Thank you for putting this together! Do you have more specifics on removing the Y cable? For example, the leads you show around 7:22 in the video, are those the ends that would be connected to ports 2 and 6 in the receiver? Do you happen to have and additional pictures of this?
@GoofballFlyerАй бұрын
It's pretty simple really. The Y cable pops out and 2 very short extension cables get plugged into ports 2 (where the Y was plugged in) and 6 (normally the flaps port) then routed up to the servo bay under the wings. Follow settings in the description very carefully.

Thanks for sharing mods and how-to. If I got the plug-n-play version and put in a ar637T (not TA) I assume I could do the setup/programming without needing to go thru receiver unlocking. I am surprised that they didn’t do this as part of the design. A lot of folks say it just keeps on flying.

I once had a DLG with this flaperon configuration. Worked great for hand landing. Now I got a 2m foam plane very similar to the conscendo and my first to-do was to set up flaperons also to be able to catch the plane by hand however, after some research I read in too many forums that this was a no-no, and the correct way is spoilerons (both ailerons up). I tend to believe flaperons should make it float more and lower the landing speed, but I am confused now. what are your thoughts on which is best to land it at slower speed while keeping it stable?
@GoofballFlyer5 ай бұрын
Spoilers kill lift and increase speed. I tried both, both work, but I'm personally more comfortable with flaps and a little down elevator to keep speed up.

In spite of not being able to convert the AR637TA to an AR637T I did install separate servo wires for the ailerons and was able to get the flaperons working via the instructions. All of the Forward Programming changes didn't work though so the bottom line here is that I got flaperon capability but now AS3X and SAFE don't function at all. BTW, I'm using an NX10SE with it.
@GoofballFlyer5 ай бұрын
The TA is identical to the T except for the T's altimeter. You don't convert TA to T, but load the unlocked T firmware on the TA. I've done this with at least 5 TA receivers to unlocked T version to open up Forward Programming options. One of those was the Conscendo TA. If it's not working you are not doing it right. If Safe is not working you probably have used the Safe channel or switch for setting up flaperons. Or maybe it's something else? I have both Safe and flaperons working fine. On my 3 meter Fox I have SAFE working with it's flaps and crow on the AR637T receiver. That also takes separate aileron cables and receiver ports.
@randylervold5 ай бұрын
@@GoofballFlyer Thanks for the reply! I'm aware that the T and TA are the same other than the altimeter but what stopped me was the inability to do what you indicate by installing the T firmware. You'd done that before so you skipped it in the video. When logged in to MySpectrum account and using the programming software I cannot see any other model files, only what I have registered which is only my TA, not the T. There's nothing I can do to find a list of all their receivers to get it. It's likely I'm doing something wrong since you have now confirmed that you somehow installed T firmware on your TA, but is that because you also own a T so the software let's you have access to it?
@GoofballFlyer5 ай бұрын
You tell the software to update your firmware. It's the Software Update link on the upper left. Even if the receiver has the current version that works. The T and TA firmware is identical, no problem there either. The update should take about 30 seconds. If the Spektrum Programmer sees your receiver that's all you need. Just don't click the Power Cable box if you have a battery connected to the receiver via an ESC. You can blow up a USB port on your computer if you don't follow those instructions. If it would help I can make a detailed video of the process. I have a spare TA I can totally unlock.

Outstanding idea and guidance. I will use this for my Laser maiden but put it on another switch than my fixed 3 rate switch. How does one add this to a template already stored in personal?

For unlocking the receiver with software update and install another version, what was the other version you picked? This seems like a key piece of information that was skipped. Thanks
@GoofballFlyer8 ай бұрын
Actually you always install the latest version. That will unlock a BNF receiver even if it already has the latest version.
@larryhawkes13478 ай бұрын
So I gave that a try as you suggested and reinstall the current software version and even though it unlocks a few basic things, it's far from fully unlocked. Here's another method to fully unlock a receiver and keep all of the existing settings intact, but your technical skills need to be a little higher. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6nJk2x7l8-BZtUsi=iKvTF6hLcS87BtEw
@larryhawkes13478 ай бұрын
The only other way to fully unlock it is to do a factory reset through forward programming, but that resets everything back to defaults with no settings that it came programmed with for the BNF plane that it came in.

Hi, just followed your instructions to install flaperons on my conscendo and I have flaperons, but I only have safe when flaperons aren't being used and when safe is on it's only on 1 aileron...is that normal? Cheers
@GoofballFlyer7 ай бұрын
Not normal the way I set it up. Did you setup SAFE via Forward Programming with 3 flight modes - SAFE/AS3X/No-Gyro - assigned to a 3-way switch? Did you split the ailerons to 2 ports instead of a Y cable?
@daryldeuter6837 ай бұрын
I did set up safe and have it on a 3way switch, the middle position is off now where it was off on position 1, I have 2 leads 1 to output 2 and the other to output 5. Safe works, but only on the aileron plugged into position 2 and the other aileron does not respond to safe input. When I switch on the flaperons safe is not working. I’ll reset everything and try again…see what happens. Thank you for replying that’s fantastic
@daryldeuter6837 ай бұрын
I’m using a DX8E which has forward programming, if that makes any difference?
@GoofballFlyer7 ай бұрын
It should work on a DX8, not sure about a DX6. My receiver is the AR637TA that came with the model. It's worked for others, it should work for you. Are the ailerons plugged into receiver ports 1 and 6? Port 5 will not work, that is the default landing gear port. Port 6 is the default flaps port. I think this may be the issue. Did you go through the aileron servos reversing step in the video? You will need to do a Relearn Servos in Forward Programming! Tom
@daryldeuter6837 ай бұрын
I’ll double check, I did reverse 1 servo to get them working in opposite directions
@daryldeuter6838 ай бұрын
can the receiver be reset with the AS3X programming app ?
@GoofballFlyer8 ай бұрын
You can reset from Forward Programming or from a PC if you have the USB data cable that connects to the receiver's Bind/Programming port. The PC software is available from spektrumrc.cachefly.net/apps/spektrum_programmer.html The $24.95 cable part number is SPMA3065 and can be found at local hobby shops, eBay and Amazon.
