Years ago my oldest son and I were at a Phillies game at the Vet. Dante Bichette fouled a ball straight back to where we were sitting. I was more worried about my son not getting conked on the head but a guy sitting next to us stood up and caught the ball (it came in pretty hot). Without a thought, that guy turned and handed the ball to my son. Like it was the only logical thing to do. My son is thirty now, owns his own home and still has that ball. We never knew the guys name but I hope life has been as good to him as he was to my son that day.
@EdsterIII2 жыл бұрын
I had a similar experience but this was at Minor League game. I caught a ball that came in on the 1st bade side. There was a little kid in front of me. He looked back in awe and said, "YOU CAUGHT THAT! COOL!", and he said he hoped to catch one. So I tossed him the ball, he caught it, and I said there you go. Good job! There were no cameras, no news crews. Just a Minor League game and a little kid who loves baseball.⚾️ and the little guy I gave the ball to. The funny part.....I ended up catching and getting 3 more balls that day. I went home with one. Give away the rest. It was a great day! The last one, my friend and I went outside so he could 🚬smoke🚬 and sure enough, over the roof comes a ball, I couldn't catch it but it hit the grass, bounced off the ground into the lot off a trunk and rolled to me. Ball #4 that day. In 30 years of Brewers games I NEVER EVER caught a ball. Here I caught 4. It shows that karma is real. Life gives you what you give it.

I've only ever grabbed one foul ball in my life. I was 19yo in Billings Montana watching a game when a ball came my way. I didn't catch it, I picked it up and when you do that in Billings the crowd chants "Give it to a kid!" I picked a little girl behind me that was just as grateful as the girl in the video. You might think she has the precious memory but that honor is all mine.

[I had no idea where I was going with this when i started the comment and perhaps I had a few too many "chemicals" today but it was therapeutic 😄] @@nvkulk *Ya know, you are right and you raise a fair point.* *Its also fair to point out that our brains have different responses to different visual stimula such as seeing death and destruction as opposed to seeing this act of kindness and how happy the little girl became.* *The truth is we are so overloaded with negative news that we become kind of numb to the sad stories, or at least we cant allow ourselves and our psychological wellbeing to be dominated by the endless negative stories. There has to be some level of detachment to preserve our Sanity.* *And on the other side of that, we dont see the positive faith restoring stories like that very often and so its more impactful on an individual level and I would say that part of what triggers that reaction to cry for this story comes as a type of release of the emotion of sadness and hopelessness that we repress deep down everyday, including for instance the images of death and destruction in Ukraine and Syria. So the emotion which comes out actually has very little to do with the kid giving her the ball, I feel like its impact may be more of a symbolic subconscious reminder that there is good & hope for the world and how important it is to be good to other people. And also I think alittle bit of it stems from the fact that each of us recognize within ourselves that we haven't lived up to our ideals and should be better to the people around us and focus on what is important. And it is humbling to recognize how much we can learn from kids like that.* [Perhaps this is why Jesus preached that we should have a child like faith. Interesting concept.] *It simultaneously releases the energy of sadness and hopelessness and replaces it with an infusion of hope and joy and a drive to want to be better to the people around us.*
