The lyrics: "And if the world don't break, I'll be shakin' it, cuz I'm a young man after all; and when the seasons change, will you stand by me, cuz I'm a young man built to fall." A rich sentiment for the struggle of discovering self-expression. I'm a high school teacher & have a 17-year old son, so for me it's a great lyrical interpolation of what I see everyday- the paradox of both craving to take on the world and yet being scared of it at the same time (and that feeling sort of never goes away, really!).

Thank God, a real band, with real songs. Was beginning to think, real music, was outlawed, by the Cheese Police. See kids, in the land of yore. People picked up, and learned to expertly play, organic instruments. And sing songs without pitch correctors. Buddy Rich, and men like, Mike Portnoy, play drums. And put their heart and soul into their artform. Young the Giant, is a cool ass act. Love everything I've heard so far.

I remember reading somewhere that this song was written to his mother, that's why it's called Mind over Matter, Mom, you know you're in my mind, it's like a letter about his travels, about he following his call to shake his how walls, and as time passes he wishes his Mom remaims since one day he might fall and he would like to go back to her.
