Whoa dude congrats on 300k! Also, this is a very interesting piece of hardware. I like the old school look of it.

Very cool and different piece of hardware. Always looking for things that could possibly replace the need for a ton of capture cards and such in a multi cam/person setup

Good video. Roland makes amazing gear. The pre-amps sound a little bit iffy, but for all the other things this thing can do, maybe it's worth it to look for a software solution to make the audio sound better.

Careful with those rattles. I have an 18" Behringer powered subwoofer that had a rattle in the amp area until it suddenly burst into flames. After performing an autopsy on it I surmised a piece of metal wire like from a snipped off resistor leg had made contact with the power input board resulting in a fire that would have burned my house down if I hadn't been paying attention

I wish hardware makers with devices like this would build their configuration UI as a website. There's no reason that they couldn't build this as a web application hosted inside the device and add ethernet class protocols over the existing USB connection and allow for any OS to be able to use is via a standard web browser.
@esaedvik3 жыл бұрын
And as such, it could be customizable too.

Can this be used for live stream at an event?

5:40 is there a reason companies don't make web-interfaces for their products? That would make the device cross platform out of the box and all the settings would be stored on the device itself. Routers have that, some webcam apps for phones too afaik. And there's definitely gonna be zero issues with scaling lol.

security and complexity, mainly
@gutterg0d3 жыл бұрын
@@obvious_humor if it's secure and workable enough for pretty much all security cams, routers and network audio mixers I highly doubt that's the deciding factor. I'm guessing it doesnt have a web interface simply because it's not a networked device. :)

Whoa! I jus got the Elgato xlr and hd60 s + and now thinking of returning them both for this Roland! So so curious at the 4:00 min mark of how you set up the console and camera for a game stream! COULD YOU PLEASE DO A TUTORIAL ON HOW YOU SET IT ALL UP FOR A CONSOLE STREAM?!? Man I would greatly appreciate it! I have a XBOX Series X, Elgato facecam, Sony ZV-E10, Mac mini M1, and iPad mini I’d love to hook all up! U said u hooked the console to the the Roland via hdmi but mentioned a pass through?!? Is that a certain cable? Like hdmi one end to console and hdmi to the Roland? Or did u use that pass through end on the i/o off Roland? Sorry for the noob Q’s but with this Roland I feel like I could return MOST of my Elgato stuff (hd60 s+, Wave xlr,) for this one Simple interface! Thanks so much for the amazing content man and hope you n the family had a amazing holidays! And LASTLY what dope headset are you using?!! That mic quality is great on it!

I work on Roland (rss) audio mixers at my main gig and, man… these interfaces! RSS has always released very feature filled gear - but those frick’n menus! And it always seems like the overall product was designed to the standards 10 years ago. *And* some of the behavior of tools like the compressors can be pretty distortion-ful.

We had something similar to this at my college with similar features set and the fact that is is only 600 dollars is amazing. Definitely prosumer but that's definitely better than a 3000 dollar video mixing board.

You're sending rather mixed messages between the video and the description and title. 1 e.g. “the controls are super cramped and hidden behind sub windows or extra menus or layers of menus” in video vs. "The Roland VR-1HD AV Streaming Mixer makes this super easy" in description.
@EposVox3 жыл бұрын
I even address this in the video when I say initial setup and basic use is basically plug and play and awesome, while advanced configuration is annoying due to the obtuse software.

Most Disturbing... "I still have not seen 'Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse'"; Epos, this is a must-see movie, pop-culture moment, that may be the most underrated movie in the last 5-10 years. (full disclosure i may be partial as i am a former New Yorker and lived in Brooklyn for about 3 years). You should do a react video on it. :)
