Great explanation. I have The Golfing Machine book on order. One question - since the club shaft is supposed to stay in line with the left arm to maintain the wedge, does this mean that this system does not promote forward shaft lean? Thanks.

Steve, is the best way to keep those wedges intact (i.e. at 90* to each other) by letting the pivot be the energy-producer of the swing, to avoid manipulating the arms out of position?

My head hurts now lol I'm guessing this method keeps the arms and body in sync ? It feels very compact and repeatable when I practice with and without a club. Hopefully I'll try this on the range before Saturday cheers Steve 👍

slowpickr slowpickr 38 minutes ago Hello. I've adopted S&T and have been researching the flying wedge. I see your illustration using light weight items (i.e. racket, brochures). The problem I'm having is physics. There's a lot of momentum and forces at play trying to maintain a right hand wedge on a full power downswing due to the weight of the shaft and club head. So how does one maintain the flying wedge on full swings? I don't think it's muscular power in the wrist and forearm resisting angular momentum. Perhaps I'm not executing properly (end up flipping to square club face at impact). Any help would be appreciated.

Reading some of the comments here, no offense to those that said this was complicated, but it doesn't get much more simple than explained in this video. Very well done. Maybe knowing the physics/geometry behind the golf swing will help people. Just maybe the whole "trust me do what I am showing you" does not work for everyone. TGM has complex yet precise language. The best thing about TGM is that it is recipe book, you can pick your ingredients, the book lets you know which ones mix and which ones dont. There is no THE WAY to hit a golf ball.

What can you explain, if you would, how to maintain the wedge with the left wrist ( cupped at setup_and turned to bowed at impact), obviuosly to me the side angle has been changed. Or the left wrist is missed and only the left shoulder and club face will be matter?

Problem is you cant hit real shots and monitor positions and angles at the same time. If monitoring is going on in your mind your swing will fall apart. Trying to hit planes angles and positions is a slippery slope right down into golfing hell.

You set your flying wedges at setup then there is nothing to think about anymore. Set it and forget it. Now concentrate on the pivot which transports the flying wedges

Flying wedge is the secret of golf but he did not explain how to maintain it...
@TitleistGuy
@TitleistGuy 6 жыл бұрын
Choco You maintain it by maintaining it. Rather than worrying about tilts and feels and rotations. Put your mind in your hands and let your body respond to their demand. The way I learned the flying wedges was to hit left hand only shots and right hand only shots. Only focusing on maintaining the wedges thru impact. Your body angles and pivots and weight shifts all follow. It's a beautiful thing when you realize your hands are the captain of this ship.

Stop for a moment and think. You are new to golf and you see this video. Do you think I could take anything to improve my swing apart for a lot confusion and concepts bad explained? TGM people need to work on the way to explain things. Too much confusion. I've given you a thumb down. This is extended To all TGM instructors they don't know how to approach to a Joe recreational golfer.

Jesus Lopez Those who know how precise golf can be know how precise it needs to be. Specific language doesn't make it complicated. Don't fault instructors because you're not willing to work and learn the meaning of words.

Jesus... Listen, I get what you're saying, I do. I took lessons from the 1st authorized instructor of tgm for 6 years. The guy was brilliant but he mumbled incessantly. When I started working with him, on the advice from tour playing friends, I may as well been a beginner although I had been playing near scratch and was a pga professional. While his communication skills were lacking, i recognized immediately that this was it, the ultimate catalogue designed not to exclude a thing. I would urge you not to throw the baby out with the bath water here. All I had was the book and my instructor. I didn't have the benefit of KZbin to help me understand what the heck a flying wedge is. IN FACT, here 30 years later after years of studying different sections of this book to the point where the binding is falling apart, I learned something I didn't previously understand. Does this prove your point? Absolutely but if you take the time and learn this, with the help of cross referencing the book with KZbin, it will help immensely. Fairways and greens man.

@@beatzzz01 Homer came up with that after everybody and their mother complained about how difficult it was to read his book, let alone understand it. There are guys on tour that have the IQ of a park bench (one of them ranked at number 1 in the world as I type this, another named his home town when asked where the home of golf is) yet somehow, . someway, someone explained the mechanics to them in a simple enough manner that they understood it. It wasn't Homer Kelly ...lol
