You finally posted it. Steven Bernstein's music definitely gives this the feel of 'Animaniacs' since he already did music for that show along with Richard Stone. Also, this was Jennifer Hale's first voice acting role as the gender swapped 'Aladdin'. Also, I'm surprised they didn't cast Dick Dastardly as the Jafar type character. That would've been A good fit for him.
@ZakWolf5 ай бұрын
Steven Bernstein even featured the score heard at 1:12 in at least one episode of the "Animaniacs" revival. Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed Haman's resemblance to Dick Dastardly! Would've been neat if they actually utilized the real Dick in the Jafar role.

Indeed. It was also the final Scooby-Doo production to be solely by Hanna-Barbera. "Zombie Island" was a co-production between H-B and Warner Bros. Animation (as they had moved to the Warner lot during production of the movie), and then WB Animation assumed production of subsequent movies (though the next couple were also co-produced with several H-B staffers before the company was fully absorbed into WB Animation with the death of Bill Hanna).

Not gonna lie the character designs in this feel like they belong in the 2000's more than they belong in the 90s. Yes the 90s has cartoons where they took an abstract art style like AOSTH, Rocko's Modern Life, The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat, and 2 Stupid Dogs to name a few but this feels like it belongs in the 2000s more than it does in 1994.

Isn't the whole point of the Digital Ink and Paint method supposed to make the animation process easier than cels? Okay I'm aware that the method wouldn't become widespread until 1997 to 1999 and outside of a high budget theatrical shorts or films of the era the method was cruder at first since it was new technology at the time. But still, the process would prove to become more reliable and cartoons would look even better than they ever were on cels as time went on.

During that whole 'Aladdin' sequence here I can easily notice the references it has to the original story and the Disney feature. Such as the gender-swapped protagonist looking like Princess Jasmine in her peasant dress. And I concur with all those characters' reactions to when she gets turned into a Princess with her first wish. Plus, coincidentally, "The Return of Jafar" had released just a few months before this film.
@ZakWolf4 ай бұрын
Yep. The "Aliyah-Din" story also borrows a bit from Disney's adaptation of "Sleeping Beauty", specifically the whole thing where a prince and princess are arranged to marry since they were really little, the princess disappears at such a young age, the prince falls in love with a young maiden in his adolescence, and said maiden turns out to be the long-lost princess!
