Having to guess who was murdered in the detective game is so funny. Like your character just kind of assumed there'd been a murder, started searching the nearest motel, and got insanely lucky.
@cassandracastro27592 күн бұрын
To be fair, irl you always have to guess the identity of the victim of a murder since, you know, they can't tell you. I guess the developers just went on it the wrong way.

Believe it or not, sometimes dead bodies are found with no identification.
@BainesMkIIКүн бұрын
If you read or watch enough mystery and crime stories, you'll find there are plenty of ways to do a "you need to identify who was murdered" situation. You have a body without ID. You have a body that is too damaged to identify. You have evidence of a death, but no body. The initial identity is found to be fake. The body was identified incorrectly, either by due to mistake or deliberate misdirection. The assumed victim never died, but someone else ends up dying after. You have multiple bodies, but only one is an actual murder victim. Etc.

The current state of Dauntless makes me genuinely sad... it used to be a pretty decent alternative to Monster Hunter but now its just another soulless live service thats a pale imitation of its inspiration
@Joe90h2 күн бұрын
I played it solidly from whenit launched on PS4 through to the end of 2021. The slow down of content, the carpet bombing of 'hunt passes' on top of 'hunt passes' to force engagement, and deliberately removing the 'meta' playstyle to try and force new metas to form when the top end of gameplay was actually pretty varied... On top of all the undelivered promises just broke me. I installed it recently to see what the fuss was about the newest update, and quickly uninstalled when I saw they had added maybe 3 Behemoths in the 3 years I hadn't played.
@TheAdarkerglow2 күн бұрын
It had the FOUNDATION of a good Monster Hunter Alternative, but like Wild Hearts, they wanted to start up as Monster Hunter World, ignoring that Capcom has put what is now 2 decades of work in. They didn't have enough variety in either game, and they both made terrible decisions that ensured they'd never get the following to afford them the time to grow their variety and appeal.

Cubeworld is such a weird case of having literally everything going for it and somehow fumbling at every turn. I understand the developers weren't prepared for what Cubeworld turned into, as well as the stress that comes with it, but their play of randomly teasing that they may or may not work on it or are working on it was such a bad move. They could only hide behind the "passione project that they only work on when they feel like it" excuse for so long as well when you start taking people's money. Especially when their teases just got people more and more invested into seeing what the game would turn into. You don't need to take money from people to disappoint them as well. Seemingly the people who started development on the game and that returned to work on it again years later weren't the same people. They no longer had passion for it and just haphazardly threw together something that could be considered a game loop and then left. To the point that the Alpha version of Cubeworld is unironically better than what released. Since there was a vision for the game in the alpha that just wasn't realized. Weirdly, the final release of Cubeworld plays like a Trove knockoff. When I'm 90% sure Trove was piggy backing off the hype for Cubeworld. If you want a game that's more obviously inspired by Cubeworld even though I personally don't like it and it updates fairly slowly. Check out Veloren. Open source game.

If anyone's looking for a game in the same vein as that motel mystery, but, you know, good, then I recommend The Case of the Golden Idol. You go through a series of pixel-art tableaus one by one to piece together the progression of a supernatural mystery in a setting reminiscent of 18th-century England. Because "you" are not playing a character, there's no confusion about why you wouldn't know the identity of the victim, and you can just immerse yourself in the story. Very much recommended!

I remember getting CubeWolrd Alpha on release day. It was so amazing. You could design you weapon pixel by pixel and I believe it was meant to be an MMORPG If I remember correctly. That is another reason the new version feels so bare. It's just co-op. I actually researched this while typing to confirm. Alpha had hosted servers. It was meant to be a big deal.
@izzylee6419 сағат бұрын
I had no clue it was meant to be an MMORPG! That makes me wonder if maybe the devs didn't realize how much goes into making and maintaining an MMO when they started making it and so decided to change a lot of the aspects of it so that it would "make more sense" to the new smaller scale they had in mind. That's like the only thing I can think to rationalize the absolute insane design changes they made from alpha to release.
@jenamatic17 сағат бұрын
I don't think having to guess who was murdered is that bizarre for the detective game. If it's known who is staying at the hotel but people are unaccounted for, the murdered person would be a Jane/John Doe. You could also be a private detective, so you're not privy to all of the police reports and didn't have a briefing. I don't think that premise is bad, but it could be made more cohesive with the story. Also, the characters in Legend of Candelwind literally are all the same person lmao

@@Waffletigercat So? That still doesn't change the fact that every level you're mainly looking at foot soldiers foot soldiers foot soldiers and more foot soldiers. Especially where so many levels are city based, it leaves every level feeling nigh identical to me. You're allowed to like it, I'm allowed to be bored by it.

If you want a game which does really well what Detective The Motel tries, I'd recommend The Case of The Golden Idol.

I don't get Idle games, I mean power to whoever likes these types of games but me I just see them as a game that play itself and the player actions are either click one button, upgrade stuff to do stuff more fast and select a screen for stuff to happen automatically, I just don't get the fun in that, a friend of mine said that Idle games feels like pachinko or casino games and I don't know if that is right but I don't get those either.

The Power Ranger grunts!! I didn't think there would be anyone under 40 today that doesn't know they're Putties! Even if you were never a fan of the show, it's impossible to avoid in some form.

For a list of worst games, there are actually some gems here. I really dig the power rangers game. I think the simple control mechanic is intentional, cause games back in the day (before Street Fighter 2) were simple and had very limited controls (we only had two buttons, 2!! buttons).

I love this series, but I find the music really grating over time. I get that KZbin creators have to use the royalty free stuff, and it's not the best, but it's really repetitive when it plays for several minutes. I've started to notice it the more I watch the series

I'm VERY surprised to see MMPR Rita's Rewind and CubeWorld here. I had high expectations for the first one, since I AM a Power Rangers fan and we didn't get many good games. The idea of a new but retro beat em up was fantastic. The CW game I know from back like 2014 or something, from a shady copy I got from one of my coworkers, which I tried thinking it was a Minecraft ripoff.

I really like Rita's Rewind, I do think it unfortunately didn't get enough time in the oven to really push it up to the same level of quality as Shredder's Revenge sadly. But I'm glad the devs tried to listen to feedback and tweak the game after release, that good faith is definitely strained by the publisher's ridiculous asking price. I think that game is def a case of "this could be amazing!" but the company in charge of the project doesn't care despite the best efforts of the devs trying to offer something to scratch that same retro itch while appealing to fans. I would give it a positive review, maybe a 7/10 or 8/10. I definitely don't think it's bad or mediocre, there's enough there to show that in a different time it would be great.

What happened to Dauntless is a shame.

The script has so much superfluous words in it, saying that "B is the doge button and let's you move out the way of incoming attacks" is just adding words for no reason.. Again at the start with "the games sees us taking of one of five different playable rangers, the red ranger, blue ranger, yellow ranger, pink ranger and the black ranger" I'm sorry but wtf is that, just say "you play as the 5 rangers, red, blue, yellow, pink and black ranger" Sorry just it's niggled me early in the video and can't unheard the pointless word additions

Okay this time I won't comment something two seconds before you say it. I used to get into both Cube World and Dauntless, and it's a shame they both changed so drastically. Cube World Omega might be worth the wait but I worry Dauntless has been ruined for good with the change in direction/owner/whatever.

As a Monster Hunter fan I was interested when I heard about Dauntless since I hadn't played anything else like Monster Hunter at the time but seeing the Fortnite look was a big turn off. It just didn't have any special appeal to me and the floating island setting just highlighted how ordinary looking everything else in the game was.

It feels like there is a split in even the split opinions of Rita's Rewind. This video didn't like the combat, but like the shooter and mech fights. Elsewhere, you find people who defend the combat while saying the shooter and mech fights are what bring down the game.
