Storm Chips - in Nova Scotia, Canada, where I come from everybody knows about “Storm Chips”. When the weatherman says (because we are all fascinated with weather) a storm is coming people start sending texts for people to get there”storm chips”. People go out and buy food , mostly snack food that doesn’t need power to cook as the power most likely is going off, and one of the most favourite Storm foods is potato chips. Check out the hashtag #stormchips so if you say to someone in Nova Scotia, “Have you got your storm chips?” They will know bad weather is coming.

Ronald sir, thank you for making me more knowledgable and richer regarding Norway. As for my country Lebanon of Which I have not lived there because I was born in Kuwait and lived there until 1980 and then moved to USA and also I am Lebanese Armenian, but never the less I think probably the Cedar tree is the most important simble representing Lebanon. It is on the flag, also many wear it around there neck like neckless. I am wearing one for over 20 years. The Cedar tree is mentioned in the Bible and Christ himself prayed under a Cedar tree in the area of Lebanon where it's called holy Cedars in the north of the country not far from a town called Bsharii which is the home town and museum is there for Gibran khalil Gibran, who himself is simble of Lebanon who wrote the book The Prophet which is the second most read book after the Bible from early to mid part of 20th century. Ronald between now and Christmas if you don't KZbin again, I like to take the moment and say Happy, Healthy New Year and Marry Christmas. As usual, I am more smarter today about Norway then before, and one day when I visit Norway I will feel like I am visiting a familiar place, even though it will be my first time whenever that is.

A pile of bare clamshells, especially just above or below the wrack line...someone had a pretty epic party. I’m from Downeast Maine in the USA, but have only managed to go to one or two old fashioned clambakes in the past thirty years (there were more common when I was little). You build a decent sized fire to get a good bed of coals going (this can take forever) then pile on a layer of wet seaweed followed by sometimes several bushels of fresh clams plus any lobsters, crabs, or corn still in the husk that you might have. Top with another thick layer of wet seaweed with whatever boards/driftwood/large flat rocks are at hand to help secure the pile. Keep checking the pile until the clams have just opened to let you know when they’re done. If someone was smart and didn’t get too much of a head start on the beer there should be a large kettle of seawater heated to one side of the pile for rinsing out the sand and a pot of melted butter (a small splash of vinegar will keep it from being too rich). It’s even easier if the clams are loosely gathered in twine net bags for ease of pulling from the fire. The baking/steaming process really doesn’t take all that long in comparison to building the coal bed-BBQ charcoal doesn’t taste quite right imho. Never overcook seafood, chances are that one or more of the people present worked their butts off to dig the clams in the first place. Rubbery clams and chalky lobster are just insulting to the people who worked for them. Probably far more detail than anyone is interested in but it’s a tradition that’s disappearing between red tides closing clam flats and regulations prohibiting bonfires at the beach. Most tourists and even a lot of locals no longer go to the bother of building a traditional clambake. The coal bed is a massive of work and really only makes sense if there’s a lot of people to feed. Most people just boil/steam their clams in a pot of seawater now with whatever heat source is most convenient.

I think everyone around the world already knows a lot about the US but I do know there are a lot of misconceptions and stereotypes because of movies. My Swedish in-laws didn’t believe me when I said there are tons of poor people in the US and kids who actually go hungry on a daily basis (like the movie Winter’s Bones). A lot of Americans are dirt poor (which I’m sure they still have more than in some countries) but not all Americans are rich.

I'm interested in Norway because I nearly lived there! I had a Norwegian boyfriend years ago who taught English. He lived just below the Arctic Circle. However, I was only 17 and was training as a nurse. I had to make a choice, as I knew it would be at least 3 years until I could even think of moving. I was a beautiful young woman with a lot of male interest, and the thought of having no dates in that time I felt was almost impossible to do! I didn't want to cheat on him! I'm 61, I was 6 when JFK was assassinated. But always for any American, the worst day was 9-11. I was working at a Nashville insurance agency, and when the partners heard about it, they showed us all the TV news reports. Some parents of young children left immediately to go home and be with them. Who knew what city the terrorists might attack next? Our sons were teens, they were okay, so I said I was staying there and try to work. I said if I could finish even one insurance policy, I would have defeated the terrorists who wanted our country to come to a complete standstill. After I said that, most people stayed and worked until closing. We shed quite a few tears, but we got 3 policies done before we left. We didn't realize the magnitude of the attack, though, till we got home that night and watched all of the TV coverage. There are no words. Hijacked planes. The Falling Man. Two enormous steel towers burning down to the ground. Over a thousand dead or unaccounted for. I met one of the Youngest Survivors of 9-11 named Matt a few years ago. (You can read about Matt & the Youngest Witnesses in chapter 11 of the book, "Forever After: New York City Teachers on 9/11".) Matt was 4 years old in a day care that had a full plate glass window facing the Towers. He personally saw the plane hit the tower. His mom came to pick him up, and they walked home in burning pieces of debris, smoke, paper and glass. No American could ever describe the sick feeling we had that day. We will Never Forget!!!

December Sixx I saw the video he did on grocery shopping. I’ve been sober over twenty years, but if I had to shop there on a regular, I’d probably have to take up drinking again! I dislike Walmart, but I am in such a small town, it’s that or Amazon.

Hey guys- thanks for the historical info! Always interesting! What’s your opinion about the yellow vests protests in France? Would something like that ever happen in Norway? An uprising?
@YOURWAY2NORWAY6 жыл бұрын
I don't think an uprising like in france would happen here now. We are not that many people and not so many are in so poor conditions as in france. But I can understand the rage towards the rich elite there. Thanks for always commenting and supporting us 😍

Hi guys! Well I'm very impressed with your research and you have given me some great conversation starters for the next time I visit your amazing country I particularly love the picture of your King sitting on the train paying his fare! 🇳🇴👌classic. That never happen anywhere else but Norway! As for iconic images or moments here in the UK I am still waiting for the most iconic thing to happen here in Britain to happen which is BREXIT!!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🙏🤞 The best thing Norway didn't do was enter the EU, if we do finally leave the EU then maybe we can start to build a country like yours! Love it guys and if we don't chat before then merry Christmas to you and Norway! 🇬🇧🇳🇴🇬🇧🇳🇴🇬🇧🇳🇴🇬🇧🎅🦌🌲😘👍👌
@YOURWAY2NORWAY6 жыл бұрын
Lol, yes brexit is iconic. Even though we are outside, we follow all rules from inside the EU. Including open borders. But most norwegians are against becoming a full member. Good luck outside 🤞 Yes the story about our king is cool! And that's what we want our videos to be, conversation starters. Thanks a lot for that 🤗 Merry Christmas to you too 🎅

OLAF ? OLAF ?? the one from Frozen ...lol..just kidding. There are a couple of things that only 'Canadians' would get. The first is ....if you asked a Canadian what the most memorable event in hockey was...they would probably say.....The 1972 Series between Canada and the Soviets...we won 🇨🇦. And the second is... Timmies. All Canadians know what Timmies is..... so if you ask another Canadian if they want Timmies... it's a coffee from the Tim Hortons coffee and donut store. Lots of people ask for a double-double = two creme and two sugar in a coffee. I worked at a casino once and all the Asians kept asking me for Double Doubles.....I couldn't figure it out at first and then I thought Ooooo...they must think a coffee is called a Double Double !! 😁 🇨🇦 ☕ 🍩🌲
@YOURWAY2NORWAY6 жыл бұрын

I have been there quite a few times and I can relate to all your videos and the way people are. As a Swede I am a little bit chocked by these videos as I've Always thought of Norway as the better neighbor in terms of local Culture, habits and so on. You seem so healthy with your Little mountain cabins and so on, and the Amazing nature not to mention. But it does seem like food Culture is actually better over here in sweden. A bit amazed by this...
