Pretty awesome idea to monitor for over/under power consumption. Shelly devices are pretty awesome.

@@handydadtv I'm kind of surprised that your fan is pulling so much power. My fan pulls about 50 watts and isn't near as noisy. I honestly didn't realize there may be different sizes. Has it always been that loud?

Love the configurability in the Shelly app! Very nice. I will be looking into these. Great video and thanks for sharing!

I’ve used Shelly relays for over five years. They work great and control my pool pump quick clean mode, my whole house fan etc. I did decide to go with Lutron casita for my light switches.

This is my first but it won’t be my last.

I have a similar setup(hate the noise ), but you can actually take the smarts up one more level. I have an ecosense RD 200 meter in the basement which then talks Bluetooth to an esp32 device which talks to home assistant and based on the radon levels it will turn the fan on and off automatically. Also associated alerts if any readings exceed limits. It is interesting to monitor how the radon levels change based on various environmental (weather) conditions.

That’s awesome! Definitely a premium approach that I shall aspire to!

Thanks for the breakdown of those Shelly switches. Glad you fixed the cover and wiring. I noticed bad wiring to that switch. Also that weather box I noticed before you said anything that it was put in wrong cause I just put in 3 of those boxes my self

@@jeremiahpowell3028 it’s funny they had a proper in use weather box but installed it wrong. Our house had outdoor receptacles but they were t the in use kind so I replaced them all. Who puts a receptacle outside for low voltage house lighting and a pool pump and doesn’t thing they need in use weatherproof?

Don't have a Radon fan, but I can think of a few uses for that relay...

If you don’t need power monitoring, Shelly makes several different kinds of relays.

Thanks for sharing another cool home automation widget! One thing I'm always weary about is how long the vendor is going to be around and provide have their cloud services available. I found your site a couple of years ago, when Insteon's network went dead. I wasn't directly affected since I used my own Universal Devices ISY controllers. I'm still heavily invested in the Insteon camp, and will be looking to migrate from my Universal Devices ISY controller to their new EISY / Polisy controller soon. Can't wait to finally integrate other WiFi devices in the new home controller.

Thanks for the comment! I understand how comfortable you can get with ISY devices after using them for years. I can attest, there is life after ISY if you want to invest the time and learn something new. As you know, I moved to Home Assistant last year and continue to learn new ways to use it.

You can run Shelly devices without Shelly cloud. You can also flash them but the default firmware allows Mqtt etc so it’s not necessary

What I want is to be able to control the speed of the fan like a dimmer
@handydadtv4 ай бұрын
I don’t know if that’s possible.

I've never understood why nobody paints the PVC pipe to match the house color.

Good question! But I’m more bothered by the noise than the visual impact.
