I also love those "cookies" that they talked about in the end and I am from Sweden. I love going to greece and my boyfriend is actually greek so every time I go there to visit him his mother buys me all of the chocolate and always those cookies. Love this channel because it helps me understand a bit more greek and simply listening to it and reading the english can be helpful!

Ευχαριστώ πάρα πολύ! One of my favorite myths is the one about Bellerofon and Pegasus. I like it because it's a story about an extraordinary man who had his ambitions and who had basically a lot of power but then he lost everything because he was extremely ambitious. Also I like it because it takes place in the region of Antalya in modern-day Turkey and I travel to this area pretty often, even now I'm here :)

Wow very interesting topic 👍🏾 I used to enjoy reading various mythological stories from around the world. I find Greek mythology quite similar to Vedic mythology. Vedic mythology is 1 of the oldest form of Indian mythology.
@EasyGreekVideos
@EasyGreekVideos 4 жыл бұрын
In what ways would you say they're similar?
@jaskatpon1
@jaskatpon1 4 жыл бұрын
@@EasyGreekVideos Many ways although the names of the gods are different but the story and description of their characters are a bit similar. For example, Indra is the equivalent of Zeus. Indra is the god of weather and carries a thunderbolt as his weapon. Like Zeus, Indra is known to have bad temper and is a womanizer. Greeks have Trojan war where Paris abducts Helene wife of another King, thus causing a war between kingdoms involving many characters. Indians have Ramayana where Ravana abducts Sita, a wife of Rama, thus causing a war between kingdoms involving many characters too. Yama is the equivalent of Hades, gods of underworld. Actually the list is long. You can check out the similarities on Google. Thanks.

@@jaskatpon1 Since Sanskrit and Greek come from a common, older people, the Indo-Europeans, we can suppose that our mythologies also have a common starting point with them. Fascinating stuff.

My mum told me the Myth of Phrixus and Elli, riding the flying Ram. Poor Elli fell to her death and the Ellispont is named for her. bI was 3 or 4 years old, it stuck in my head. In Sydney's Hyde Park we have the Archibald Fountain, which is adorned with statues of the Minotavros being killed by Theseas, Apollo, and Artemis. I learnt a lot of myths from that fountain. It is also where my dad pulled out a lot of my baby teeth at.

I think non-Greeks know more about Greek myths than the Greeks. Oh, and my favourite myths are the life of Heracles (Hercules), the Odissey and the cycle of Troy (especially Aquiles & Patroclus, and Hector), and among the Twelve Gods of Olympus I have a very soft spot for Phoebus Apollo, the Shining One, the Perfect One, the One and Only, simply my God.
