At 6:15 you tapped out bolts with a hammer. I recommend keeping the nut on the bolt end and tapping that to prevent boogering up the thread.

Or use a brass hammer...

I would also used a new bolt every time I install a new part. It keeps them from seizing.

You mean just so you can loosen the bolt and try to get it out the rest of the way with your hand ?

My wife works for a driving school and they have a shop that does most all of their work. She was asking me about why the back end of the car bounces and causes the car to bounce from side to side. After riding with her for a while my semi professional thought was shocks. So when she got the oil changed she asked the guy to check the shocks. He said he just rebuilt the entire suspension including the shocks. So now my question is (a) could it be something else or (b) could it be he used cheap shocks?

Love this channel, you provide helpful information. I have a 2013 Taurus, noticed you have very limited product selection. Do you have decent feedback with TRQ quick struts?

What if your older car has a stiff ride?
@Velly_drums2 жыл бұрын
What if you have new shocks and your vehicle still “bounces/sways”? Tires and tire pressure are good. Thanks!

Sway bars may not be tightened to torque specs
@archeo2892 жыл бұрын
Continued excessive bouncing can be due to shocks that are not hefty enough for the vehicle. Happened to me once. Just because a shock will fit a vehicle doesn’t mean it’s strong enough to counter the weight. For swaying, it could be weak shocks or the sway bar linkages could be worn. Some older off-road edition trucks might not even have rear sway bars.

Did u buy cheap shocks?
@belowzero58172 жыл бұрын
Did you happen to “start” your shocks before installing them, you should compress them 3 times to get the gasses moving, if you don’t you could get a bouncy ride that’ll be there for a little bit

Should I get any problem like back pain and belly pain while driving car with bad shock absorber? Even in my last 3 years ride never felt like that which I felt last 2 to 3 days. Should it cause bad shock absorber?

Would a wheel bearing on the drum brakes cause a knocking noise on while accelerating and driving?
@Seoul_Eater2 жыл бұрын
So it's not really a home repair tutorial iff you have to have a specialized tool to hold the spring, which sucks I was looking forward to seeing a good tutorial for the home mechanic...
@slickjohnc12 жыл бұрын
They're like $25 online. Spring compressors.

Loaded struts are the way to go. No worries with spring compressors, remove old strut install new, and all the parts are new.
@Joseph-eh4rs2 жыл бұрын
So the guy recommend replacing entire strut assembly, so no need for that professional compressor tool.
@archeo2892 жыл бұрын
I think it’s still a good tutorial. I’d just replace the whole strut assembly, spring and all. Much safer for the home mechanic. Especially if the bearings are shot. 1A sells assemblies.
@josephschneider50002 жыл бұрын
I would recommend if your DIY, to replace the entire assembly he does mention that after showing how to take it apart. It's more cost-effective to replace the entire assembly as well as not taking the risk there could be another bad part you missed in the assembly when you put it back together.

I had new struts and shocks put on my 2000 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder. The guy that put on my struts and shocks broke my back passenger shock. He used a hammer and broke the shock at the top of the shock. I bought these struts and shocks from the company. Talk about being pissed I am. Now I have to rebuy the pair. They are Suncore struts and shocks.

Why not take it back to him and have him fix it? I know many times "mechanics" "fix" something and the problem persists and the customer doesnt request the money back

So my car is on coilovers and its pretty low. I think one of my struts blew but im not entirely sure. It bounces while i drive at like 15 miles an hour, and continues to vibrate as i drive. Can anyone help me out?

+jacob lugo We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

Now if they fixed the roads in NE you would bounce less. Last time I was home in MA driving around I spent more time worrying about those roads destroying my car. Once I drove back to GA I swore the next car I ever drive in MA or anywhere in NE will be a rental.
@Officer2392 жыл бұрын
Yeah New England does that on purpose so you have to fix your vehicle more often, not like in Georgia, Florida, or Texas where the roads are smooth & less wear & tear on your vehicle.

those parts is good parts after market is usa parts

I would just replace the whole strut instead of disassemble it and reuse the components.
