Psychedelics saved me from years of uncontrollable depression, anxiety, and illicit pills addiction. Imagine carving heavy chains for over a decade and then all of a sudden that burden is gone. Believe it or not, in a couple of years they'll be all over for treatment of mental health related issues.

later on the states have tried to bribe marocco´s king to destroy their harvest.. and put their war ships to spot the drugs between africa and europe.. its not just the policy in the states those country´s follow.. the states had their hands in many drug trades in different ways in the old days if we want to travel to the states and we have been caught with weed in europe, the states is a no go zone.. i somhow dont find it staggering how people are affected when you treat them like the states treat others. they have beeeen messing with nederlands coffeshops for example, europe was pretty dry for that period where the states bought the maroccan harvest people had to mix up products if there was to be anuff for everyone.. and that did happen

In the Autumn of 1978, Norway completely outlawed skateboarding. The use of skateboards and import of skate good banned, advertising the sport or products considered a criminal offense and anyone caught defying these rules, considered a criminal. Yet another thing that is exactly same here in Finland. Our countries are so similar in so many ways! You had a hilariously perfect AI generated troll police around 3:30 :D And by the way, I totally agree that weed should be sold in your Vinmonopolet and/or our Alko. That would reduce crime and make tax income to the state. I smoke only tobacco, and would not begin to smoke weed if it was legalized, but I still support legalizing it.

@@steveurkel9378 What you're saying is true. It's the people who don't use it who demonize it. I was a teetotaler (avholds) until my mid 30s when my bipolar disorder caused me to almost die. I wasn't just a teetotaler, I was anti drugs, I wanted hard punishments for use and production etc. etc... I was an absolute clueless goofball and my presence was destructive. During the darkest period of my life I kinda gave up, figured I'd just try drinking seeing as I was on my way to the grave anyways. Turns out, drinking soothed my broken brain for a little while. It opened my mind to the fact that there has to be other stuff that can do the same, but "drugs" scared me to death.. I realized after about 4 months that medicating with alcohol is never going to be doable.. About 6 months later I was in the netherlands for a short while, figured I'd just try it for the hell of it after having read about it a LOT for a while + I was in a self sabotaging mood and just ate a small brownie..... My brain slowed down, I felt calm.. No anger.. No frustration.. I wasn't very high either, I thought I'd be unconscious and hardly functional, like WAY worse than alcohol, but it was _so much weaker_ than alcohol. It smoothed out my jagged moods. There was a sense of harmony, just inner peace.. First time i felt calm since the 90s.. Maybe even the 80s.. In that moment I realized that the only reason alcohol could be legal and weed illegal was that people have no idea how soft of a drug weed actually is. If alcoholics were stoners, we would be all good. Being stoners is like being a fan of coffee or a being a wine snob.. Violent alcoholics are all over the place. Violent stoners are just not really a thing unless they're carrying a LOT of baggage from their past or are extremely mentally ill and no amount of weed could make them calm. Now all I want is for weed to be fully legalized in norway. Taxed and priced at a reasonable rate. Freely available to people with mental illness and addiction problems paid for by the tax on weed. Treatment for any kind of addiction should be paid for by the tax on alcohol and weed. Weed could have stopped so many of my bipolar kin from committing suicide. It also gives you a free level up in terms of empathy. I think that's a big part of why it's illegal.. It causes compassion and shifts your view of the world... Politicians and the industry big wigs want us to be in competition and in a back-stabbing kinda mood rather than a "let's take the day off and just go fishing." kinda mood. They want us to lust for material goods and work hard to attain them rather than a bunch of people moving to a commune and living sustainably without buying a bunch of cars and electronics etc. They want us to be greedy little pigs who envy the neighbor enough to take up a huge loan to buy a cooler car.. They don't want a stoner with a 98 Honda Civic, they want an overworked laborer with a new volvo. They want a tryhard middle class guy who leases a porshe and an 8 series BMW.... Anyways.. I ramble on and on.. sorry.

My point is that you can choose to be bothered by the pimple or choose to put your anguish into perspective. Inside of Norway, I represent the weak and the forgotten, but ouside of Norway, I represent the strength of realistic hope. We longed for Norway for five hundred years before we won our freedom. That's a lot of generations who's dreams went unfulfilled. But in less than one century we became the richest country in the world. Some call it luck, but I call it persistence. I live in Texas, where medical marijuana is highly limited. However, CBD and Delta 8 are readily available. This is because there is a loophole in the law that enabled hemp-derived products to have a small amount of THC, which is the chemical in pot that makes you high. I use it for back pain (which upsets my doctor, who would rather i take prescription medicine, but that's a PITA, since it is very difficult to get the kind of pain medication I need), and also to sleep, since I have insomnia. Weed should be legal in all states. The war on drugs is an expensive failure, and it's long past time to admit defeat.

Thanks so much for doing this video. As an immigrant from the US, my biggest frustration with this issue is that many Norwegians aren't motivated to change anything because "the police won't really bother you", but that's a) not always true, and b) not equally true for everyone. Taking the risk because "police probably won't bother you" just isn't worth it because of the healthcare system, or the risks if you have kids. And the science clearly shows it shouldn't be treated the way it is, but I don't see many direct discussions about it like you've done here. Kudos!

Police in Norway and how they deal with this problem is very locally specific and even individually based. Some cops tell me to just stay safe if they see me smoke, while in other places they’d probably cuff and process me. police in finnmark is nazis when it comes to any recreational drug thats not alcohol, a big chunk of the police working here are also from south norway and not native to the north, just up here for a few years to work on their portfolio/record then move back down south to where they actually wanna work. it feels like this has an effect on how you will be treated by police, back in the days we had local police officers and they were scattered around most places, knew the people of the town and wanted to help, now its all decentralized and there is no attempt of understanding and possibly helping someone on the right track, just villainizing and trying to get a case on paper. which is truly a shame, i think norway is a good and nice country, but we definitely have flaws in certain aspects, especially considering norway has had high overdose deaths of drugs pr. capita compared to other european countries.

Hey, thank you for making this video! I was just in Norway for 3 months this summer and found that, at least the younger population, was well aware that weed is far less destructive for a society than alcohol or cigarettes. I started asking about it when I smelled weed in my AirBnB's back yard over in Bergen, lol. I even met people who know of others growing it. Then, when I got to Ålesund I was abled to smoke it with friends, and up in Tromsø I didn't smell it, but everyone seemed completely okay with it so long as it was kept to yourself. I be it'll be legal in Norway before too long, is my guess. Even if it takes waiting for younger leaders to get in positions of influence, it'll happen eventually, cause you're right. If you're gonna legalize things that can kill, why wouldn't you legalize something that cannot?

I used to live in Washington but I am unhappy with the way it was legalized. It basically just brought organized crime into the public sector because the shops would rob eachother and it became really violent. So for a while going to any shop was uncomfortable because there would be some hired guns. And more recently, I am guessing because it's hard to insure this type of business almost all the shops went out of business but a few really big chains that control the price. They should just make it legal to grow at home and turn a blind eye. If someone is caught with a commercial grow then just punish them for that because it's different. I don't think there is any way to create a safe and fair market for it through government intervention.

Hello Ronald! Hello Mads! It's so good to see the two of you back! I live in Oregon where weed is legal. You can even grow up to four plants for self-use. Weed is, more expensive to buy from the dispensaries then to buy street weed. But some street weed is laced with other drugs and can be dangerous. Buying weed from the dispensaries is safer as that it's grown in carefully overseen greenhouses. It's more expensive because it's taxed. But that money is going to the state and being used for things like repairs to our roads and many other things. The legalization of weed has also stopped many from going to jail. There are many people in jails around this country that are incarcerated for having had less than an ounce of weed in their possession. There have been a few states that upon legalization have released many of those prisoners. That has helped with the overpopulation in our jails. And yet we still have many states that refuse to legalize weed. As you've said in your video, it's complicated when it comes to weed. It's so good to see you two! Espero han estados bien. I hope Moli has been well too! Good to hear from both of you my loves! 😘🤗, 😘🤗

It's funny how 15 years can change things. 15 years ago my sister was picked up by the Sherrif's office and brought to our house because she was with people smoking weed. Today it's completely legal for anyone over the age of 21 to buy at a dispensary, the same as you would buy alcohol or tobacco. Still limits, can only possess 1.5 ounces (doubt the police is going to raid your house and check to see if you only have 1.5 ounces), and can't smoke in public (which I can see as reasonable).

I live in Norway, and I'm a non-smoker. I can definitely understand some concerns and why one might not desire it to be completely legal. Anything that has health risks and annoyances related with it, is automatically seen as intrusive to people other than yourself. If you smoke in a public area, you will bother every non-smoker around you. And that is not great! So we have some areas that are marked as non-smoking areas, but most people don't seem to respect them, nor do they get punished for smoking there. (But they probably deserve to get publically shamed in my opinion, because it's an obvious sign of lack of respect for the non-smokers) That aside, I'd much rather have the government teach proper respect and guidelines to people than to make something illegal. Making something illegal, does not stop people doing it, it just makes it more difficult. It's fair that in some cases, difficulty may discourage people from bothering trying, due to lack of efforts. But that is not the case with for products related with mental well-being and addictions. And thinking or hoping it ever will be is just ignorant. I have no problems with them making it legal and and taking control of the market. In fact, I support it. But if you sit down next to me in a non-smoking area and you start smoking, you should expect to get your ass kicked!

If you die from heart failure within an hour of consuming cannabis, then cannabis can be considered the cause, but if it's later than that, then it should be considered coincidental. But you won't normally know the exact time of consumption, because it's not like alcohol where you can just measure the stomach content and calculate the time that must have passed. Another fantastic video, good job. Keep em coming. As a fellow Norwegian I enjoy the sarcasm mixed with lot of truth. I'm for legalizing it, seems like a win win situation. Will remove the illegal side of "pushing" and perhaps people will talk more open about it and understand it better. It would be an additional income for the country as well and they could use that money to help people on harder drugs and clean up some the districts in Oslo and other cities where it's beggars (for no reason) and crime elements. It is well known as it is "illegal" it often makes you reach out to pushers that also deal harder drugs so easier to be tempted or get dragged into trying the harder stuff.

Unlike the United States, Norway wasn't colonized by Puritans who were kicked out of England, So that could be why its more liberal on a lot of things. I'm from Colorado which was the first US state to legalize recreational weed. I think it should be legal, tobacco and alcohol already are. Its a plant just like tobacco is a plant. Make it legal so prisons can have space for real criminals, not pot heads with the munchies.

I think the part of what I love about Sweden and Norway is that they are so pure and draconian when it comes to marijuana.... For god's sake, in California that are making psiloscybin mushrooms legal and beginning to use LSD in therapeutic sessions. It will be an interesting social observation going forward to see how Norway and Sweden, by not legalizing cannabis and psychedelics, are down the road in the future. I used LSD too many times to count as a young adult , and truly feel fortunate having done so, as It helped shape me into the person I am today. However, I am not so sure that everyone else needs to do this, because not everyone should or needs to have their ego temporarily melt away.a

If you want a productive society I can see why accepting it fully would be cautionary. We can’t have teens or people who haven’t really done anything productive in life to be feeling rewarded for nothing especially if the goal is a productive society.

You will get punished, not by jail time or fines, but by the police harassing you. You'll also risk loosing your drivers license if you drive, you don't even have to ever be caught DUI just the fact that you're caught "abusing illegal substances" is enough. If you get caught driving with trace amounts in your system that's a huge fine and loss of lifetime, their tests can detect use over a week afterwards and I know people that have been caught and gotten fined and license taken for driving 4-5 days after smoking. I recently heard that they're gonna change that and make it more fair but as is now you really can't risk driving for a week or two after smoking weed.

I live in New Mexico, USA and cannabis is legal at the state level, though it’s still illegal at the federal level. It’s a bit complicated. It is very easy to obtain. Prior to legalization, use had reached a level where it was impractical to police its use in a fair and consistent basis. Making it legal in the way it did sort of took this option off the table for the police, which I think was a very good thing. Arresting people for drug use of any kind doesn’t make a lot of sense. The bigger concern in the US right now are opioid abuse and meth. Several years back, an infamous drug company heavily marked an opioid claiming that it was not addictive. They were wrong and that created a huge mess - enough so that our life expectancy went down. That’s a pretty big social harm. Still, I don’t think many people believe that those addicted users should be arrested for their addictions.

Maybe decriminalizing it in Norway will lead to more acceptance and eventual legalization? It seems to have worked well in Canada and the States.

I think that when you are not a child anymore, you do not need politicians to act like they are your parents. And even if some grown up people make bad decisions, i don`t think a government shall tell everyone else what they can do and not do. Just because many people can not restrict them self and eat so much food that it become unhealthy for them, the government should not restrict how much all other people should be allowed to eat.

In Finland there are still some ridiculously medieval attitudes regarding weed. It's widely used by younger people (and increasingly by middle aged) but the ignorant general opinion lumps it together with opiates and cocaine. I’m in California. The voters legalized marijuana and there are legal shops where you can buy it. HOWEVER… When it became regulated there were added taxes for the product and it made it much more expensive to buy legally. For example, $20 for the product, and then with the taxes it now costs $33. So illegal drug sales are still high because the additional taxes make it too expensive for some people to buy. Some people are also just opposed to paying taxes on marijuana.

Pricing is not the only issue. I don't know the laws in California specifically, but in some states you will be arrested if the weed is not in it's original packaging, for example. They still use every loophole they can find to harass and arrest people. The difference in Norway is that the legal system works much better. Like stated in the video, cops would like it criminalized, but the courts refused to punish them, effectively making it not criminal. You don't have that same power struggle in the US, I think, between the legislative (e.g. courts) and executive (e.g. police) branch. They are too close-knit, which is a big problem, and you have way to many levels of government. We don't have separate legislation for cities, counties or municipalities here, so you don't have to worry about hundreds of different sets of laws. Basically it's still a war on drugs, but they switched out the violent busts with economics and other legal trickery. I suspect that after the next election, weed will be legalized in Norway.

Also, we can even order it from the government. Yes, that’s right, the government sells weed to its citizens. I do not use it myself, but I do order my CBD oil from the government. I respond in Norwegian (and try to Google translate to English afterward - regards, Mads). I'm not a big hash smoker, but I believe, as you do (I think), that alcohol is quite a bit more dangerous and addictive. People REALLY end up in the gutter because of alcohol - and it suddenly becomes the only thing they think about. Yes, hash can make you quite slow and sluggish, you can get a bit muddled, etc. - and the brain might possibly get a bit oily - or full of glue. I believe - if we today - had to choose between making alcohol or hash legal, the Norwegian state would probably choose the latter :):

Og jeg tror også det er en myte at cannabisbrukere er "stoners" eller rotete i tankegangen, for sikkert er mange cannabisbrukere intelligente, fokuserte, kreative og produktive. Jeg tror historien har demonstrert at forbud faktisk fører til verre utfall, ikke minst et kriminelt svart marked, som ikke gjør noe godt for noen. Greetings from Ohio...@@YOURWAY2NORWAY

Cannabis is simply cultivated, like any other crop. Corn is longer Teosinte, just as Carrots weren't always orange. If it is too strong, use less. And in places where it is legal, there is certainly access to "heirloom" varieties with lower THC content and potential combinations of THC and CBD. I believe drug criminalization is a scourge, that leads to poor health and social outcomes, as it empowers criminals, who care nothing for the well being of people. @@jeschinstad

Thanks for the video ! Speaking of drugs, is methylphenidate (quasym, concerta and such) legal in Norway ? I'd love to visit your wonderfull country, but I have ADHD, I can't live without my daily drug... 🥺Can I get in trouble because of that ?

If you are talking about getting a legal citizen country stamp, it's another story. We've discussed that a lot. To be honest, it's a bit too political and complicated. Best Mads 😊
