I've been doing my own nails for a few years. I'm not a professional, and didn't go to school, im self taught, but because of my health issues and being unable to work, I couldn't afford to get my nails done anymore. Learning to do them myself was such a hard process but omg is so worth it ♡

Oh and also, anyone else who's doing their own nails, I've found it easier to do it in 3 steps (when I have the extra time) I'll do my nails on 4 fingers on my dominant hand (using my non dominant hand) first, because I find it easier to do it without long nails. Then I'll do my thumbs. Then I'll finish off using my dom hand and finish of the remaining 4. It takes a little extra time. But ive found it makes the process way easier

I agree with others - my heart dropped a little when it cut to the shaped nails. I'm really trying to master my shaping and that is the shape I want to wear all the time but have the most trouble with the sides - keeping them even with sidewalls but also tapering up to meet the pointy tip on free edge specifically.

You get used to it. I usually have my nails long and whenever I remove them I can’t do things right because I’m used them. Like without nails it’s harder to use my phone and type and grab stuff cause you become so accustomed to doing things a certain way

I only do my own nails if I'm in the right mood, otherwise I try to hurry which ends up in a sloppy result. It does take me 3 hours to do them but when the plan is doing nails I have no other plans and fully concentrate on that, I make myself a nice pot of tea, some relaxing music, get everything ready and set up, send the hubby on a walk with the dog and then I start. I, too, do my left hand first (I'm right handed), I do my nail prep on both hands and then I start on my left hand again and finish it up to the point where the color/polish would be the next step. then I do my right hand and finish it all the way, including color and topcoat and finally proceed to finish up with the left hand.

I’m ambidextrous, so I personally do both hands at the same time. I feel like it takes FOREVER if I fully complete one hand first, so I do them both together. Very interesting to hear your preference! Beautiful nails as always.

The trick I use with my dominate hand weak pinky, is to twist my ring finger over the pinky, and slide it down the pinky as far as flexibly possible. I’m very non-flexible, but I find this gives me more stability and control over that pinky when trying to file or drill. 😃

I could watch you all day! I have no choice but to do my nail myself where I live there isn't any around for 30 miles, it takes me forever but they look great because you give such great tips!
