The issue for a lot of the ppl on trail braking in a virtual world is that they cant tell right away how much brake they are holding and how much they are releasing as they go into the corner. Unlike in real life, other than the sense of speed, when you're braking hard and begin to realease, you could feel the brake pressures in relation to the rotating. Only ppl that have driven fast and taken a corner know what this feels like and know its partly difficult to translate in game.

I race irl and this is totally what makes me slower then other. You don't feel the brake pressure or the release of the force so I carry too much braking into the turn which makes me 5 or 10 km/h slower in the slow turns. That makes that the car is not rotating and spins easier as you need to accelerate more.

@steveclaeysgoesracing yea man I run CSL load cell, I bought it in November, and just now this month, the Elastomers finally broke in, so it's now easier to feel the pedal compress and release as I release. Personally, I think the better combo would be a peddle hall effect with a fat damper shock or two left and right of the pedal. That way, there's resistance on the press down and easier to hold that pressure, and when release, you feel it like swell under your foot. It's just getting that connection of wheel information, your eyes, and that peddle.

I recently bought your course and started practiging the "induce underster” excercise, throttling almost from corner entry. To my surprise I started collecting purple sectors. I justified it as I just started driving the F3 car and I still dont know it, but maybe the problem is with my whole trail braking technique. Interesting excercise

The hardest step for me was getting that synchronization between the brake pedal and the outside front tire. Finally feeling the brake turn the car just as precisely as I feel the steering turn the car changed everything for me ✌️

Thanks for the advice. I've been trying to learn in the mx-5 and have been getting my ass handed to me! Gonna try this advice.

"It is amazing how many drivers, even at the Formula One Level, think that the brakes are for slowing the car down." ~Mario Andretti

This video is saying the complete opposite. It's saying to trail brake less, which means relying less on the brakes to turn.

@@404nobrakesSuellio is saying people tend to use too much brake pressure when trying to trail brake. Andretti is saying the same thing in effect.

Let's see if I understand correctly, I start to brake, and then when I start to release the brake and start to turn the steering wheel, do I leave that 1% for the car to enter the curve?

Do I have to have a wheel? I can't afford a wheel, but I don't know if I can get better with just an Xbox controller.

Trail braking with controller is hard, but definitely possible. Without the responsiveness of a wheel, it's so much trial and error. But even with a wheel it's still not easy. But if you have the cash I definitely recommend buying a wheel, it's a lot of fun to drive with compared to a controller.
