The more and more I hear calls like this, the more and more amazed I am with the sheer power of mind control/ psychological control religious beliefs have on people, and how it warps/ skews their thinking of many other things. Staggers me every time. Also, equally amazing, is how they happily dismiss every other religious belief out of hand and you can tell they are lying that they know anything about competing religions (by regularly getting facts about them wrong), and not having a problem with facing THEIR flavours of "Hell" or "eternal torment" for not believing in them! So it really sounds like a comfort blanket. What's worse is that John, like others, are in a false state of thinking that their beliefs/ religion should be exempted from questioning or challenge!

It makes me sad to hear a person defending a religion that was used to keep his ancestors in slavery. It's not the bible that says that people in heaven will enjoy watching the tortures in hell. It was a 'saint'.
