I’ve been going through the Bailey stories in order, and so far this is next to The Valentine Manner as my favorite story. It had such a different angle and it worked great.

Want a shorter version of it? Try Episode 144, "The Thelma Ibsen Matter." This is one of several half-hour John Lund episodes by E. Jack Neuman which the author expanded under his pseudonym John Dawson into 5-part, hour and a quarter Bob Bailey episodes. Same plot, only the names are changed and scenes were expanded to fit the longer time available. And in this case, the amount of the benefit was adjusted for the contemporary economy.
