I would definitely want to do my tnt training in the winter. Learning winter driving and everything involved with an experienced driver is invaluable. Then you're not out there on your own for your first winter. Yes it would suck standing out in the cold. But it will make you a better driver.

True story! The security of having your TNT trainer with you during your first winter was great. I made it through the winter storm of 2021. If you remember, it was freezing rain in my face, first thing in the morning, while testing for my CDL

I deliberately am choosing to come where I will be driving in the winter with a trainer b/c it scares me . when bad rain or snow hits and i'm driving a 4wheeler, I find a truck and follow it.. I always reasoned that they were pros and I would be safe with them..

I didn't get my CDL through Prime, but thru a school. Still, it was late fall/ early winter, in Maine, which means the snow was already falling by early November. We tested out in mid-December where there was about 4" of snow-turned-ice that was rutted from a previous group of students. It was 14 degrees with a wind chill of -10. Fun times! So, yeah, we learned winter driving right from the get-go. And one of the biggest hacks is not just getting into a parking spot and shutting down for the night if there is snow on the ground. Pull all the way back in the space, then pull up 5-6 feet. Wait 20 minutes and pull back a foot or 2. Wait another 20 minutes and do it again. Then set your tractor brakes ONLY. This leaves space behind you if you need to rock the truck to get out. Otherwise, the heat from your tires will melt the snow on the ground and it will refreeze overnight, leaving your tires in pockets of ice. This allows your tires to cool off. Yes, your tires will heat up, even in winter. They may seem cold, but they are warm enough to melt the snow. Just spending a few minutes doing this can prevent you from getting a very expensive tow bill, or spending hours digging out. You don't want to set your trailer brakes in winter, because they can freeze up if you have driven in wet/snowy conditions. They, unlike your tractor brakes, have no driving force to break them loose if they freeze. Also, in winter, try moving in reverse to unstick your brakes before trying to move forward (hence the space behind). Shoe/drum brakes are designed to apply the most force against forward motion, and so will release easier when backing. This is especially true if picking up a trailer from a drop yard or at a drop and hook location as you don't know how long it has been since it moved.

@@TwiztedD I am going to Pittson because I live in New York. I use your name as referral Daniel Cox, recruiter call me yesterday and wanted me to come January 3rd, but my application is on hold because of a suspended license for not paying a bicycle ticket I received in 2019🤦🏽♂️ my driving record is good other than that one unpaid bicycle ticket that caused the suspension. The suspension was cleared July 2021. I hope Prime will still accept me. But I did use you as referral 😊
