Παρα πολύ ωραίο το βίντεο!! Εγώ μαθαίνω ελληνικά, και έχω λίγο τελειομανία. Ήταν πολύ χρήσιμο όταν είπε το "να σκεφτούμε ότι είναι ενα ταξίδι να μάθεις μια γλώσσα". Πολλά χαιρετίσματα από την Αργεντινή

Started learning the Greek language on August 1, 2019. It's been a good challenge and a real joy! I am 56 and this is the 2nd language I've tried to learn as an adult. I appreciate the guidance that was given in this interview, since I am also nervous and trying to speak too fast. Also I over think things and that causes me to stumble over my words. I'm looking forward to a long journey with the Greek language! Blessings.

Greeks generally will be forgiving if you attempt to speak in their language although they might not understand some words if you butcher them bad enough. I think people from English speaking countries have a better ability to understand bad or new english speakers because we hear so many people with a range of accents speaking it whereas smaller countries don't have that opportunity. Having said that, out of the European countries the Greeks are very pleased to hear you try Greek so definitely don't be afraid to try on them!

In many ways this was the best episode you've done. As a native English speaker, a writer, and a podcast host, I'm constantly playing around with the English language; sometimes its works, sometimes not exactly how I wanted. But with my struggles with Greek, I feel that if I can't say something 100% correct, I freeze up and this happens 90% of the time. I think with most of us language learners, we cut ourselves zero slack, yet when people speak to us in English that is their 2nd or 3rd language and make a mistake, it's always no big deal. All we can do is to keep going on that journey.

Thank you! I came here to comment almost the same thing. I am German (learning Greek for about a year, also interested in other languages ) and I'm working at a public library in Hamburg so I'm constantly in contact with people who have English even as their 3rd or 4th language. But although I'm fluent in English - with official C2 levels and all - I'm insecure when I'm around native speakers. And it would NEVER EVER cross my mind to judge someone whose English (or German) isn't perfect. But when it comes to my own skills.... What's going on with our brains? Do you think there is a difference between English as some kind of lingua franca and other languages when it comes to your own skills?

Very, very helpful. This is a theme which is mentioned in my lessons from time to time, but this is the first time that it has been covered in such depth and detail, and by two people who clearly understand the nature of the problem. It's a problem I have had for some time, probably like many people, and this has suggested a different approach for me. Thank you.

The quality of the videos is amazing guys especially when you have the phonetic translation of the Greek writing so we can read it In English which is a huge help. Maybe you could add it to old Episodes?? One problem I find is that Greek people often reply back In English if you Are slow or make a mistake. They don’t mean to and they just think they are helping Could you do an episode on some phrases or things you could say when faced with this challenge !! Thanks
@EasyGreekVideos4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, we cannot add them to existing episodes, and we mostly use them for Super Easy episodes - they're meant for absolute beginners! Nice idea for an episode though
@knavishlassie4 жыл бұрын
I just tell them in Greek, "I'm learning Greek. Could we speak Greek, please?" --and they are usually very happy to oblige. in fact they are even friendlier and more helpful when they know you are interested in Greek language and culture.

I find it quite interesting that the word 'Kudos' as you translated the μπρἀβο, is of common use in the English language but yet disappeared from the modern spoken Greek, does anyone still use that word in Greece, did it evolve into something similar? Great Episode as always : )
@rafaeltlv17954 жыл бұрын
you cannot translate kudos literally in Greek it would sound strange as it cannot be used in the same context. Cultural differences are also reflected in the language

Μιλώντας για τελειομανία, η Δανάη είπε "δεν θα" και "σε όσους" (σ ' όσους). Εγώ βάζω το νι παντού. Επίσης είναι "ένα" κι όχι "έναν". Το "εάν" το λέμε στην δημοτική;

Hey guys! I'm saying this in English just so what I'm saying is super clear. Can you turn down the volume of the προσοχή because it's a bit too alarming. I get that you want people's attention but you kind of startled me. Also with the stuff about your patreon could you possibly shorten it a bit, or just say that details are at the end / in the description because it can get a bit annoying after a while. I totally get why you're doing it (I'm sure YT analytics said a lot of people didn't watch until the end) but just so it's not too distracting
