Thanks John. Just when I thought I knew it all. I'm excited about the journey again!

Boy have I lived this reality. So true!

I have been snubbed or rebuked by so many Christians for asking too many challenging questions about the faith. I was even ghosted by a priest for this even though he initially welcomed my questions. It’s one of the things that made me give up on Christianity in the past and makes me want to give up on it now. Nothing makes me lack faith in authority like being told not to ask questions or to just blindly obey because “God’s ways are above man’s ways,” (especially when what they’re preaching suggests the exact opposite).

I am sorry that this was your experience. There are pastors and priests out there that would not feel threatened by such questioning.

I know so many in the “church” , that are content in their lack of knowledge. How do you inspire people like this?

In my experience, all one can ever do is "hold the door open" for them to walk through when they are finally ready. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink it!

John did not St Paul desire for us to "upgrade" from " milk to meat?" Compliments for taking the time in answering the comments.👍May your style of spreading the Good News of who they truly are, touch many hearts!❤️

The author of Hebrews (most likely not Paul) certainly said to "upgrade" and to "not keep laying again the foundational teachings." The difficulty that we have is that the author did not share a list of the secondary or tertiary teachings! This is why I try to teach things beyond the foundational level... Some people do not know they are repeating the foundational teachings over and over, and yet are curious why people eventually leave the faith/Church, they were never even offered "meat"! Thank you for your kind words, have a lovely day!

Great video. Thanks John. Ties in with your “long night of the soul” vid! True, deep questioning can take you to some lonely places in my experience but that’s where you meet The Big Three right 😉

Agreed. Maturity can be a lonely thing, paradoxically.

Faith is the active practice of self deception.

I would have to disagree. Healthy faith shoves you further or back into reality. Unhealthy faith shelters and compartmentalizes one from reality. Have a great day.

@@JohnChaffeeTalks Is there such a thing as healthy self deception? How would it push someone back into reality, better than reality? What mechanism does faith have that can differentiate a true belief from a false belief? Clearly you see that faith can be used incorrectly, so to speak.
