Love your videos! I'm half Norwegian. My great grandmother Inga Pederson emigrated from Norway around 1910 at 14 years old. She used to ski to get her mail, was the hardest working woman I've ever known, best cook in the world, and lived to the age of 102. Her mind was as sharp as a tack until about 95. The first sign of any memory issues was when she forgot she salted the soup and we had very salty soup that night 😀

Other countries used in "American" english : "Going Dutch" means splitting the bill 50/50, "Dutch Courage" means cowardly or you're only brave when you're drunk, "Scotch" means frugal or cheap and "Turning Japanese" means one is turning gay. We also use the expression, "It's all Greek to me" which means you can't understand someone or something as though the other person was speaking a foreign language. "Pardon my French" you say before or after you use a swear word, "Mexican standoff" means when 2 groups of people can't agree upon what to do next, "Chinese whispers" refers to information that came from gossip or isn't true, and "a Young Turk" is a wild person sort of like how Norwegians use Texas. That's all I can think of...

I remember people saying "you have to go clear to Timbuktu" or "we live so far out in the country, the nearest hospital is in Timbuktu" - meaning an overlong distance. (I'm in the USA). There's another expression I learned when I moved to New York: "going by way of Canarsie", meaning going the long way around. Canarsie is a neighborhood in Brooklyn. Why that expression, I have no clue. But I know what it means. Love the idea of equating Texas with wild and crazy. :D Ahaha - the marching band drawing. At first I thought you were drawing bar stools. Well, of course, the 2nd favorite pastime is drinking! But, nope, looks like...fishing!. Nope...submarining? So.. like a total Norwegian I’ve been spending this whole day at my phone, enjoying your videos. Lurking, secretly liking peoples comments and also doing a bit of commenting myself. But one thing i have yet to do, is to openly appreciate the time, effort, quality and humor in your videos. And if they did, they’d probably tell u about what is incorrect, or maybe add facts.. haha.. Might i be wrong on this?? Anyways, as for the «non-wegian» part of me , i sincerely thank you for putting into words what i have needed to hear for such a long time (across the board. I bingewatched almost all the vids) The self irony served in such a sweet and open manner. It makes me LOVE the things that i used to barely tolerate. Very informative & cute video guys!!! My husband's grandparents came here from Norway. Our last name is Danish but, his family lived in Norway for years before coming to the USA. He grew up in the state of the state of Illinois, then moved to Texas in 1983. I grew up in Texas!!! We've been married over 30 years. He is much like Norwegians as you describe them. Our lives have been quite the journey. A wonderful journey. He adores me. I pull him out of his introverted ways & calm him when it upsets him. We love each other very much, still, after all these years. He loves Texas too. I think you fellows are Great! Please keep the videos coming. I really enjoy both of you very much!!!

The build up to "korps" scene was hilarious. The introduction, the polite silence and anticipation as the band readied and the conductor held the musicians' attention. And then, "Blam, blom, blam, blom..." Uff. Even the audience couldn't help the giggles!

The video would be one of our beginner bands, maybe 3rd, 4th & 5th grades. 6th, 7th & 8th grade would be band or orchestra. By 9th thru 12th grades (High School) they may stay as part of the orchestra or move to Jazz band. High school also had Marching band and they play outside a lot of the time. Football games, marching in parades. Google "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" and you will see High School & College (University) bands playing. They have flag corps and cheerleaders. Watch the movie Drumline. I think you guys would enjoy that. For all the kids who disliked band, watch the movie Stomp. It's all music/percussion, but without instruments.

Love.. I've been telling people here in the USA that English was made up of, Latin and all the northern regions of Europe. That's why we have so many words that sound alike or are exactly the same word and sound with the same meaning and sometimes the same spelling. I love History. Thank you for this video.. I love it.

So happy to see a new video from you. Love all of your videos, even the serious ones. Would love to see a video about the music scene there. I'm curious about what the average Norwegian thinks about the heavy metal that comes from your country.

People always told me I was strange. Come to find out my mother's grandparents came to the U.S. from Norway 100 years ago, so I'm 1/8th Norwegian. That explains SO much!

Wisconsin .. and we also celebrate May 17, with parades .. they close main streets for a massive parade .. and beauty pageants "Queen Contests" and lefse and flat bread and rommegrot. The women dress in Bunad and the men in red vests and black pants with high socks .. and yes, we also have high school choral concert at that time and I was in choir and know Ja, vi elsker dette landet by memory since childhood. Yes, my grandparents and parents spoke fluent Norwegian and my neighbors, Norwegian was their preferred language, and still is .. English only used occasionally in a few homes. When I grew up here in Wisconsin, the name of church I attended was Norwegian Lutheran. My Grandmother on my Dad's side was from Skreia, she came over on sailing ship as young girl .. long ago. All of my other Grandparents were born here in USA, but their parents all came from Norway. Some from Telemark region. My last name .. Olson. thanks for great videos .. ta det med ro.

It depends on which country you compare it with and which sector (private, public etc.). In general I think it would be far less than in Russia, less than Italy and probably less than in the UK.
