.- what can I say... When one watches amazing violinists (heifetz, kogan, oistrach etc.), they can observe and learn.. when one watches Kavakos, it's impossible to learn. Because it's magic. we can only gasp in amazement. My Total Respect.

The violin sees very few players that are utterly unstoppable in their prime, and legends for all to try and even get close to matching the skill of. Paganini's legendary speed and technique made him the first of this caliber... but after he died, it would be 70 years until somebody matched his skill, with Jascha Hiefetz, the man with the perfect tone. After his prime, it would be a while, but This man, *Leonidas Kavakos* would emulate everything perfectly. It's not too much of a stretch to say that he's one of the top 5, or even 3 violinists of all time. This rendition is absolutely unbeatable.

Kavakos easily, for a couple of reasons that stand out. -Kavakos plays live, Kim does not. In live performances Kim plays it slower and a bit more "restricted". -Kavakos plays faster (and does so live too). -Kavakos has better ricochet. -Kavakos has cleaner bowing. -EDIT: Roman struggles at the third variation's rapid double stops passage. Kavakos does not. It's kind of like Kavakos' Nel Cor VS Kogan's Nel Cor. Kavakos is technically superior but I just end up listening to both because both are amazing.

@@powerguido5625 Yes, I have seen quite a lot of his recordings. Just another showoff. He's talented unlike many others, but he is not anywhere close to Kavakos.

@@XontrosInstrumentals Kavakos can't do even half of the things that Roman does. You may prefer the technique and personality of Kavakos, he is in fact good, but Roman Kim has exceeded the limits of the violin, equal to (or even better than) Paganini. I've never seen a virtuoso who played with such ease, richness of clarity and tuning like Roman Kim

WOW. amazing. still for this piece i also like ruggiero ricci's version.i had an old LP called paganinis recital by ricci.kavakos is amozing tho.imagine paganini playing this and le stregge and concerto no.3 all of it in the same concert heh.

Yes. Ricci's Paganini is "head on": played with incredible dash with no technical obstacles to slow him down or cause tonal strain as in Zimmerman's quite impressive performance. I was priviledged to attend 2 recitals in Calcutta and another 2 recitals much later in Canberra (Australia). I have not seen/heard anyone other than Ricci perform Paganini's DUET FOR ONE VIOLIN.

It’s actually not. It’s just kindve throwing the bow so it sounds like pizz, but the hair still hits the string. It actually sounds more like pizz the col legno for some reason

@Kurasso you and I both know the history of the composition, but at least in the US/Canada/UK, any version or adaptation of this tune will be best known by the current standing of the Monarchy in the UK, and QEII still has the crown, so there's no need to try and correct the uploader.

The work of Jasha and David you're remembering came from much more mature musicians. Please give Leonidas a few more years. He was eighteen at the time of this video.
