Thanks so much! I had no idea budgies would do this hormonal/ egg laying bit! The stress etc. that was beyond my control.....new apartment owner decided to do a hurry up complete renovation of my complex and the stress on all of us (humans and pets) was beyond anything you can imagine......weeks of this mess! My Budgie is only about 6 months old and looking at her tonight she's getting ready to lay an egg, and she's so small! I've ordered the dummy eggs and am hoping to prevent this 1st egg from being laid. So glad this video was made. The info you gave, and that the Dummyeggs site gave is very very valuable! What I'm confused about is....should I put a small nest in her cage now? Or not?

Yikes 6 months and she’s already wanting to lay eggs. I wouldn’t put a nest in her cage, if anything you want to discourage the egg laying. Tue dummy eggs is just to prevent her from laying more if she does lay a egg. Make sure she has calcium rich foods or cuddle bones, she will need the extra nutrients in her diet if she does. Laying eggs is so risky and so many things could go wrong, hopefully you can prevent her from laying eggs before she does.

Have you watched the video? As I mentioned it’s best to leave the egg as if you remove it to soon she will lay another one. It is not fertile without a mate.

I have lesbian birds. Last year bird 1 laid eggs and i bought fake eggs so she'd stop laying. Today bird 2 laid an egg so im ready with the fake eggs already. Shes laying on fake eggs now
