@@el9551 For the highest speeds, it requires using the highest frequency band. There are low(about the same as traditional 3g,4g frequency bands), mid(seems a bit higher than highest of previous versions) and high frequency bands(new band). The highest frequency band is well over 10GHz. True it's not just for phones, but the same thing is already done with 4g and 3g. 5G FWA doesn't seem to be any different other than the gear installed at the fixed location, and still seems to be relatively short range for high frequency/high speed.

I live in a rural town in New England. A few years ago I noticed houses going on the market and they would not sell. Some were beautiful custom homes with beautiful property. I spoke to someone at our townhall and they said it was lack of internet. You could not give your home away. People were walking away from very nice homes. People would not rent them either..I was fortunate and had DSL. Only a few houses had DSL. Two years ago our town worked a deal with a small provider and we now have high speed internet. It has completely changed everything. My home price has increased by at least 70 grand and homes sell in days. All the abandoned homes have been purchased and fixed up. Trying to sell a home without high speed internet is like trying to sell a house without electricity. I am happy to see you resolved your issue. Take care

Yes to the 5G, but it has nothing to do with Wi-Fi. That's the short distance 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz signal your phone, laptop, "insert applicable device here" uses. I don't know the exact frequency the satellites from starling use, but typical internet satellite, and many other satellite communications such as in my state highway patrolman use them for their satellite radios, fall somewhere into the very broad range of the Ku or Ka bands. 12G hz up to 40 Ghz.

So what happens to speeds when each satellite reaches max users? Will speeds drop as the bandwidth is split between users? I see this being like cell carriers when they got into providing internet data. Eventually the servers (cell towers/satellites) will fill to capacity and data will be split. Cell data was 100% unlimited in the beginning as well, then data caps appeared, then what they called unlimited (but prioritized after certain limits reach, etc..). How many satellites can be deployed before other issues arise, like THE SUN??? I see no one asking these type of questions. Thx for the video.

It is not 5G. It does not use cell phone technology. It uses Ku band which is basically radar data link. Radar and radio are at their core the same thing. Radar is just much more directional radio ard you listen for the return that bounces back to you but it can also be used to transmit data two ways.

Normal satellite internet is already fast ....the biggest problem it has is small data caps ....I want starlink for only 1 reason(unlimited data) ..but I wont sign up until they promise they wont introduce data caps ..imagine paying all that startup money and then 1 year in they cap the heck out of it like all the other satellite company's ..I'm not gonna be scammed ..I'm on 25gb a month ..youtube at 144p and I still run out of data 12 days into a month ..I want atleast 300gb+ guaranteed ..then I'll sign up

Ya, we’re really hoping they don’t pull something like that.

Geostationary satellites might be fast but the latency is around 250 - 750ms vs.
@danielmonge23184 жыл бұрын
Not going to happen. It's going to remain unlimited for sure. And it's going to be even faster and more reliable with time.

Lmao normal satellite internet fast? Just like my shitty Viasat service, you're capping.

From what I read it doesn't operate on 5g frequencies

You didn't even say whether you need internet or not to download the app and all this stuff which probably you really needed so if you have no service where you're standing right now before the starlink service how did you log in get set up?

@dave cadogan he says he gets no cell phone service or any type of good internet service 🤤🤤🤤 and thank you laid back living for telling me you went INTO TOWN with your cell phone to use service to start your service
@motofan164 жыл бұрын
I believe if you have a clear sky, you can just plug and play. No existing internet is needed. It looks like you don't need to download the app first. I'll be an open WiFi at first, you can use that to get the app, and do the rest. But if you don't, you can still use it.

How is the Internet when there are clouds? In the sense of by how much do speeds collapse and latency go up?
@LaidBackLiving4 жыл бұрын
It depends. Still very usable 12-25mbps

@@LaidBackLiving thanks. That is a bit disappointing, but I guess still better than no internet at all.

Do you know if it’s good for ps4 gaming

Yes. But the occasional drop outs could be annoying. But that’s only for now, in a year or so won’t happen anymore.

Is it good with gaming? Console
@Eye023 жыл бұрын
once this is developed more, the latency will get lower in a lot of areas so yes it is better than dsl or any slower connections for gaming. Its in beta phase so like he says in the video it may drop the connection for about 10 seconds and then come back on which is not good for gaming but otherwise this is a soluble solution for rural areas and gaming. I live in a somewhat rural area and our cable company stopped supporting our area so the best we can get now is dsl, so I will be ordering starlink as soon as I can. If you have a fiber or cable company that's in your area and reliable those will be better for now

Thanks for the video. No reason to have it up that high. plus the instability of the pole in windy conditions will not help the dish any at all. Put it on top of a stable building instead. Just some ideas to help you make it more robust.
@jade_ugc_creator3 жыл бұрын
With all the trees i heard the only option we have is to put it on a huge pole? Help me out! We definitely can’t put it on our roof, I feel we still won’t get good connections that way! What do you recommend?
@equinoxonline4 жыл бұрын
Awesome! This is what this was meant for. But your facts on speed and usage are off. This is not broadband. And definitely not "5G" but the fact you have internet at all is incredible. Pair that to a cell transmitter and you will be set!
@raywesolowski42584 жыл бұрын
No need for the pole. You can have it on the ground just make sure you have a clear line of sight in the direction it needs to point.
