The government takes away a father's responsibility through family court. I'm a single dad with 50/50 physical/legal custody and I am fortunate I had the resources to fight for that hill to die on. Most fathers don't, and every father I have worked with through my volunteer capacity with the National Parent's Organization (NPO) desperately wants to be in their child's life in a meaningful way. The problem is solved by equal custody, yet no church talks about or advocates for this.

My ex wife had an affair and would not end it, so I filed for divorce, which is a Biblical reason to do so. I'm right there with you brother in regard to a mom and a dad staying together, if possible, but it's not a good thing to allow that behavior to continue. I thank God daily that their mom and I co-parent very well.

I always call my wife "my love" because that's exactly what she is.. she has all of my love. She's my best friend, and my gift from God. ❤ She's the best thing that happened to me and I thank God for her every day! We don't always agree, and sometimes we get into arguments. We also deal with a lot of stress, but at the end of the day, she's my everything and I try to let her know that as much as I can. She's faithful, loving and respectful to me, and we never call each other a bad name. Don't be toxic to each other, ever. Once you start doing that. It's a curse on the relationship.

It’s not just about submitting to your husband, doing what he says. There is trust that he will make wise decisions, trust that he will keep you safe-physically, financially, spiritually. There is respect and appreciation, which is reciprocal. Men and women have different roles because we think differently, we have different things we are good at but they complement each other. It’s kind of like riding on the back of a motorcycle your husband is driving. You put your life in his hands, you trust he will take care of you and keep you safe and do what is best for both of you. And you both pray to Jesus for guidance and protection from whatever may come at you both. And as a wife you take care of your husband so he can take care you. And if he is making a decision that you don’t agree with you don’t just do it, you talk about it together. Either you understand his thinking or you give him some other ideas. To submit doesn’t have to be a bad thing, it can be the best relationship you ever imagined when you both love to see each other happy. There is no competition, you complement each other. I have been married for a long time and I fall deeper in love with my husband all the time.

Satan could not have destroyed your marriage nor mislead your wife if you had been leading to begin with. If she doubts your leadership it's likely because you have shown yourself in the past to be unreliable. And here you are publicly blaming the woman just like Adam and telling the world it isn't your fault the marriage God put you in charge of is failing. Been there and over last 10 years learned it Jezebel and why 70 to 80% of divorces are initiated by women, because they harden their hearts to Yahweh and refuse to humbly submit to him. The corrupt court systems actually enable this by incentivising child support and government assistance. If Mark would have read Isaiah 4 & 47 he wouldn't have a stage, because it clearly looks exactly like America today and what it will look like on the next few year? Read those verses and Revelation 2: 20 that leads to Revelation 6-18 (where we are currently) I openly teach this sound doctrine when most turn to the doctrines of demons to stay popular. Not me. The real problem is Preachers not preaching the gospel. Issues we see today in our culture are issues of the heart, and the only thing that can change a sinful heart is the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. One thing that seems to recur in almost every sermon I hear on the issues of families is the absence of addressing young and middle aged widows. Yes unmarried women with children have it hard, but what about the widows ? It’s like the church is blind to these people - it’s not a choice for a widow with children and it’s so disheartening and discouraging to hear continuously about the importance of a father in a child’s life, when they have lost their father.

This popped up and spoke to me so much. I forwarded it to my fiance. Sadly he got really defensive? Said why is there always video’s on men, what about women, they have to submit. I am so trying to see Godly leadership in him, overlook flaws etc, but Spiritual leadership is what I need in a man. I was married 17 years to a “Christian” alcoholic, the drinking and issues with that were bad but the lack of spiritual head of the home is what hurt the most. I would try show him his ways, scripture on being drunk or lukewarm and was rebuffed and told scripture is not black and white. I feel torn. I love this man. When he is in a good mood he calls me God’s daughter, reads the bible and prays with me. When he gets upset he turns on me, I can’t express needs, and I don’t even see Christian character/fruits, let alone any of the biblical qualities of a husband. I am scared to marry him. Having to leave one marriage due to alcohol abuse was bad, and I don’t want to end up in a worse situation. He can be very harsh, refuse to hear my heart and flip it back on me. I am often scared to talk. I love him. But I also want to be happy, to feel safe and secure 😢 he makes me feel like I can’t do anything right or it’s all my fault. He has massive pride. Please pray for wisdom. I don’t need perfection, but the constant mood flips are hard to deal with.

It’s not a man’s job to make a woman submit to him! It’s his job to lead his family and love his wife as Christ loved the church. I hope you run away from this man as quickly as you can. He sounds like he’s a selfish little boy, who needs to grow the hell up. Pastor Mark, please do a sermon on wives who refuse to respect their husbands. My wife is a wonderful woman- I love her deeply- but she has a hard, independent streak (I think from her father dying when she was a baby, growing up with a single mother). She agrees “intellectually” with Biblical gender roles, but in practice her heart is far far far from wanting to practice any respect. I am committed to lead and am not passive. It is a delicate balance to avoid huge arguments, and all I can do is constantly forgive her for sinning against me. And pastor, I am wearing thin. I’m doing everything I can - I am a good, hard working man who puts God first. I have no desire to dominate anyone (indeed it seems she has the desire to dominate ME). I will absolutely not abdicate. But I don’t know how to handle this - I have no hope of changing her by my efforts- that won’t work. But nothing is working. Please help

I get tired of women saying "strong independent woman" or especially "strong independent black woman" (I'm a blk married woman by the way) These are single and married women saying this. It's ok to be strong but they act like being married is a sin. Also, these same women I know that are still waiting on a husband ain't ready to submit....They still go out to clubs LOLOL...what they want is a strong independent marriage LOLOLOL I love being married to my husband...He is definitely my blessing from the Lord.

As always, I appreciate much of what you said here. There is one thing I would like to point out in love. I know it is not popular but what you taught about dominion 31:00 is not biblical (Eph 5: 21-33, 1Co 11:3-12). When we become part of the Church, we become one with Christ. We become one by accepting HIS domination and authority over us. To say that a man is the head of the house but has equal dominion. Is like telling Christ HE is the head of the Church but has no authority / dominion over her. When a man submits to GOD and loves his wife as Christ loves the Church. He has dominion over his household, but he will never abuse that dominion in any way. If he does, he is not loving her as Christ loves the Church. He has final say but also takes full responsibility. That is what a leader / head does. This is the arrangement set by GOD. When it is accepted before and throughout the marriage. All potential power struggles in the house are eliminated.

Hey Mark, Appreciate the lesson. Though I do have some questions about your interpretation of scripture. I believe I heard you say that, the husband and wife are equal leaders. But, the ultimate responsibility falls on the man. Providing I understood correctly, my response would be, "you can't have both". Whether you intended that to be the interpretation or not, it needs to be said that there is a dangerous implication in much teaching about marriage that men are too incompetent to lead in marriage without their wife's help. Men lead armies, large companies, counsel, build from vision and are the first to die for what they believe in. But, from the church we frequently hear that men can't lead in marriage. Ask a man at church to meet for coffe and he has to check with his wife for permission. The church (in some ways) has softened the man by continuously telling us that we're too incompetent to lead (subliminally). What's displayed in biblical marriage is nothing like what we teach in today's culture. Men do know how to be loving leaders and lead their families into godly success. Wives must trust God and pray for their husbands. Actually, they shouldn't marry a man that they can't follow. So much more to say. But, please consider the things.

Genesis 3:16. Theres a reason why God says “and he will rule over you”. We can’t leave off that part of scripture. Bc of the fall bc of sin there will be a constant fighting for headship. There is a godly way to rule over your wife and there’s an ungodly way. When talking about marriage no pastor should leave out headship, and submission. The women submits to man as he submits/loves Christ. Ephesians 5:22-30. When this pastor mentions coequal dominion thats a two headed monster. Very scary, and not biblical. Ephesians 5:21 is actually a continuation of 5:1-20. Hence the “further more” (NLT.) Believers are to submit to one another.

I'm one of the women who enjoy pastor Mark's sermons. I have been married for 33 years and we go to church but my husband wont read his bible and so he doesn't know scripture. When i try to teach him about something biblical he gets defensive and doesn't want to hear it. He thinks I'm being critical but I'm trying to help him learn. I would like to have a biblical marriage but how can i let him lead when hes not being a biblical husband. Im thankful he supports our family and gives his time to the church or to help someone but this marriage has been a real struggle.
