I bought the cleanser in the trial size twice and loved it. I don't wear makeup everyday and have a normal to dry, sensitive, occasional breakout skin type. This has improved the look and feel of my skin, as well as stopped the breakouts. The full size bottle is a bit pricey so I decided to try the Cerave hydrating & Cetaphil gentle cleansers and both made me breakout all over my face. I will be purchasing the YTTP cleanser.

Dr. Dray, Oh My God!! I found your KZbin channel accidentally yesterday (my birthday!) while on the bus watching other videos. I could kick myself! I normally use Cetaphil cleanser, Cerave moisturizer, Paula's Choice SPF 50 in the day and I just leave out the SPF and add prescription Duac and Retin A on different nights. I heard about Youth to the People (YTTP) products at Sephora and stupidly fell for the hype!! I purchased that Kale Spinach cleanser, moisturizer and eye cream! Youth to the People sounded "better" than the "simple" products I was using. Ugghhh. Fast forward just 2 weeks and my skin is so incredibly dry. I thought my oily, acne-prone skin was just "adjusting" to a new and better product and would have continued using YTTP, but then I saw this excellent review. Unbelievable! As of last night I stopped using the Youth to the People stuff and have gone back to my "simple" routine; so much money wasted. Anyway, I am so very happy I found you. I will subscribe and proceed to watch all of your videos. Thank you so much for the very unexpected birthday gift! I am very happy that I found you.

And, I forgot to mention that I had also purchased the YTTP Brightening Serum (insert eye roll here), but the good news is that I wrote to YTTP today and I will be returning all of the products for a full refund!!! Yahoo! I will then be heading to Rite Aid to purchase some of the much better skin care products you recommend. I will also be switching from Cetaphil cleanser to Cerave hydrating cleanser. Once again, a huge thank you!!! I appreciate all of the wonderful information I've gotten from you! Have a great weekend!

Omg wild i actually absolutely love this cleanser and i have to admit i hate cera ve’s cleansers and even their moisturizer which my dermatologist recommended to me!!! The first bottle i used of the cleanser was fine but the second time i bought it it made my skin BURN. And as for the cera Ve moisturizer, it makes my skin itchy as hell. I was using the Krave matcha cleanser for a while but I found that I was getting a bunch of whiteheads on my forehead and little sebaceous filaments on my nose and t zone. I dont know what it is and I can’t argue with Dr. Dray’s logic but theres something about the YTTP cleanser that makes it worth looking at.

Silicone for instance is not frowned upon for being problematic for the skin, but for microplastic pollution of the water, just like Polyester, Elasthane and such in clothes. That's why brands with a more natural or sustainable branding tend to avoid it.

Good video! I see note about that Neutrogena hydroboost is a "Humectant gel creams (go under moisturizing creams)". This surprised me as I had started using it in the morning as day moisturizer under my sunscreen. Are you saying I need to add an additional moisturizer? thanks so much!

You failed to mentioned Aloe which is one of the important ingredients with hyaluronic acid. I get lasers for my hyperpigmentation and this products worked really well. Those of us sensitive skinned people need this type of product. You should just speak on your behalf in terms of efficacy NOT recommending or criticize this as a PSA for others! La Mer in the other hand is a total rip off!

I really enjoy YTTP products as I appreciate what the brand stands for since I am vegan. I use these two products, but I agree with them being potentially drying. I however use the cleanser in a double cleanse following a balm or as my morning cleanser. I follow up the cream with a more occlusive thick cream like eucerin because I like to layer it. But I much more prefer the YTTP aptogen cream!

I've been using those two products for about a week and I wanted to love them I really did but I just can't. I have very sensitive skin and these products irritated and dried my skin out. My skin feels rough and flakey on my cheeks now. And in all honesty I think the price point of Youth to the People is a bit too high for me. It just didn't work out for me.

Hi Dr Dray ..have you ever tried the cleanser Aquation. I have found it is close to CeraVe and a lot less expensive. It is produced in Dallas Texas. Thanks for your comments.

Dr dray, I know this comment is much later, and doesn’t have anything to do with this product persay (though I’m in pursuit of a great cleanser). I have a question. 36f hormonal acne especially along jaw line, combo skin, long time neglect so skin is congested, melasma. I’m hoping you could provide a suggestion. I bought a travel size bottle of the cerave foaming cleanser. I enjoyed it but found it to be a bit drying on my cheeks and forehead especially with higher zinc sunscreen. I am just about out of that. So I bought the hydrating cleanser (full size bottle) I am interested in doing a 2 step cleanse. Would the hydrating cleanser be considered the second cleanse or the first? Could you suggest a product that would partner with that in the cleansing process. Also adding that I wear a mask for 8 hours a day without air conditioning. I appreciate any input. Thank you so much!

I never had a stinging around my eyes and it's not made to remove makeup or treat anything specific. I have very sensitive skin and I have no problems with it. It's the only cleanser that hasn't stripped my skin. No need to bash it just because it didn't work for you.

Dr. Dray, thank you for educating me about fragrance allergy/sensitivity. At 51, the light has come on!💡But I need some lip COLOR and finding this for my extremely sensitive lips is difficult. Could you do a drugstore vlog on this?

Try Bite. I have super dry, sensitive lips and this does the trick. Steep but they last forever. Skip if lanolin is a concern. Burt's bees has some lip sticks that might be good too!

Thanks so much for the review, Dr. Dray. I tend to be skeptical about green tea in a cleanser since it only stays on for a minute at the most anyway. What's your professional advice on that?
@DrDrayzday6 жыл бұрын
there is some data to support green tea leave on products, but not much for the cleanser vehicles...i think it can potentially work because i don't think the free radical scavenging effects are very long lasting, so i question if leaving it on is necessary, but no studies to support that as of yet
@moda02225 жыл бұрын
Hi Dr Dray I live for your reviews. Mostly because you can break down the efficacy (or lack of) in a clinical sense. I use and like YTTP as well as Krave products because they are pretty simple. I prefer a simpler (ingredient) regimen because I don't like mixing too much with the Tretinoin I use for my acne. Thanks again for your professional opinion.

Love watching these , mostly to see whats out there. Cerave Hydrating Cleanser is my tried and true though. I use tretinoin and I do like to apply First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream a couple of times per week over it. I would love your thoughts on this product. The only iffy ingredient which is the last one is eucalyptus leaf extract.

I was looking at this brand trying to find a cleanser without plastic packaging. Any recommendations?
@Nina-cd6uw5 жыл бұрын
That's exactly why I bought it, as a second cleanser after my oil cleansing (oil often comes in glass bottles), and I personally love it! There is a cleanser by Osea out there packaged sustainably, but the price point is quite steep. Realistically, many claims of YTTP are trash, but Dr Dray is bashing it quite a bit here. Her precious Cerave products do not only come packaged in plastic, they are packed with silicones. I think usually with low waste skincare products, you kind of need to sacrifice efficiency for the packaging and "naturalness" of the product, which I can't implement in my life, I want to care for my skin. So I'm very glad for this silicone free glass packaged skincare, I bought the tiny YTTP Cleanser size for about 10€ to try it and it lasts a while, works well as a SECOND cleanser to remove the oily residue of the first cleanse. I'd recommend you just try it for yourself, Dr Dray can comment that it did nothing for her and that the claims are ridiculous, but if you don't care about the claims and just want a decent second cleanser in a glass bottle then go ahead and just try a small size.

I picked up Soon Jung 5-Panthensoside Cica Balm by Etude House the other day. It has Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract in it but I didn't buy it just for that. I was looking for a heavy duty moisturiser and you once mentioned the Cica Balm from LRP which has fragrance in it. I haven't been using this Soon Jung product long enough to give it some serious testing out but so far I am really enjoying it. No breakouts and seems to keep my face nice and moisturised but not oily (I use it at night only). It's too early to tell if the green tea is shrinking my pores :). Thanks for the vid and yes, I would love to hear more about about myth busting parabens, silicones, alcohol and well, everything you can teach us of course.

Is it ok to not wash your face with SPF at night? I always wear sunscreen now. every single day. But sometimes I Forget/am too lazy to wash it off when I dont need it (before bed). Sometimes I get a very small pimple(I think it´s because I leave the product on my face) but its rare enough that I dont really care. I also dont need extra moisture, my skin fine except in winter or dry climates, so I dont really have a "night routine" right now besides washing sometimes. Should I be concerned by not cleansing every day? Washing is just washing, I dont mind to be dirty if it doesnt affect my skin health, lol.
