Love to me is like the ocean. It's an experience felt differently by many; some may be frightened by it, some addicted, while others may only see it through a screen. It has the power to pull you into itself and leave you washed up somewhere you could never imagine.

So grateful to my mom for being the least selfish person I know. She showed me love no matter how stupid or mean I acted. Not that she didn't get angry or never punished me, but I always knew I deserved it. She never punished me over petty issues. I can only hope I've done as well with my kids.

I'm grateful for my mom and I know she means well, but ever since my grandmother has passed on, I feel like it's heavily impacted both myself and my family. Particularly, my mom who despite trying to "show that she loves me" claims that she's always right, and cannot still come to terms with me because of how different I am compared to my other family members. She's always trying to force me to go to church, and whenever I don't do something, she'll guilt trip me and then play the victim like usual

I didn't understand what she was saying until I rewind the video several times and let it sink in, and I think I understood.. a bit. I guess I'm one of those who have self-centered parents, and I do not know what true love is or what she is talking about at all because I haven't experienced it yet. My definition of love was changed from "to take someone as part of yourself" to "having the free will (conscious choice) to take someone as a part of yourself in a way that would meet each others' needs).

Spot. On. I think I've learned this lesson over the past few weeks with my mother--this new definition of love. I've definitely mentalized it, but I don't think I've 'felt' or integrated it truly/fully because I'm still dependent on her, and forced to be connected to her for my own survival. I still have trouble putting other people's needs first, as it 'would' feel like I'm being swallowed. Realizing that I have to fully understand the old definition of love, and therefore see how it's played out in all aspects of my life and those around me, and then let it go. This is what I learned from this video, Teal. Thank you so much for your insight!

About a month ago, I said that I would love to be in a relationship with a woman around my age who would hold me in her arms (like you typically see men doing with women), but I received negative feedback about it, some of which where hurtful accusations, and one person even called me a needy borderline narcissist for needing to feel loved. One person accused me of wanting to take everything from the relationship without giving anything in return, both which were false accusations. I never was the way these people said. I was only speaking a truth about myself. I'm not perverted, like the stereotypes say. I'm not scared of strong women. I respect strong women. I don't see where I went wrong in this. I shattered all of the stereotypes, and still received hurtful feedback. It hurts. : (

I would just like to say to all the beautiful people here that in my opinion, love is only the beginning. I didn't have perfect parents, but I know they loved me...truly loved me...and I'm so grateful for them. My definition of love was never accepting someone no matter what they did to me. Neither was it as perfect as True Love. But there are still complications and issues that will arise; there will be misunderstandings and hurt feelings; compromise and communication are key. Love doesn't mean your relationship will be perfect, and working hard on your relationship doesn't mean love isn't present. We are human beings and we are imperfect. We have to work for everything and that means getting comfortable is not an option. So remember...love is only the beginning.

The essence of love is: acceptance and/or appreciation. Unconditional love is unconditional acceptance and/or appreciation. "Mutual best interests" is a natural flow from acceptance and/or appreciation of the other into "oneness" of both. "Mutual best interests" brings forth a lot of questions, most answered by knowing the others needs.

This video came at the perfect time. I was balling my eyes out just yesterday, because I also held the old definition of love. I kept having visions of a dark road ahead if i continued on this particular timeline in pursuit of this love. In holding the old perspective I had the realization that to be "loved" by some is much worse than being hated by them. What I thought was love brought about a great fear of neglecting myself and my own needs in order to make the other person happy. I knew that I was capable of such behavior in thinking that this love was unconditional. I was ready to risk my own safety is a strange way. The pull that I had towards this person felt like I knew him from a past life or something, much like a moth to an ancient flame. I made the hard decision to let him go. he said that I gave up too easy, but I say I didn't give up. I learned to let go. I have hope that this new definition of love will manifest itself into my reality. Teal, I hope one day we can be real friend's and that you'll truly feel this new definition that you speak of too. People think that they love us, because we are beautiful, smart, and interesting. people's opinions of these conditions for "love" could change for whatever reason. Will they love us then? I want to know what love is for myself. I may not fully understand oneness and unconditional love yet, but i can say this, I appreciate your content and love you for it. You are changing the world even though some days may feel more difficult than others. Keep making them and I'll keep watching. 💛💛💛💛

I have been a fan of Teal's since I discovered her about a year ago, but I feel I've finally outgrown her work. That's a good thing, I guess. But I am also sad that I don't feel inspired by her work as much. Oh well. Maybe I will again down the road. In terms of the law of attraction, which she also teaches, I'm not sure why she puts so much energy into the problems, rather than solutions, which is a completely different energy than the problem. Does anyone else feel this way? Just curious. Wishing Teal and everyone all the best.

Truth cuts through all masks and lies.... Thank you for this video. I love how honest, and authentic you are about this stuff. It shows character and courage it's inspiring... I wonder how much expectations ruin relationships especially those that go unsaid. It would be very good to understand and know the expectations you have before you go into relationship and see where and why you need these things. You could then work on the real issues that make you feel lacking in certain things like affection, attention, sexuality, or whatever it is you feel a lack of and not project it on someone else.

Ego isn't us, the realization that the ego is but a "special'" trap program by the power that be in order to keep you in a spiral low frequency matrix. You are really your higher Self, and must tune to it, and realize that in order to escape the "false." matrix you have to uncreate your ego who is set to be the guard keeping you in your mental matrix prison.

Awesome, great lesson, no surprise if many of us watching this start to weep 🙏, I feel very much related to this lesson in particular. I've always wondered when doing things to people out of love (unconditionally ) and they question my motivation , or didn't appreciate it, that i start doubting my self, although my intuition tells me I'm right (wasn't aware about the fact that we've been conditioned this way). Thank you so much Teal 💚 🌿🌹 🙌💫💎

To me, Teal might not have “all” answers… but damn, this resonated, … only with a couple of videos this woman helped me through things psychologists couldn’t. So thank you so much Teal

Nothing is said on how to find or encourage others to act in this way.. most of the time people are happy to take what they can from you. Let talk about how to actually execute this. How do you act as one being when the other feels they are independant..

I think real love in this earthly life is by definition a little complex, there we all suffer for egoparts, demands of society, fear based environment... I think there is still hope ofcourse...

Teal is such an amazing human...Every video is so profound, and every word is so deeply rooted in your deeper 'inner knowing' it seems she keeps reminding us, guiding us, towards this 'deeper truth'...as if we've all 'known' all along and Teal is there, every week to 'remind us' of what we have 'forgotten'....Sending love and blessings to Teal and family.

You get exposed to life to different stages of life. From the moment of birth to 9months and then to 3years old, then to 15-18. However you apply all these on one person first, yourself. Your partner later reflect your relationship with you, if you think you are out of shape and try to justify everything through your heaviness, the partner leaves and use your weight as the excuse. You need to accept yourself fully to accept anyone else as part of you.

It's interesting to see this. I reached a similar conclusion about 7 years earlier then when this video was published when I decided to look up the definition of love and trust and respect. The definitions aren't so definitive, it leaves the reader to interpret their own philosophy behind the meanings of these words. The challenge is finding people with this mutual philosophy.

Thanks Teal, this helped me. The generations of background programming of how love is expressed as a need/want onesided and not mutual understanding causes gaps in relationships an even shapes personalities.
