Because in those days, people of color were look down on. I’m a Black American. I can relate to what they went through during those times. Power to the people. Facts 💯💪🏾

My nickname is also cha-cha lol, my father gave me that name when i was a baby. I met a young lady in basic training her nickname was also cha-cha, then I learned of a woman drag racer named Shirley cha-cha mulldowny if i remember correctly, I also met another young lady with the nickname cha-cha omg, for years I thought I was the only man with that nickname. This was a very insightful and powerful video. Much love and respect for cha-cha and his young lords.

Lived this stuff in the same neighborhood, Lincoln Park, a few blocks east of Halsted near Armitage, at the same time. Cha Cha was born in 46. Me 55 and I don't think I ever met him. But was right there. Remember playing in those vacant lots. Remember the church takeover and the pastors murder. Remember the YLs partying with us in Crazyman''s basement. Remember lots of stuff about this hellacious time and neighborhood.

Great video! I see the Gaylord cards in the video. You really did good research. Thank you.
@westlove12263 ай бұрын
@@alfredindy8058 not produced by me Alfred, but I do my own research on a high level. That part the documentary actually got it wrong, there were no Chi-West or Gaylords sections anywhere near the Young Lords, they simply picked which ever cards had any White Power symbolism on it and went with that.
@alfredindy80583 ай бұрын
@@westlove1226 Yes, you are correct, there were never any Gaylords or Chi West in Lincoln Park. However, there is some history there when the Puerto Ricans were Urban-Removed from Lincoln Park (and the shore communities) and moved into Humboldt Park and Logan Square sections of town. That is where the fighting over turf between the greaser gangs and the Puerto Rican gangs began. That must have been what the author was thinking about when he flashed those gang cards in the video. Let me add that you did a great job of video editing. SUBSCRIBED.
