In between the real videos I have lined up about actual repairs or MODS, I present to you, my condemnation of the current state of KZbin and the guitar community within it. It promises to be of no value to you whatsoever, outside of its intended entertainment value and of course the sweet sweet ad revenue views.

I miss when YT was my social media... It used to be much more of a conversation. The signal to noise ratio is WAY out of whack now... I'm still trying to figure out how some guys can put up NAMM videos when they are 10 states away from the show. LOL! I'm with you tho... I put out videos when I have something worth putting out. When I was at YT HQ they just POUNDED on weekly and daily content. You can see it in the maker community too. There are guys who poop out CRAP because "I needed to get a project done this week.." F- That. KZbin isn't going to fire anyone. In fact, that's the beauty of being your own boss... YOU get to write the rules.

We’ve come from such similar IT and generation backgrounds it’s uncanny. The amount of times I’ve installed networks and struggled to live up to the unreal false promises of sales people. Outright lies just to get the sales. I know exactly what you mean. I’ve been following for a good amount of time now, and I think many of us long time viewers totally get it. Even if I have personal opinions about you or whatever- who cares? You’re right, people feel entitled to stuff that they are not paying for, and most likely still learning from. I definitely have learned a lot from your content. All i saw, was a bunch of low level youtubers, lamb basting a guitar company owner for promoting his guitars... In the end it was all jealousy, and when the absolute nobody dovidas decided to click bait his namm video with rob? It just cemented my thought that this was an attempt to just shift the power more so than take out a bad person. Thanks for making this video man, you just summarized everything I've been seeing the last few weeks; and yeah it's a little gross to watch everyone pandering to each other with their big name endorsements. I've wrestled with the same dilemma myself. I've come to the conclusion that pumping out codshite daily for the dollar defeats the purpose of YT. The constant asking for subs and wringing the bell on just about every single vid out there drives me nuts. I will just post when I believe I have something interesting and of the videography is there to back it up then that's good enough for me. If people wanna watch all good, if not no biggie. Nice guitar there, keep on trucking man, good stuff. I think what you said definitely needed to be said, well done.

That’s one beautiful guitar!!!!! I totally get what you are saying Nelson. My free time is valuable and limited and when I do watch KZbin, I look for value as opposed to quantity. In all honesty, my time would be better spent playing guitar than watching videos. It took my wife asking me why I spend so much time watching instead of playing guitar!!😂😂 I’ve gone through channels I have subscribed to and unsubscribed to the ones I don’t watch much or to be honest just don’t add value to me. It’s too easy to fall into the drama that the guitar community can and does create with “exposed “ videos and calling people out on their actions. I think if people remember that everyone who makes videos here are just average human beings that no better than anyone else that can be wrong and make mistakes in their lives, we would be better off. Thank you for all of your content over the years. I’ve learned quite a bit from watching this channel and although I don’t agree with everything you say, I respect your opinion and the fact that you do share it on this platform. Dan from stewmac did a video restoring a Gibson headstock and used a stencil and gold paint and it's fantastic. Look up the video he says about the stencils and where they are available. It's a two-way street. If [and just speaking about guitar gear here] youtube is heading the way you say, then you need to remember that obviously there is a [huge] audience for it. You want to be an independent and make content your way - awesome and more power to you! You're like the indie filmmaker eschewing Hollywood. But there are tons of people that just want to be entertained. That's just the way it is. I'd personally focus on simply making the kind of content I want and don't waste any time or energy discussing what others do since you can't change anything. Also you likely don't have all the information to make truly informed judgements.

Honestly I see nothing wrong with earning a living and paying your bills. If you can get brand deals and sponsorships I say go ahead and eat this month. Please don’t take deals with crappy companies and please disclose the deal up front. There’s NOTHING wrong about getting paid to do something you are good at. I do agree sometimes it seems like people are a little sleazy about it anymore and that can get annoying. Peter MicKinon does ads for square space that are better than most peoples channel content and I don’t mind him pandering a pretty solid product my way because he does stellar content and really does spend a lot of money making his videos for ME to watch. I see the crap like exposing Chapman going on and the Wills Easy Guitar debacle a while back and my attitude is just unsubscribe if you don’t like the bigger guys anymore. If you want to be a content cop then go be one, but I watch what I want to watch and I like to think I was born smart enough to make choices for myself. The Bible actually says “A laborer is worthy of his pay” you can argue religion all you want, hate me for my stance, I’m not going to lose sleep over a stranger. But I think bashing people for success is petty. If you have done the work and built up a channel and have brands wanting to invest in you and the product isn’t stupid... Go ahead. Now if the product is snake oil BS then please say so. Guitar channels sponsored by phone games and apps is a good example.

Re the scam vid you made about your friend swapping a Les Paul for a Fender strat that turned out fake...if someone is gonna meet in a public place (hence you have no address where you can find them) ...take a photo of them, even if it's done like it's a selfie with them. Better not to buy something shoddy in the first place, sure. But it may be unavoidable to meet them in public. If they won't give an address then just click...get a photo, even if they don't know it's been done. I agree 100% about ebay, including people who advertise that they have a guitar, for example for next to nothing to get you to click onto their details page, only then you see that the shipping costs are more than what the guitar costs. Sooo annoying. Online buying sites all over are doing this more and more. I'm sure some people are advertising other people's goods as though they are theirs and only order it when someone else orders it from them. And again 100% plus. spot on about businesses and their shoddy practices ... So of course a large number of people 'in' business will be pricked in their conscience and criticize you ...

Everything gets worse after it seems to have improved a lot You Tube is a great example of this - Every guitar repair guy says oh the guy who was in here before did a shockingly poor job you all say it to justify what you are going to do yourselves its just part of the spiel. I always stop watching guitar repair you tubers and come back in 3 months that way I dont get to sick of them. The worst are the reviewers who seem to beg for products to be sent to them and always say how great they are, pure nonsense when you received it for free what else could you say.
