If you filed your taxes and you had a refund through a direct deposit into your bank account, then it will be deposited into your account starting on the 9th through the 15th. If you didn't file taxes last year then you will have to file this year in order to get it. (Sounds fair) If you didn't get a refund then you will receive a check through the mail. How about a little patience and kindness, the government doesn't have to give us anything. Be grateful it is the kindest thing to do.

Hey am I able to call the IRS to aask them to send me my W-2 form from 2018? The employer I worked for refused to help me since it's a Temporary Labor service downtown and they apparently Only hold onto the current and previous year W2 forms.. @@BudMcSmokeYo You can call the IRS and ask them for your annual wages transcript. If you worked one job, it will be no different then what would be on your w-2. You should be able to use that to file taxes. Not sure how.it works if you worked multiple jobs. All wages are combined on the transcript. You can request one through the automated system or online.

How long do you think that can take assuming the entire IRS makes it their priority for the next two weeks? Dude, 3 weeks is a fair estimate. Hell, it's optimistic. I'd be shocked if I got mine before the third week of April. And people who owe child support aren't getting anything, that money is going to their back payments, and if you didn't file taxes since 2017 you don't get anything unless you file a tax return. And if your kids are 17 or older you're not getting the $500 per dependent. They have accountants working on this, not computers. They're not just randomly sending checks to people.

From my understanding you don't have to file taxes if you're on SSI, the IRS just bases it off the 1099 form you get yearly and then they'll then use your social security information and deposit the money in your bank account.

Sorry, but the IRS hasn't set up a page for "simple" tax returns, it doesn't exist yet. They have no date as to when they might set up a "simple" tax return page either.

I understand the people complaining about not being able to get their money quicker, but understand the kind of task that is being asked here. The IRS has 74,454 employees, you can look this up. These employees, and it's a smaller number than that that will actually be doing the work, are responsible for getting this information out for 300,000,000+ people's checks. There's a reason tax season lasts a couple months instead of the few weeks we're dealing with here. Take a minute to appreciate that just using raw numbers, each of the IRS' employees are responsible for 4,000 people. Take an average of 5 minutes per person, that's 335 hours over 3 weeks for every single employee at the IRS. And considering less than every employee at the IRS is going to be doing this work, you can count it being more than that per person.

@@brendaaugustine4925 - You could! There are a few things you could do to avoid using your main account. One is, create another one just for this check. Of course, everything about you is tied to SSN, so it isn't all that hard for the feds to track your bank account(s) if you've never had a freeze on your current account, I would open another IF you decide to use their website to give them direct deposit info.

Jtrivett79 - That’s true, and I’ve already stated that, however, they, the IRS, make mistakes, I can vouch for that, as in my case they froze the wrong account at a different bank totally, at which point I withdrew everything I had in the other! The best thing to do is to keep a minimal amount in your account. I do agree though, you cannot hide from your SSN. In this case regarding the disaster check, if you can wait, opt to just have it mailed.

I keep finding really vague answers about the back child support ordeal. With that being said - it is really sad that if back child support is owed, these men or women won’t get a check. My husband’s situation is so unique and the “great” state of Texas is reporting him in arrears. Not because he’s a dead beat as so many of you are calling other people. The mother took the girl and violated a court order he had that prevented her from leaving the DFW area along with multiple CPS cases. After he tracked her down via social media we took her to court to get temporary orders to establish visitation rights where we basically lost and they overlooked the child abuse and previously violated court order. After this, my husband began paying and never missed a payment. Fast forward to now, a final order was done and the “mother” provided a false address (despite knowing where we live since we had temporary orders and their daughter came to visit us) to the court and my husband was never properly served. She was awarded back child support and the state of Texas automatically put him in arrears. So, according to this, we won’t get anything because we filed as a joint married couple. We have two children of our own that we claimed but given they seized our tax return, they’ll probably do the same here. It’s sad because many people are losing jobs, getting hours cut, and the extra help is needed.

Its not fair at all. Everyones situation is different yet they are classifying all ad "deadbeat". My situation:20+ years ago my kids were removed from their dad's care and placed in foster care. Well fast forward to this year and bam! my tax refund was taken. No notice at all. Only way I found out what was going on was by calling the offset hotline. So now I won't get the stimulus either.They are now 30 and 35 years old. I also have a 20 year old disabled son at home who gets SSI. Most people will not have to sign up it will just be deposited into ur account. If you haven't filed you just need to file its not a big deal. People on social and disability need to sign up on a portal on the irs website after it goes live I say within a week or two.

The IRS portal that allows you to enter your payment information says "do not continue if you are not entering your spouses information." So how does someone that is separated and in the process of divorcing stop there stimulus payment from going to there soon to be ex spouse? Please answer this question.
