My Dad recently gave me his old 100B. This video will be incredibly helpful in getting it back up and running. I’m looking forward to catching a smallmouth on it. Thanks for posting this video!

Blain, it seems there’s still quite a few of those floating around out there. They still work great once they get serviced. Have fun with it. Fish On!

I just got the old Johnson reel working again. The old grease had solidified quite a bit and it was all seized up. It’s working now, so I’ll put it in action this weekend. If you’re on Instagram, I’d love to give you a shout out. I appreciate you putting this video together and helping me get this reel back in the fight!

Sorry Blain but I’m not on Instagram. I only do Facebook, KZbin and email. I’m happy to see you’ve got the old reel up and running.

Thanks for this video! I have a rod & reel that was my grandfathers that has not been in use for over 50 years. This will help me get it taken apart and hopefully put back into action!

Thanks a bunch for this video, helped a ton and the timing for posting is perfect. I recently got this reel over the weekend from my father-in-law for free. It was pitched to the curb with a 60’s era St. Croix 5’1” rod and he grabbed it. Was extremely dirty, but following your instructions I got it cleaned up and working flawlessly. Can’t wait for the Spring to try it out. Great video!!

I’m glad you found the video helpful. That’s pretty much why I’m doing them. I’ve got about 20 more models in my arsenal to create videos for. After that I’ll have to start searching for others to shoot.

Excellent video. I taken several of these down to clean but you showed me a few things I didn't know. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Jack, this was one of my first videos although the Johnson Century was a reel I had taken apart numerous times as a kid. I might make a newer version of this video since I have two 100B reels coming to me in the mail this week, and this was shot in a lower resolution. Fish On.

Excellent video and I have a working reel now. My only comment is that I have a washer on my handle which was not in yours. I believe the shaft was just too long on my 100B for the locking nut to work without the washer. The reel now spins like new! Mark

Mark, good catch. I just went back and checked the schematic for the 100B and yes there should be a washer under the handle. You are the first to catch this. Fish On!
