The thing about all these characters is that they are so complex and nuanced. They all have flaws and they all make good and bad choices. Every character could have a spin off with how much context there is to their characters. They are so REAL. None of them play just a stereotype, they are complex and they change and often you learn they are not who you first thought they where. It’s all a huge credit to the writer, the director and the actors working so flawlessly together. The writing, directing/cinematography(man I could talk about some of the shots, editing, music for ages) and the acting of this show is sooooo freaking well done. It’s really really well executed. While I could see some things coming (and they wanted you to see them coming) there where still a lot of shocking moments I never expected and I genuinely felt certain characters could have gone either way when making certain choices and that was so refreshing to experience. Plus the music/soundtrack is freaking genius and now I have a bunch of new artists I listen too.

I enjoyed your reaction. I've watched a lot of reaction videos for Young Royals now...it's actually the first show that drove me to check out reaction videos to begin with. But it's so fun seeing others react to the show I love for the first time. The tension and connection between Wilhelm and Simon is just ELECTRIC. Their chemistry is insane, and I was rooting for them from Wilhelm's huge smile in episode 1 when he heard him sing. Me too, Wilhelm, me too. :) Looking forward to seeing you react to the rest of the episodes. I'm binging all your reactions for Young Royals now!

One thing I will tell you about this show is that your impressions of people will change throughout the show. People you thought were great turn out to be not so great. And people who give you a terrible first impression end you being one of your favorites. And some people just can’t help being terrible 🤷🏼♀️. I really want to talk about what you say about Vincent after you watch episode 5. Because it’s actually quite significant. And your reaction to the kiss is exactly why we wanted you to watch this show. The tension you can cut with a knife and the chemistry. Sweden is very open with marriage equality and since Young Royals came out, the monarchy has explicitly said that same sex marriages are not an issue for Swedish royalty.

The thing is that he Wilhelm doesn’t have a problem with himself being gay it’s that him being in the Royal Family a prince has to have an heir for the throne and when your gay there is no blood heir. And his mother and father will then get press that is unwanted by the Royal Family. Just wait for it with further episodes…. He is being monitored and all eyes are on him. And August is like his “body guard “ of sorts… August has to protect the Royal Family. You have to keep in mind Wilhelm is a Prince but not the crowned prince.
@appletinitwoappletinis72492 жыл бұрын
The gay thing isn't the problem, but that a prince(ss), especially a crown prince(ss), isn't allowed to choose anyone they want. Many do so anyway, and are excluded from the line of succession to the throne. It would take a long day to explain all that. The point is, little princes can't just do what they want, and certainly not in public. The higher in the line of succession, the stricter. August eg. is far from the throne, despite his kinship to Wilhelm. He can allow himself a lot more freedom because he will probably never repress the royal family.
@antothephoenix5092 жыл бұрын
The fact who's funny is, they are only Will who can be king, so technically he could do what he want, nobody can kick him. And if the Sweden is the most friendly countrie of Europe for gay people, Will can use that for....i don't know, doing something for change the things. PS : sorry for my pathetic english XD, i'm french and i try to make conversation with english-speakers.
@slayyyy40792 жыл бұрын
That’s funny, cause In Sweden, The royalty IS allowed to be lgbtq+ because it’s nothing we can do to change, the monarchy have said if Estelle (the next crown princess, the crown princesses daughter) is turning out to be a part of the lgbtq, then that’s okay, and she’s allowed to be
@appletinitwoappletinis72492 жыл бұрын
That was a general response to royal families. Because I've read quite a few stories of skipped inheritance because the respective royal offspring was excluded for the sake of the love affair they chose. From Europe to Japan. Some of them shouldn't have been that long ago. So if the wind of change suddenly blows in the last few months or maybe a year or two, that's great, of course. In England there were also some things that people didn't like to see. Kate was questionable as a commoner for a while and then Harry came and wanted to marry a notorious American woman, where they had reservations again and he wasn't even crown prince. But since the Queen had personally married a man who was questionable in the eyes of everyone else and saw what would happen if she forced her son into a marriage, so to speak, to a woman he apparently never loved, she then gave in and gave her blessing. This is all harsh and pretty short, but you know what I mean. The thing is, if a king or queen can't produce offspring for whatever reason, that line is compromised. Let's take the fictional form of the show. So if Erik were to succeed to the throne and could produce offspring, everything would be fine -at least for Wille, as long as he avoids scandals. If Erik didn't exist and Wilhelm was the only one and he would now (allowed to) be gay, there would be no offspring and the crown that is so important to the Queen would go to some other line of the family. Surely that wouldn't be a problem either, since the royal family doesn't rule anyway, but it's about these damn values and expectations that aren't that easy to circumvent.
@frankito11222 жыл бұрын
@@appletinitwoappletinis7249 this is a really interesting scenario tbh. a lot of gay couples nowadays opt to have biological offsprings, so the royal line can continue. if they choose not to have offsprings, maybe some cousin from a juvenile branch of the family can be designated as heir. or they could look elsewhere since most European royal families are related. The British Royal family has a list of the next 100 people in line to the throne if in case the worse happens, Sweden probably has a similar list

I think the "I'm not-" is foreshadowed in ep 1 when Simon asks why Wilhelm didn't say anything about the tax evasion/welfare stuff. He says "I'm not- I'm not allowed to speak on political issues". To me that means he was going in the direction of "I'm not allowed to like boys (you)" rather than "I'm not gay".

@@RickyReviews Each season follows a new main character, but the secondary characters are mostly there for all four seasons. There are plot points that do carry over from one season to another, but usually minor ones. You definitely can just watch one season and it would generally make sense to you as each season is a fairly standalone storyline, but I’d recommend watching all four seasons. That really makes seasons 3 & 4 that much better, which are the best two season imo.

@@RickyReviews yes and no. All the seasons go together but you don’t have to watch them all to follow what happens in season 3 which is the recognized by pretty much everyone as the best season. I’ve watch all four season though and they are all great. And there are several different versions in other countries. They’re all very similar but each of them have their own twists. Like season three is a same sex couple in every country’s version but one has a transgender character. One has more heavy homophobia than the others. I’ve watched all seasons of all versions. The prince of Sweden is very restricted : he is not allowed to express an opinion, and he is certainly not allowed to live a romance, to be in love. Love in not part of his life as a prince. That is why he has a panic attack. He reads in the board about "legacy" which takes him back to his duties to have an arranged marriage.....So the issue is not being gay/unlabelled/pan...but being a prince. Yes you are right, August want to break their bond because he s elitist and it is unacceptable for a prince to be close to a working-class person. And he is jealous, as you said too.
@LinosaLi2 жыл бұрын
Is that true though? Cuz the Swedish prince and princesses have had boyfriends and girlfriends. The crown princess Victoria dated for example a guy when she was in high school.
@openedtodiscussion2 жыл бұрын
@@LinosaLi Yes in the real life. But in this fiction, the writers wants to impersonate a "restricted person who is not allowed to love", and they chose to impersonate this restricted person by a royal. They didn't say the fiction represents the reality, it is a fiction. The part which is real, according to the writer researches in these school, is the students don't admit being gay. They don't talk about it even if people imagine there are queer persons. Former students were interviewed. They want to point out the difficulties for certain persons to live freely their love, for other reasons in real life, like countries where queerness is illegal. Do you see it?
@LinosaLi2 жыл бұрын
@@openedtodiscussion I know it’s fiction and that Willes problem is that he’s a prince and not that he’s gay. What I reacted to was that you wrote "he’s not allowed to express an opinion and to live a romance" because I don’t see it being that hard. I think he can express opinions, and that he could potentially have a love. The problem is that he grew up in a different enviroment than you and me, and his opinions are based on that. And the whole monarchy is about giving birth to princes and princesses. And that’s kinda a problem here. If he would have liked Felice I think it would have been just fine. I can actually see him trying to like her in S2.
@openedtodiscussion2 жыл бұрын
@@LinosaLi I disagree. They ask him very clearly to not give any opinion in politic matter for instance. The queen explained to him that Love is not a matter that is taking in account for a royal life. He can fall in love but they don't care. The writer clearly explained in interview that her subject was "How a restricted person is capable to love?" So yes Love is an issue. I understand that it sounds crazy. And of course Felice would be great, but they don't care if he feels anything, she has just the good status. Not a matter of love here. So yes they can force him in the future to have a political relationship with "a Felice-status girl" of course, for the same matter. He is not allowed to choose his partner freely. I guess we will to agree to disagree, and it is completely alright. Have a nice day.
