This so much! A bad habit of mine I had early on was getting annoyed and retrying the same thing over and over while thinking things like 'their move shouldn't work like that" or "my move should have worked". Nowadays its all , "okay, that didn't work, what should i try next time instead." As a fellow millia main that helped me improve so much. Great vid!

People sometimes mistake a character being good or not do good with the person using them. Its like when Minatos told kakashi the chidori was bad because its too predictable. But if you have someone with a sharingan…..then its OP. I think the same with chun li. If you have someone that has incredible skill or unique traits, they can make the character seem broken. But some characters by themselves just arent that great.

This is how i feel in a lot of fighting games. A lot of characters are either bad or have untapped potential. This is how i feel about my mains in Ultimate, Lucas, K. Rool and Lucario. Heck Justin Wong did this when Max asked to make his low tier team work in MvC2. Justin found some insane Jill set ups and confirms that were just insane.

It's like a Weapon. In the hands of a Master, almost any Character can be Lethal and Top Tier. Most folks wanna take the easy way out. Also, novelty is disruptive and destructive in any field of Competition: Sports, Business, Fighting, or Warfare. If someone comes with a Strategy or Weapons you've never encountered before, a lesser Fighter may win. Experience matters so very much. Sometimes, in Tekken, Super Smash Bros, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter alongside Soul Cal and other Games, folks will bust out Techniques and Strategies that I've never seen or performed before.

I spent this entire season so far really looking at Punk and I am starting to realize that his core strength is what truly makes or breaks a fighting game player: button placement. Yes, that has been obvious since the SFV days but I don't think the average player understands how incredibly important it is to master this skill. The strongest players out there are varying levels of proficient at this with Punk being the genuine beast among them. How this ties into the rest of this topic is fairly simple as well: all buttons have a purpose and can lead to either damage or advantage. It's our job as players to uncover these for our respective characters and bit-by-bit master them. Until we reach a point where we can confidently place the right buttons in the appropriate situations, I don't think we should be concerned about how good or bad our characters are.

Whenever someone in my smash group complains about tiers, it gives me an excuse to bring Mr. bottom tier for 3 games Ganondorf out to remind them that there's more to the game than just tiers :3 People that are good enough to beat that Ganondorf, know better than to assume "low/bottom tier = unwinnable" (That said, best smash player in our group is a Pikachu main that moves like ESAM's Pikachu, and the Ganondorf/Pikachu match up is absolutely horrid for Ganondorf) Anyways, I'm of the mindset of "the best character for you, is the one that gives you motivation to play". Kinda hard to be good at the game if you drop it after all =p 'course, if enough of the game makes you want to play it, you can live with an insufferable character, but even then it feels like a mental handicap if you're always distracted by suffering so you probably would be better off with a fun character = ) My Smash Ultimate main Sephiroth maybe going down the tier list as the game progresses for a variety of reasons, but I ain't going to let that stop me. = ) Other games my friends are afraid to try, so I don't play them as much, so it's just better for me to stick with one and improve with them. Elliana for Rivals. Ed for Street Fighter 6

Laughing at how you used Mewtwo of all characters regarding Smash Ultimate as they're actually my main in that game XD And despite the lack of results (bottom 5 usage), I still strongly believe this character is much better than people think. That and I unironically do better with Mewtwo than other smash characters (even top tiers like Roy or Pikachu). They just fit my playstyle that well and it's all the more reason I appreciate this video from you :3

this is why tier lists are bullshit, play who you enjoy playing and focus on winning hard matchups instead, i main hugo in sf4 and still find new and interesting things he can do yet tons of people dismiss him as a low tier character on their tier lists, hopefully if hugo returns to sf6 a pro player can pick him up and showcase just how good he is

Every time I see videos/posts like this I have to ask the ultimate question: Does this apply to Ganon? Not so much in Brawl where he's legit trash but Ultimate where he's a decent character compared to previous incarnations but powercrept by toptiers and DLC. Ganon is my litmus test to see if people who have this "your character is better than you think" take legitimately believe what they say or not.

Some characters really arent that great. When people find ways to win with them, its that player that is a beast, not the character. Chun li for example is really lacking, and the only reason I can hang is due to character mastery. But I have fought people that will beat my chun li after a difficult fight on my end, and then easily lose to my ryu or ken, who I have no idea how to use outside of ultra basic punishment (123 tatsu knockdown).
@MikeyDLuffy
@MikeyDLuffy 22 күн бұрын
@@sagearmaggedon7307 I have the opposite experience. I have beaten people with my rusty Chun after losing with my hundreds of hours Cammy. In either case, we are both likely not playing Chun Li even remotely optimally, and should focus on trying to get closer to that!
@sagearmaggedon7307
@sagearmaggedon7307 22 күн бұрын
@ I get what you mean, but if you have to do that, it doesn’t make the character good. It means you, the player are good. And truth be told, some people are built differently and are positioned better to use certain tools better. Whenever I fight chun li, I get to jump for free, and my opponents get to do the same to me when I pick her. But then you watch Moke, and people get anti aired the moment they leave the ground. Every character has the potential to be useful, but some you have to work much harder to get there, which to me makes them “bad”. But thats why I dont give up. Im hoping something will click that will allow me to take chun li to new heights.
@MikeyDLuffy

@sagearmaggedon7307 yeah, we're reaching the same conclusion here just from a different perspective. In the video I say that I'm not trying to say that your character may be a secret top tier, they may very well end up being the worst character in the game, but regardless of that, if you choose to play them, you need to know that there is more to explore, so we should focus on that and improving ourself and how we handle situations with our character. Believing that our character is holding us back does nothing but stop you from improving as a player and developing the character further. So even if the character is bad, we should remind ourselves that they are better than the level we play them at currently.
@sagearmaggedon7307
@sagearmaggedon7307 22 күн бұрын
@ It is true that characters are often unexplored. Sometimes the way you think about certain moves can make things better. But when people find ways to do well with lower tier characters like Yoshi, Heihachi in past tekken games, etc, it shows humans potential to rise above problems and difficulties more than anything. Perhaps a video titled “You are Better than You think” would go a long way.

Broski also said that he might try Honda after the buffs. What's in the water and why is it only AKI players drinking from it? On the topic, when Snake Eyez won a tournament witrh S1 Gief he said: "is Gief good? I don't know". If Mr. Zangief himself doesn't know if Gief is good at a particular point why is your average plat 3 Jamie player so convinced that their character is bad? If you're blaming the matchup, your character, or the system mechanics, and all you're doing is looking for confirmation bias for those things, what could you feasibly do to improve your fundamentals to make up that perceived difference? If you can only win when your character is strong and are never able to gap the opponent with a worse character, what does that say about you as a fighting game player? because actually listening to top players they always focus on what in their fundamentals and character usage they could have improved on. If there is an answer to a situation, even if that answer requires some near-superhuman level of prediction, execution, timing, reaction, etc., there's 2 responses to it. One is "this is really unfair they should change it" and "this is really unfair but I'm gonna practice it anyway because it still practices my fundamentals that can be applied in other areas of every fighting game".
