Thanks a lot for this really inspiring conversation. I have a question : you are saying we are feeling our thinking. Another person from the 3P community says that we are feeling the impersonal, neutral power of thought moving thru us. I feel like these 2 statements are contradictive. Or are they saying the same? Could you talk about this pls?

Hi Vera, They are saying the same thing with a different emphasis. The Principle of Thought is a formless, impersonal energy that creates all mental activity, including all of our thinking content. The content is brought to life by the creative energy behind life and manifests as our sensory experiences and feelings. Hope this puts it all together!!

Can you please explain how the principles can relate to recent trauma? My young son was in a terrible road accident and it’s left me with constant fear, anxiety and depression which I can’t shift. Though I’m aware we are always feeling our thinking. Thank you so much.

Hi Linda, trauma is an event that is only carried through time by our thinking. It is normal to have the feelings you are describing. When we understand that they are created by our thinking in the moment and not by a past trauma, then we can discover that returning to the present moment allows our upsetting thoughts to dissipate, and are replaced by thoughts and feelings that are more uplifting. This is how any of us get over trauma. I hope this is helpful. With love, Dicken

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply Dicken. Yes that does all make sense. And thank you for validating that what I’m going through is normal. Those around me don’t. My son was critical with brain and other injuries. Only 12. Hit and run on his way home from school. Just 5 minutes from our home. However the accident was in May last year. And followed other severe trauma and my own chronic health issues. So I’m having a difficult time getting back to baseline. I find myself now with what I believe is called anhedonia. And can’t feel positive emotions. All the things that used to give me joy, my son, my dog, nature, music etc I seem to have no connection with. So I struggle looking for a better feeling when coming back to the now. Thinking positive I realise is just more thinking so just trying to let thoughts go as neutrally as possible. May I ask, do you feel that trauma can get trapped in the body, as explained by Peter Levine and Bessel van der Kolk? I have many symptoms which are real but I realise are generated by chronic stress. Can the nervous system get stuck on fight/flight or in my case possibly freeze state? I have been aware of the Principles for a few months. But I really feel disconnected from any feeling state. So intellectually all makes sense but insight of innate wellness and being ok… not a feeling for me. Is it just a matter of time before my windshield clears as you put it? With grateful thanks and love, Linda.

@@lindakaye100 Trama is always experience in the body, but it is not trapped because we are all part of a vast energy system that envelops the body and is the source of change. When people’s minds are quite, beyond all concepts, shifts in consciousness happen. Shifts originate from the formless energy field, not from the body. The capacity of humans to have shifts explain how people can heal from trauma. This is very hopeful. I suggest you listen to my teacher Sydney Banks talk about this. www.Syd banks.com Look for his book The Enlightened Gardener Revisited. Take care Linda, Dicken

So how can you interrupt and stop thinking?

Trying to stop thinking is like trying to stop a river. We may have lots of thoughts flowing through our mind but we no longer have to believe them or give them our attention. This is called free will.
