2:57 - Rim sticker says maximum 130kgf spoke tension... that is low, especially for 20 spoke (I think they drill them down to 16/18 too). Really would expect around 150/160kpf for a max figure, 130kpf being average, for a solid wheel. Do you have a spoke tension meter? I'd be curious what tension these wheels come at from the factory.

Thanks for the vid. I am having trouble trying to fit tyres onto my carbon wheels. My wheels are 25mm width and I'm using Conti GP4ksII 23c... Also, if I puncture outside, I find it will be hard to pump the tyre up for the bead to set in if I cant pump it to over 100psi... Lastly, does carbon brake pads wear out faster than normal alu brake pads? Any suggestions? Thanks...
@stevenleffanue
@stevenleffanue 9 жыл бұрын
+perwiratempur Hi "perwiatempur". Some tyres are harder to fit than others. If the tyre is tight to fit you may need to use some tyre levers...careful not to catch and puncture the tube whilst doing so. If its still too hard to pull over the rim,put a light dust of talcum powder all the way around the tyre beading...this will help it slip on. If you have pumped the tyre up to 100psi and it still has a down spot or two,put some soap and water or dishwashing liquid and water on the area that needs to pop up. Yes,brake blocks for carbon rims are softer than for aluminium rims and will wear quicker. There are some very good cheap blocks out there that are excellent ....small price to pay for looking after your carbon wheels.Wiggle have "Life line", set of 4 for less than $7 .

@TimmiMontreal
@TimmiMontreal 6 жыл бұрын
Why do you want grease on the cassette body? Sprockets never get stuck. it only turns it into a grease-magnet. Also, I am a bit sceptical of said "necessity" to "lower pressure when in storage to avoid warping of rim over time". if you look at how tough and stiff CF rims are, in some tests on here, you quickly come to understand that no comparison can be made with plastic (CD/DVD) disks or vinyl records that have no carbon-fibre reinforcement in their structure. I suspect that both these things are unnecessary.
@stevenleffanue
@stevenleffanue 6 жыл бұрын
Just a small smear of grease prevents the cassette creaking on the body....often occurs after wet rides and the bike dries out.

Greetings!! may I ask what type of braking Surface would you recommend, carbón or alloy, and why??
@stevenleffanue
@stevenleffanue 8 жыл бұрын
+Andres Cisneros Brake pad technology for carbon brake tracks is equal to alloy braking these days. An alloy track may last longer than carbon track with exception to extremely light alloy rims where it would match the life of the carbon. Some carbon wheels have alloy brake track to get the best of both carbon and alloy. Most carbon wheelsets are now full carbon tho.

Have to say this is not the case if you are climbing proper cols and then descending. Carbon overheats, and then delams. Not funny at 60kph.

These look like 50 mm Yoeleo wheels. Can you confirm and provide the specifics of the actual model this is? They have a bewildering number of selections on their site, and while many are clearly just repeated in different areas, it's hard to keep track of which is which. I'm looking at some wheels like this and am keen to know how these are working out for you now?

+oz cycle Ok, thanks for the quick reply. Looks like I was close, but no cigar. Just a few questions if you don't mind. You've been riding these for a while now and the novelty of a new purchase will have worn off, so it's probably a good time to ask. Are you still happy with them now? Would you buy that exact same combination now if they were damaged or stolen and you had to do it all again? Is there anything you'd do differently? I've been looking for a new wheel set, coming off Mavic Ksyrium ES, a second set but now an old wheel and worn out. I never mind wearing gear out! I'm 70 kg, and looking at lightweight 38 or 50 mm full carbon wheel so your opinions and experience has been very well received. Thanks
@stevenleffanue

+Pete F So far done 5,000km on these 60mm....very happy. I am 79kg and ride country roads which are pretty rough here. If and when I buy another wheelset,I will go with Yoeleo. You would have no probs at 70kg with 38 or 50mm. Yoeleo isnt the cheapest of the cheap but worth it for their sheer reliability. Hope this helps your confidence Pete :)

+oz cycle Awesome, thanks for that! Yeah it looks like you live down south of ADL. I'm originally from Adelaide and always enjoy my riding when I get over there (in SYD now, nothing is flat up where I am!). The riding around ADL city is great, and the Adelaide hills the next best thing to riding in Europe. Fast, flowing, and interesting. The roads out in the country are crap chip and seal however! I appreciate the good news story. I'm not after super-cheap, these are going on my old Time VXR, and it's still a great frame. I no longer race, but still enjoy my riding. I see the company advertise using DT-Swiss and Sapim spokes for example and have asked if they are genuine. I've also asked both those companies if this company is a customer. The two stories better align or I won't be supporting them. I regularly buy direct from China and I've had variable experience, hence my trepidation. Having said that, if everything is Kosher and they're finally latching on to the idea of building a brand and not just a series of cheap sales, then I'll be all over it.
