OMG I came across this as I'm pinching my nails. I'm doing my 1st set of nails on myself in years. My 2nd set in a week. I did a friend. Wish I could send a pic... I'm doing a really good job. I know that thanx to your help.

Having taught myself how to "do nails" this is the one area in which I have questions and everyone gives different advice. In this video you clarified some things and explained the process better than anyone else has. Thanks so much guys.

The "shell" idea is a great one! I'm not always great at getting a nail done in one application! I was taught the 3 ball/bead method but I prefer 1, so I'm practising! I was never even taught about pinching & I'm yet to have or see a tech bother with it. I don't usually need it myself, but I've seen people whose nails fan out once product is applied that really could use pinching, but the techs are always too lazy. Keep spreading the good word guys!

Ok I am definitely chiming in on this one as it is a VERY sore point for me in this country (Australia - specifically Sydney). My travels to salons that have nail techs from countries other than Australia, I am pretty much disgusted with the lack of knowledge where pinching etc are concerned. I actually went into my salon a few weeks ago WITH my pinching tool and they had NO idea what it was! I could forgive the lack of nail forms (which they couldn't use anyway because they apply the product TOO wet) if they were to at least pinch the nail tip (which I have seen done on another channel). What I'm trying to say here is that, there are some nail related procedures that should be common practice but are not because of the lack of certificate standards in this country. Someone like me (who DOES know better where nails are concerned) have to seek out "at home" nail techs, and even then, you might not get a nail tech that knows what pinching is, knows the benefit of it and knows not to OVER pinch incase you damage ones natural nail. It is highly frustrating, hence why I would rather do my own. I am tired of these salons who do a full set in less than 40 minutes and send me straight to my nail files and buffers to fix their sub par work. Thank you for this video Greg. I just WISH it was a standard part of nail tech certificates in this country.

I firmly believe in pinching because it makes the nail look more pleasing to the eye. I know this is an older video and am hoping I can get some clarification on this. When using a pinching tool....how far up the nail bed does the tool need to be placed? Do you only pinch the free edge or do you go up on the actual nail bed? And if so how far do you go up the nail bed? I just want to make sure that I am doing it correctly. You guys are such a wealth of information and I always look forward to all the videos you put out!

@thearmchairjournalist566 3 жыл бұрын
@@lilc5150 you should flash cure for 5 - 10 seconds then pinch, then do a full cure. This hardens the gel enough to hold the pinch without warping the structure. Each different brand will need a different flash time, just test to see how long is needed 💅

Thanks for great tutorial Greg 💖 How about Gel? Is pinching Hard Gel the same technique?
7 жыл бұрын
JACQUELINE Di MATTIA When you pinch hard gel you need to flash cure it so that it’s hard enough to pinch but still a bit soft so that it will move. Then apply a thin layer on top before you continue curing it if you are using UV. When it’s LED it should be fine and stay “in position”. The time varies from brand to brand ⭐️

What can i do to stop my product from going over the side walls when running down the nail(when i point the clients finger down)? Coz I’m always trying to do the cuticle are and by the time I’m done it’s all over the place 😥😥✋🏾
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc 2 жыл бұрын
Make sure you are pointing the finger straight down. The product will run where gravity is pulling it, so if the finger isn't directly down to your table, it will flow to the sides. If it is flowing really fast, you may be working a little too wet. If this is the case, try waiting a couple of seconds after picking up the pearl before placing it onto the nail. Here's a great video that'll give you some more info! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKm5i3WJj9WfitU

Nesh’s Nails I do not think so as the nail has already been set. You pinch with a new nail as it is still malleable. A fill-in is only at the cuticle.

Deaundra Toliver it’s a combination of prep, application, and finishing. Pinching the nail will help with strength that will lead to less cracking. If you are doing tips, it’s not the same.

If your product is too runny, you may need to wipe more liquid out of your brush before you pick up your pearl. Otherwise, make sure you are bouncing your brush into the powder to pick up the proper consistency. Here's a quick video to show you how. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nprPl4xtbtKfrNk

Forms save time and they will fit every type of nail bed. Also when your clients comes in and is waiting the design they have changed out, it is much easier to do that if you have formed the nails

Thanks for responding! I LOVE you guys. So so grateful for your videos. I’ve decided to start doing my own nails because here in NYC salons are own by predominately Chinese Asians. They do very basic very FAST work and almost always make no time for perfection and beautification of nails. It’s hard to find excellent nail techs. If you do find some, there is a long wait for an appointment and some are no longer taking appointments because they are overwhelmed with the amount of clients. Time for me to step up and learn it all to be my own tech.

I don't care for this technique. And 4 mins to allow the acrylic to set isn't going to be accurate for all acrylics. You need to figure it out for whatever setting time you're acrylic is. .. And some clients who's fingers run hot, is going to set even quicker. And this does work with a 3 ball method.
