Funny, I always tell everyone you need to drive the Oregon coast headed south to hit all the turn-outs with right hand turns and 78 state parks. I've been in Oregon for the past 24 years and love the endless beauty. It's a Douglas Fir tree on the Oregon license plate.
@toddhadley90025 сағат бұрын
Yay! I've been waiting for this video. I've lived in Oregon for most of my life, so I'm glad you got to experience it. Driving the coast was absolutely the right decision. Oregon has some stunningly beautiful forests, but after you've seen the California Redwoods it doesn't quite hit you in the same way. But the Oregon coast is breathtaking. It's actually a bit ironic that you're loving the Oregon scenery so much. I remember watching fantasy movies as a kid with the family, and every time they showed a beautiful forest scene, we would always say, "looks like Oregon!" Then we would check the ending credits, and it would usually say, "filmed in New Zealand." (and this was decades before Lord of the Rings) Eventually we started saying, "looks like Oregon! Must be New Zealand." And we were right more often than not.

I don't know how many times in this series I've heard "This, that or the other scene is absolutely amazing!" when I bet that you have scenery in New Zealand that's equally as beautiful, if not moreso, but you're just more used to it on your home turf. That's why, I think, we love seeing your reactions so much. Because it wakes up something that we've taken for granted, living here.

@LindaC6164 сағат бұрын
I'm glad you left this because I was going to leave them a note if no one else said it that they stay together in a herd for protection since they don't have much else to defend themselves with. One will always watch out while the others graze. I'm on an island on the east coast and I have seen deer crossing from the marsh over toward the beach. Don't know why, but I also saw cows on the beach in Ireland and never expected that. Maybe they eat the seaweed for the salt

Welcome to Oregon. The coast drive is so beautiful. It interesting to see a place you’ve been to or through a hundred times through someone’s eyes who’s never seen it before. We get so used to what’s around us we tend to stop and look at it as a tourist or visitor. I’ve done this many times, stop and really experience the natural beauty that is all around where I live. If you just sit quietly in your yard for a few hours it will blow your mind how much wild life lives right there with you. We just usually make so much noise they hide so we can’t see them. I follow a chimpanzee sanctuary in WA, and they had a lone female who attached herself to their land. She used to accompany them on walks when they walked the perimeter of the two and a half acre enclosure with the dominant female several times a day, (because she likes company on her patrols). The elk would just follow along with them. So they called her Ellie. Eventually, they had to relocate her. The directors live on the premises, and sometimes her face would just appear in the window! 😅Then she started trying to open doors, and they knew it was time. 😅DEM tried to relocate her with a herd but it didn't take. So she went to a local zoo and is in a small group and happy

I get to travel watching my favorite NZ family enjoying the vistas. My grandmother was born in Oregon.

The coffee shops get better the more north you go too! :) You'll find a lot of ma and pa coffee kiosks and cafe's in the smaller towns.
