We havent needed a licence for some 10 years now. I complained to my MP ( Gareth Davies), about the bullying and harassment of these letters, and that no other company anywhere in the world would get away with this. His reply was that I needed to get a TV Licence. Gonna vote Reform next time.

We used to have TV licences here in Australia. Vans with funny TV detection aerials cruising down the streets, blokes with clipboards knocking on the door. Everyone got sick of it and just simply stopped paying, so TV and radio licences were dropped completely in 1974. We have friends in the UK. One was a London cabby all his working life so you can imagine the poor TV goon that was silly enough to knock on his door...

I remember in the late 60's, a van turning up where we lived in Buckingham. People started shitting bricks. Now I'm a LOT older and wish I had canceled the licence years ago.

They rely on fear and word of mouth to do their work for them. In the old days, they used to drive up and down the streets in vans boldly marked TV DETECTION UNIT, with a guy in the back turning a handle to rotate a fake antenna on top. Mrs Bloggs sees the van and phones Mrs Jones a few doors down to warn her. First thing Monday morning, everyone is lined up at the post office, cash in hand.

Cancelled it months ago, had reams of paper through the door including an offer of refund. Had a visit recently, and more paper arrived shortly after, all of which put a smile on my face. I'm a pensioner, so any of you out there worrying, don't.

I received a number of letters like that one, but they never came round my house. Clearly it's not against the law writing letters like that one and that's why they do it knowing very well that some people might get scared and pay up. I personally know someone who still believes that they go round estates with a van and an antenna to check on people watching TV.

Every threatening letter should be sent to your local MP and ask them investigate the threat being made against you..If no action is taken by them. I get the impression that Crapita are increasing the rate at which they design and send out new intimidatory letters. They are all variations on a theme and they must be relying upon each latest one to somehow persuade someone who has ignored all the previous ones to this time buy a TV licence. Most likely, however, they will only impress a few people amongst those who have only recently cancelled, or not renewed, their TV licence and for whom this is the first letter they have received. I wonder how much money Crapita spend upon their "creative" design team.

To keep the BBC funded the choices are either go to a subscription or change how we pay for the licence by adding it to Council Tax or other bills that you can't avoid paying. At the moment you can choose not to pay it, i very much doubt that this will be an option in 2027 review.

Ok so this is the score. When was hard up I had no choice to take any job and that job was enforcement for TVL I'm not proud of it and didn't stay due to the culture and lies that are bestowed upon you from management I can tell you anything you want to know including the codes they use for property and refusals. Just like the police, they can say whatever they want and they will be believed. Hit me up if you want any info, I've not had a license for years and no intention of having one although it is a prerequisite to have one to work for the tvl. Hello. I regularly receive letters from tv licensing addressed to 'The Legal Occupier' and I always send them straight back, unopened, with a caustic comment on the back of the envelope. I just received another with a window in the envelope stating that 'an investigation has been authorised'. I sent this back too marked 'Return to Sender' and on the reverse of the envelope wrote: "Please refer to Facebook's -'Chilli Con Carne' to realise how ridiculous and nonsensical these letters of yours have become in the eyes of the British public". I haven't had a licence for many years and am abiding by the 'rules', temporary though they may be. Like may of your viewers and yourself, I am eagerly awaiting the day when broadcast tv viewing will be available to all without financial penalty which enriches only the arrogant and utterly selfish.. I had a new one from them the other day. I've registered as not requiring a license, have religiously avoided TV consumption and only use a Roku for streaming services. I do not even have BBC iPlayer installed. I received an email saying they have detected I have been using iPlayer at my address (one I left a year ago) and as such my declaration is now void. I logged into my iPlayer account to check my address and it was my old address, I haven't logged into it at all. I deleted the account and redeclared no need for a license.

Imagine TV license officer asks do you have a TV in your house? I answer yes I do He then asks and do you watch live tv as it’s been broadcasted? And I answer Yes We go to court and judge finds me guilty I say guilty for what? Judge says because you admitted to watching TV without a licence I then say to the Judge but hang on Judge Yes I know I admitted to watching TV, but I never said my current whereabouts when watching live TV as I could have been round my Cousins House or even watching Man City VS Liverpool down my local on the big screen

Rolls Royce used to have a computer system called MAGPIE 50 years ago. The apprentice Said it stood for Machine for Automatically Generating Paper instead of Engines Very much similar to TV L system in my opinion If you ask me, I would say the BBC need to renegotiate the contract with Capita.

Maybe one of these auditors can go to the BBC offices and demands to be let in and allowed to search the premises for firearms exotic animals controlled radioactive material or anything else that requires a license . Just for shits and giggles
