I bought a new Nissan Frontier yesterday. I followed your advise about asking for the ODP before I went to the dealership. Got price back and did some more negotiation on the phone and ended up getting $5500 off of the MSRP.

This is why prices are not coming down. A lot of ignorant people are not doing their research before buying a car.

SOME salesman love taking advantage of people. Speaking honestly, I did this one time when selling cars. I had just started cars sales. The dealership owner thanked me for paying the power bill for the month after it closed. He told me if you can’t screw your family you can’t screw anybody. It was his step sister that bought the car I later found out. I stopped working at that dealership after that. I felt so bad and still remember it like yesterday. That was the mid 90’s.

Yeah I’m so tired of cars priced in terms of payment. I had a couple of dipshits salesman lose sales because they wouldn’t give me a sales price. People need to learn to prepare and walk in the dealer doesn’t respond accordingly

Well it happened to me as well; at 69 years young. My monthly payment on my new Toyota Camry after my trade in; since negative equity is at $1,258.00 per month. After watching Car Edge I started learning a lot. Called Toyota Corporate complained about add on’s and extra many additional warranty coverages plus extended warranty coverages and had this all removed. I’m also refinancing my car from 14.6% interest to 3.5% interest and 60 months instead of 72 and lowered monthly payment $400 per month.

I didn't specify a loan term when looking at cars recently because I wanted to hear what they could offer, and I had a dealership offer me a 72 month car loan by default. 72 Months??? Of 600-800 per month payments... on a, wait for it... car? It's nuts. Honestly, the best advice is to buy used, when the market is right.

The out-the-door (or OTD) price is what I ask the dealer for on any vehicle, not playing games, these buyers seem to be like, oh, I want a new ride and haven't done any research, so, the salespeople are about too take them for a ride

@@jerrylundegaard2592 All of that together is the OTD price... More and more people want to know this exact total of the car they are interested before they set foot in the dealership. People are sick of dealing with slimeballs and having their time wasted.

@jerrylundegaard2592 Ай бұрын
@@mikeb3216 An out the door amount (it is not a price) is not always possible due to individual circumstances. Regardless, the out the door amount is not where the buyer should concentrate. The buyer should focus on the price of the vehicle, less any trade value. Allowing the dealer to focus on a total amount allows the dealer an opportunity to hide things within that amount. Negotiate the price which includes the dealer's price plus any dealer add-ons and dealer fake fees. Don't pay dealer prices for add-ons and do not pay the fake fees (AKA Doc Fee). Negotiate the trade value which should reflect the values from NADA, Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds. The state mandated fees which with price less trade comprise the out the door amount are not negotiable.

If you're in the market for a new car, Don't set foot in the dealership unless you know the exact cost of the car/tax/fees beforehand. If they say they can't or won't, go somewhere else. I had one dealership tells me just that, So I went down the road 15 miles and bought the car from a dealership who gave me the OTD price. The only thing left at that point is to negotiate the trade--in and say no 50 times to dealer add-ons

California recently passed a initiative to make "Financial Literacy" a required course in high school. Some of your videos should be in the curriculum. How NOT to negotiate a car purchase and how to negotiate a purchase. Also: Ford dealers work from a script. They refuse to take phone-call customers seriously. They also refuse to talk numbers until you come in, do a test drive first. One sales person told me she would 'get in trouble' if we did not at least drive the vehicle around the block.

As soon as I heard about it, I wanted to do it. It's just a question of saving enough money. It seems like a creative way to take a once in a lifetime vacation AND get your new car AND invest into the "unique and exclusive deals" only available to Volvo experience customers. I would love to see if you would do a video on this and maybe if you could find someone who has tried the program and willing to share their experience?

I did all my negotiating online via email and text with multiple dealers. Crazy! Ive never done that before. I got a discount off MSRP too. Gotta take your time, shop around, and get that OTD price with a detailed list of the charges! You can crunch the monthly payment on your own with any online calculator. You just gotta know what you can afford ahead of time before shopping. CarEdge videos were very helpful in me learning how to make a good deal.

Hi guys. I was looking to buy a car and one of the dealers wrote a number on a piece of paper. It was my monthly payment based on??? So I said I’m sorry what is the sale price of this car? I was then given the price of the car and a minor discount. Additionally I had a trade in that multiple dealers tried to offer me $5,000 for. I said I will set my car on fire before I sell it to you for that. The fact that they kept trying to steal my car set the tone and trust level I had at their dealership. I sold my car to Carvanna for $10,200 and ended up buying my sister’s used car off her instead. I was fully prepared to spend my money on a new car until I was jerked around by multiple dealers. Now my money remains in the bank. I have no car payment, and I sold my car for a very fair price. Dealers want to continue to play the game but they can’t if they don’t have any players. Thanks for your videos

I guess in their mind they were winners because they made the salesman move quickly. Just wait til the F&I guy gets a hold of them at closing. They will get sold every add on extended warranty, gap insurance, etching, trucoat, tire insurance and everything else. They are a walking goldmine.

If you don't have the cash you can't afford the car. At that age if you don't have the cash you should be riding the bus.

The big point is these 2 Elderly individuals wasting money on a new car , wasting your retirement. If you are trading in a vehicle and want 40K clearly your vehicle you have now is basically new.. Individuals wasting their savings and not needing a new vehicle!

I agree I am 71like they say there is more to the story I have been looking and trying to deal on a late model used truck for 2 months, I wasn't even considering buying new until I found out I could get in a 2024 over a 2022 for only 6800$ more. I know I will take a big hit on depreciation but I get all the warranty and the truck I wanted. I got this truck 10,000$ less than msrp took a while to get them to come what I wanted for my trade but it finally came together.

Dealerships are the enemy! Don’t buy new, only buy from private party.

Or just don’t buy new cars and get a 10+ year old Toyota Camary or Corolla for around $10k to $15k. Fk a car payment.

People love negotiating the price of the vehicle then once I agree to that and they see the payment they freak out! You can negotiate a 100k truck to 90k doesn’t mean you can afford the PAYMENT

I wondered what the 12-15% of new car buyers paying over $1,000 per month looked like (for an avg of 69 mos in length). I can't laugh at this. It makes me sad. Both for the buyers and for the "salesman" who's sold his soul to the devil.
