The Young Thug trial is postponed while his attorney is in custody for contempt. The In Chambers Hearing transcript has been released to the public and it is not good. If the judge recuses himself, there is a high possibility it will result in a mistrial.

It's easy to see why she's the President of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Their Strike Team mobilized twenty members in fewer than fifteen minutes, including their Chairman and President. She took on Steel as a client in seconds and had all the case law at her fingertips. As you say, Ms. Merchant was truly a force of nature.

@@elpatron7916 you should read the transcript. The judge didn't influence him to do anything. He explained to him that if he pled the 5th, he would go back to jail and lose his immunity. That's informational. The DA was the one that was coercing him. It was her. She said it was okay for him to lie. The Judge said it was not okay for him to lie. He gave him his options. If Steele was present at the meeting, which is really the issue, the judge would've said the same thing. Either way, trial id not getting thrown out. While Woody's testimony is important for the murder, there is other evidence and other witnesses. The DA should've cut their losses with Woody and moved on. He's not even credible...

So the judge violates a defendant's civil rights, gets caught, violates the attorney's civil rights by ordering balif to arrest him for defending his client, publicly admits to the ex parte violation.... then refuses to recuse himself. He eventually realizes he might actually face consequences, so he stalls for almost a week before finally releasing transcripts which expose even more civil rights violations?!? At some point the GA Supreme Court needs to step in, remove this judge, he should face review to disbar him, and prosecute him for violating multiple defendant's civil rights!

There is also a HUGE difference between an immunity agreement and FORCED IMMUNITY. Woody knew nothing about immunity until they said you can't plead the 5th because we have given you forced immunity. That's witness intimidation. That takes away his rights. I never knew there was such a thing as forced immunity.

These people need to leave Lil Woody alone. They're playing games with that man's life and his rights and it makes me ill. This is real life for him and it has real life consequences. Judge Glanville shouldn't be anywhere near a courtroom. I've never seen someone so willing to walk all over norms to prove himself above reproach. But ADA Love is the absolute villian of this story. She seems so unprofessional, willing to be as crooked aa any defendant I've seen and honestly, just clueless. It blows my mind how out of pocket the State is willing to be to get these guys. And just to be clear, even though I don't know all of the specifics, it's reasonable to assume at least a few of these RICO defendants need to be off of the streets, but we can't just sit by and allow the Court and the State to trample their rights and be underhanded for it to happen. The whole trial is a mess and it seems like that's not too uncommon for Fulton County. Atlanta deserves better than this.

From what I've been learning (and the attorneys can answer better) but unlikely. It seems by and large lawyers only get disbarred over messing with client money improperly (see the housewife's husband). Now that's not to say they won't get some sort of sanction, but disbarment seems rare in these sorts of situations.

You know, Judge Glanville came off not as horrific as I anticipated, still really bad but not as much as atty Love..... Wow. Listening/reading the stuff she said or alluded to, how on Earth can she believe any of that was ethical. She alluded to having conversations without his lawyer present, despite knowing he has counsel!! I kinda get why Copeland's original atty would want to leave the case. The transcript alludes to more than one conversation between the DAs and Copeland without his atty present. Melnick cant defend him from things he doesn't know about, and if after this meeting that he is not present for and probably wouldnt have gotten the complete transcript of, it makes sense for him to say "If he goes on after this I can't be his lawyer". Also, I agree with Peter LYK's dad, Papa Tragos. I do not think this is the entirety of the conversation from that meeting. They mention too many things that either had to have been said before that meeting (bad), or during and not recorded (worse). If this trial is allowed to continue I would be shocked.

It also looks like the DA implied that Copeland also has Federal Immunity. This was the concern of Melnick that even though they gave him State Immunity he did not have Federal so could still be tried for his testimony there. The DA then alluded to him having Federal Immunity which sounds very hokey. How did he get Federal Immunity? Who issued it? The DA sounds like she lied in to him in Chambers in front of the Judge to further her case.

This trial has been wild as well. It feels like they are holding them accountable for crimes they committed going back to 2015 when Young Thug / the defendants & affiliates who aren’t even on trial with them, were teenagers. Which would seem fine if the evidence was insurmountable but it really hasn’t. Crimes that they could not & still cannot prove on their own. Sucks for the victims but this RICO cases Seems like a huge waste of money.

Remember that the DA knew Copeland has an attorney when the witness list came out. They attorney Melnik had numerous conversations with the DA that was on this case but had left. Melnik then contacted Love who never followed up. So this entire charade that the DA didn’t know is bull. They knew, they had a duty to contact Melnik to have him submit a withdrawal if he was no longer representing Copeland but they didn’t. They didn’t because they are weasels trying to win this case NO matter what laws they break. So the DA dragging Copeland in on his attorneys vacation was a set up. Remember they gave Woody the immunity in the morning BEFORE his attorney arrived on Friday. After hearing from his attorney the night before asking them WHY they were speaking to his client alone.

I disagree with those who say that DA Fani Willis somehow bears responsibility for the judge's conduct, mainly because she doesn't. Different branches of government. However -- if she doesn't act now and fails to constructively handle ADA Love's actions in this trial, she will undoubtedly erode Fulton County's justice system further. No one needs that.

The judge lost control and behaved very badly. Sadly, it should be a mistrial.

I don’t think they want a mistrial. State hasn’t proved beyond a reasonable doubt at all.

Look how that turned out for Karen Read....I think if a mistrial is declared the state can't afford to retry it and will have to dismiss and hope the feds pick it up

I think at least of half of the people who care about this case, care because it's the same prosecutor prosecuting The D...and who in the world doesn't care about Bumpus & Love????????????

Fani Willis LIED to City Council to get funding for this trial. To the tune of $7MIL over 5 yrs. Fani answered "she can spend funds any way she wants" she WOULDN'T have gotten those extra funds if she had been honest. Her BF got hired by those extra funds... A person can't be corrupt and prosecute corruption... it's like a Sinner calling out another kind of Sinner... SMDH...

Just an absolute garbage case. Woody has now said in a KZbin interview that the transcript was altered.
