At $1.6 million, the Tour boasts the richest prize fund ever for a series of online chess events. Players from around the world compete to win 9 titles and the crown of overall Tour Champion. Nowhere else has this level of competition.
Players compete in 6 “Regular” and 3 “Major” online rapid chess tournaments spread out over the Tour season. Two Regulars will be followed by a Major with the pattern repeated until all are completed. Regulars will feature 16 players in a prelim round and then only 8 players qualify to the knockout. Majors will feature 8 qualifying players in a simple all-play-all format. Cash prizes are available for placings in each event. The player who finishes top of the Tour leaderboard will be declared the overall Tour Champion.

Sometimes you can see it coming. Once or twice someone's made a really bad move in the opening that I caught and punished, should have resigned then...60 moves later he's fought hard to stay alive but he really absolutely should have resigned on move 4 because there's no way I'm going to ever be at a disadvantage since the opening unless I make these five sequential bad moves. Sometimes you see it coming sixty moves ahead because you had that opening start and it doesn't take a professional. Just takes knowing you didn't mess up on move 4, he did

Fischer said chess is dead; only a good memory for positions is necessary; & therefore boring & lacking creativity; only a good memory is necessary & knowing theory ;he is to a great extent correct; if you remember patterns in positions you play better..The way US gov't treated Fischer was so bad for American chess... When I was in unversity in the 1980s me & someone I thought was my friend played in a simultaneous match against Boris Spassky; there were 300 players at cost of 75$ US each from 700-IMs..He drew 10 players & lost to 5 players.. My so called friend beat Spassky... Spassky took pictures with the winners at cost 20$ each...And that little bitch refused to play us ever again!!!

What an epic battle!!! An extraordinary achievement by Praggu!!!. Praggnanandha comes from a poor family - his father Rameshbabu is a polio victim, a man of modest means. I admire Rameshbabu and his wife for giving Pragg & his sister Vaishali (another promising chess talent) everything he had to bring them up to this level. Recently e4 chess group ( in Chennai India) supported by Vishy Anand & our team gave a laptop, a tablet and INR 200K ($3000) Cash award to encourage 8 chess prodigies including Pragg, Vaishali and Gukesh. I wish more people support the game of chess in some way - chess should be taught in schools and universities. A few drops of H(M)oney from the millions of dollars given to cricketers, tennis and football champs will go a long way to sustain and grow this classic game of the mind!!! Cheers!!!

Magnus Nc6 was a mistake. He overloaded the c file with no attacking strategy on the king. While Pragg was overloading the the white King for the attack. It's a flawed philosophy sometimes to attack pieces and not the king. Pragg is always attacking the King. It's better chess imo.

People get mad at me for saying this but Magnus is a pawn grabber. Now 99/100 times he ends up with an extra pawn in the end game at it is all over. But, this never made it to queens off the board. Great game.
@rameshb794
@rameshb794 2 жыл бұрын
You need to be an absolute genius to consistently go into the endgames with 1 pawn advantage. Not many GMs can do that, so the "pawn grabbing" is not as simple as you make it sound.

The matches like this showcase that the game of Chess is still quite human, that no one is absolutely invincible, and that the player ratings, colours of chess pieces or head to head scorelines are inconsequential to determine the end result of any chess game !! Such games are like nice booster doses to all those people who might get bored from time to time seeing machine like playing strategies and often predictable outcomes !!

Yeah I agree but Prag probably was able to do this because of engines
@LifeIsGreatGirishArunDikshit
@LifeIsGreatGirishArunDikshit 2 жыл бұрын
Use of engines for preparation purposes might be a norm these days for almost all Chess players. That's actually a bit sad part as it lends some artificialness and certain predictability to watch modern games. However, sad or not, engines seem to be inevitable in modern era. But, that's where such games seem nice where some human aspects are showcased, some fantastic moves played by not-so-established player, some apparent mistakes from a stalwart and a special result on display.
