How magnanimous is Bishop Barron? So magnanimous I believe one day he’ll be Pope. So magnanimous he’ll be canonized as a saint. My dream-I just want, just one time, to listen to him deliver a sermon in person. Maybe see him in person. Before I die. Meanwhile, we are so blessed, I get to watch him deliver God’s Word every single day. Pray the rosary with him every day. How blessed am I. How blessed are we all.

@birdlynn417 Maybe. There are people all around you in those apartments that may need to know God through you, or who may be able to show you a greater revelation of God and your own purpose. You may meet some ppl where you are that completely change your life. I say this as someone who has lived in various less than ideal situations and even in some unsustainable environments, which I thank God that I'm no longer subjected to. Nevertheless even among those environments I have found lifelong friends and family that have completely changed my life (for the better!). And I know I've made the same kind of impact on their lives. Ask God to show you what and who he has for you during this time. He's faithful, He will show you. And it's also possible that you won't always be living where you are right this moment. But what I'm learning is that all we have is this moment, so we need to realize what we do have and all we can have right now. Peace and I'll pray you find those connections, that hope and that meaning

You mentioned the experiences imposed on male adolescents in many primitive cultures. That raised the question about comparable historical rites of passage for female adolescents. In many indigenous and primitive cultures, including Native American tribes, there were and still are significant rites of passage for adolescent females that are comparable in importance, though they often differ in form and focus from those for males. These experiences were designed to foster spiritual and cultural development, marking the transition from girlhood to womanhood.

You are free to live life seeking self gratification. Live for yourself. That's a choice you can make... However, Solomon did just this, and found that "all is vanity..." I think it is good to recognize that what we do in life, and the fact that we're here individually, goes beyond ourselves, and so we must care about what God wants and serving others. What I disagree with is belittling our own interests and worries, as if it didn't matter that God created us individually, in a different way, with a more or less unique personality, with our own stories. Also, how can we strive both for humility and magnanimity?
@bernadettedease20992 ай бұрын
I believe but I agonise over all the horrible things that happen on earth. Why does God permit so much suffering. I know suffering carries value. But what about the suffering of babies and animals. I cannot understand how a loving and merciful God can allow that.
@AndrewKendall712 ай бұрын
"Caved in around oneself" sounds like woundedness, injury, trauma. Is it possible to reconcile with mercy the small-souled woundedness of the sinful with that which caused it? Or is the same overcoming and penitence expected of all believers? Also, I've been convinced by mature believer friends that life in Christ is meant to be enjoyed. I'm trying to drive that thought away because it has been very very painfully costly to think it, to expect that.

Barron lost my trust when he said that "we have good hope that all go to heaven" and when asked by Ben Shapiro whether Jesus is the only way to salvation said "He is the preferred way." In my opinion the internet has proven to be a trap for many clerics and pastors. I think the desire for followers, likes and fame have led many or even all to make Jesus's message more palatable for all people. Some of their messages may still be truthful but they are mixed in, in my opinion, with dangerous messages. Some pastor (you can google the quote to find him) said "One day the shepherds will no longer lead the sheep but rather the clowns will be entertaining the goats". I think we are there. Just saying....

Generally, the people who tell you that "your life is not about you", only say that to try and get you to make your life all about them. Very common form of projection that comes from controlling and narcissistic people. The catholic church loves people who dont have dreams. They love the poor who dont have the means to live life on their own terms. They love the ignorant who could chase great dreams if only they knew enough to be inspired. And above all they love the fearful, those who have bought their supernatural threats hook line and sinker, and so they willfully give up on their dreams to appease a celestial dictator, and of course praise, tithe, and grovel at the feet of his mouthpieces here on earth. life itself is not always and everywhere only about you. If it were you'd be the only person alive on earth, but *your* life IS *yours* to live. Thats what it means to be free and live in a free society. You dont have to sacrifice your dreams because some vapid and loquacious cosplay wizard who routinely basterdizes ancient philosophy, says so. Mkay? Mkay😒
