Look personally I like everyone here. I’ve known of Gavin for over 10 years, love the shows at compound, and never miss an episode of Your Welcome. That being said while sure it seemed shitty to just fire everyone. Garrett made it clear that Compound was struggling with subscribers and thought Cumia was done 2/3 years ago. Say what you want about Cumia but he definitely has a big heart and I’m sure part of the deal was Gavin had to be the bad guy. Gavin just wanted to keep doing a show with him and this was the only way they saw it being profitable. Yea Gavin is a troll/mischief, but he’s really more of a business guy than Anthony is. I’m sorry compound is gone but it really doesn’t seem to be personal. That’s show business.

Gavin has said many times that he enjoys firing people though, Ant probably approached him him-hawing about having to get rid of the booth guys and I guarantee Gavin volunteered. I’ve been a compound subscriber for six years and I just can’t believe Anthony let this happen the way he did! All the former employees are acting like he did them a favor by keeping them afloat out of his own pocket but he could have put the work in to hire (and fire) the right people to revive compound when he knew the ship was sinking! Instead, he was getting loaded everyday gearing himself up for his heart attack, then just lets Gavin ruin his employees lives in a matter of minutes! Btw I love Anthony’s show and I’m still a big fan of it but come on man! 😂
@drownthepoor2 ай бұрын
Gearing up for his heart attack ahahahha. Yeah man, it's sad to see Compound go this way. Compound was an early pioneer, and there was a time when I saw them as one of the "big" or real alternative studios. Legion Of Skanks spawned in Anthony's basement, and Luis started Gas Digital after they left Compound. Gas seems to be hanging in there pretty well. I have heard since 4 years ago that Compound was on the way out. I've always loved Gavin, but known he's an irredeemable human being. Anthony has some skeletons of his own. Garret always stood out to me at Compound as the brains behind the machine.

I loved Compound Media, but I always thought the subscription-only business model was a bad decision that made it difficult to gain new fans. Most younger people (aged 30 or below) have likely never even heard of Opie & Anthony, and you can't rely on old O&A fans forever, so where would new subscribers even come from? I'm personally not a fan of The Daily Wire or Blaze, but their business model seems to work well: Have full shows on KZbin for free to gain new viewers, then have bonus content for the subscribers. All of their channels exploded in popularity over the past decade, and none of them have the talent or wit of Anthony Cumia. The Cumia Show should have exploded in popularity as well, but I think the lack of a real presence on sites like KZbin ultimately hurt the show in the end.
