We could not do this without community support. With special thanks to the University of Oregon for their presenting partnership. The world-class stage design and lighting program provided by Meyer Pro Inc and Outlaw Lighting. The incredible legacy bound Event Book provided by Premier Press. Lastly, the brand identity and creative digital craft provided by our Agency of Record - Thesis. All of our Partners and event history can be found at TEDxPortland.com
Robert Guldberg is Executive Director of the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact and Vice President of the University of Oregon. As a Professor of Bioengineering, Robert’s research group has published 280 papers over the past 30 years on musculoskeletal regenerative medicine, mechanobiology, and orthopedic medical devices. He co-founded six companies to translate his research into patient impact and was recently elected to the National Academy of Inventors. In 2020, Dr. Guldberg and collaborators co-created the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance, a $220 million initiative to transform human health through the science of peak performance. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I’m confused….was this ever a question? 😅 I mean, healing and immune systems clearly go together, right? Maybe I’m just used to our FiV kitties and the constant upkeep of their health.

I think we’ve always known that they go hand in hand but there is so much information that is passed throughout the body (through hormones and other signaling mechanisms) and so much patient to patient variation (body composition, bone shape, shape of fracture) that it’s hard to determine what part of the immune response is triggering specific regeneration pathways. That seems to be why they are using machine language - to find individual mechanisms of inflammation and immunosuppression that contribute to patient outcomes

The body can only regenerate itself to a certain point and only certain organs have that capacity for full healing capability.

This is all great and all but wealth is also health. If you dont have wealth (in example your real estate portfolio) then you cant use your money and resources to eat/ become healthy.
