I made a point of this to them in a series of emails. I showed them that they were in breach of the Harassment Laws, because they actually stated “must get legally licensed” and it is specifically an offence to demand someone do something they are not legally required to do. Ultimately I issued a Cease and Desist Notice to them, stating I find their letters to be harassment. They tried to claim they put a No Licence Needed notice for two years. I responded by asking where in the 2003 Communications Act does it refer to a two year period? They had to admit that that was their internal policy. I keep all the emails for the day when the letters resume, and I consider taking them to court. The letters according to OFCOM, are advertising material. I complained to the ASA, who said they don’t cover TV Licensing. So at the moment they are in a convenient legal grey area. If someone does take them to court over this, it could end the letters. Clearly TV Licensing believe in the value of these letters, so they defend the harassment because it works!

@@fatbikemontage2931 Reporting each letter via a police website as harrassment, recording that on the letter causes them problems. In particular, when you get a warrant you have to lay information before the magistrate to get the warrant. Leaving off that the person has reported you to the police is what they are going to do. So lets look at what's going on. They have been rejected, ie. you have told them. Then they keep coming back after 2 years with their harrasment for money. So swap money for sex. An ex demands every two years, don't you want to have sex with me again? After you have explicitly told them no and not to contact you? Is that acceptable? Of course not, but its what the BBC do.

@@fatbikemontage2931 I'm working on an angle for Sadiq Khan. Subject Access Requests. Cost to you, an email. Cost to them? A lot more. Right to be forgotten? In lots of cases they won't have implemented the code, so its very expensive. Both are the law. Going to the ICO. The last case I took there I was shocked when I SARed the ICO for the case notes. Well over 100 pages of emails. Just for a simple right to know. So I've some FOI requests out there, what systems do TFL run that contain personal information. What systems have the subcontracted that to the same. That will be followed up with what personal data they contain, and SARs to see it. Also FOI for the purposes and legal grounds for the collection of that data. Then its right to be forgotten. Now that FOI on purposes, means you've cut off an escape. The interesting one is outsourced systems. Lots of right to be forgotten requests hits their profitability big time, to the extent that its not profitiable any more, and the companies will move to get out of the contracts. So some template emails and lots of people I think will join in, and be shocked at the extent of the spying

some of them capita knobs don't say why or identify themselves until after you confirm you live there. They go "are you such and such" or "do you live at this property" and only after you say yes do they say why they're there. So if they don't want to say why they are there or who they are, you should only answer with "jog on" / get lost or something. Another thing though, Jon says the goon won't come back if they know you're clued on, but in many cases it won't be the same goon that comes round, and they don't sync up their notes anyway.

Usually a goon has an area they cover hence why you might get the same one back if not it can be a new goon taking over the rounds

I live in the same flat for 2 years, and get the letters every month. Never see any goons visit (I work from home) their nearest office is Guildford which is 35 miles from Portsmouth, so I don't think they ever both driving all this for folks like me to tell them NO all day

I completed a random survey supplied by one of those outfits that pay you for completing things… it was all about viewing. 100 percent through it gave very little input except that you don’t know as do not watch specific tv… the came question 3 million I think, then asked for only 2 options to answer… do I watch terrestrial tv … or … I don’t have a tv … well, it’s a no to both, it seems assuming that either I watch what the licence expects me to or don’t have a tv! … survey auto closed prematurely there, did not complete it, unable to, so not paid for the survey… must be a goon-based thing?!

I never have had a call , ignored their letters many years ago, I am 78 and proud to say I have never had a T V licence everyone I advised to do the same always make some reason up why they must have a licence and still jealous of me for not having one and what I have saved 😊
