YouTube private, public or unlisted video - What is it? How to change it?

I see you respond to all comments that’s great thank you!! My question has always been: if you upload as private will your subscribers be notified when you switch to public the same as if you uploaded public?? That has always been my concern about uploading private.

Thanks for the video. I have a question. I uploaded a new video as unlisted a few days ago. I don't want to post it yet because I don't want it to cannibalize my last video. I noticed the date next to the new video is the date I uploaded it. When I decide to publish it in the near future, I would like it to be listed under that date. Will the date change when I make it public, or should I delete it, and upload it again on the date I want to publish it?

@Guitar_Man_ Thank You for responding. I did get it up and running, but it was after two things that happened.Coincidence or not? In trying to figure out what to do I had made two copies of my video. I deleted one . I also remember that it seems that you can find the same thing in one menu that you can find in another. Save was in the upper right hand corner.and it worked for me. In doing so, I might have changed the visibility, like you said, not realizing it. Thanks.

Does anyone know why KZbin changes it to private, I have set the default upload to public (on another channel) and then after about a week KZbin will change it to private. It only happens on one channel and it is very annoying.

when you send audience to your video, youtube has already some data to know who your potential audience is, so an easier time to figure out who might like the video

If you make your KZbin videos public, anybody can watch them whereas if you set them to private, only you and people you invite to watch them can do so

Hi, just wondering if you'd know the answer to this: KZbin and Google have been seriously discriminating against me, stopped me being able to monetise, but still think it's ok for them and their advertisers to earn from my content. If I unlist it all, will they have to remove the adverts on it if the videos are viewed from being embedded elsewhere?

Hi! I need help please!!!! I had to private a video that was public for a temporary time, saw that suddenly I had lost all comments, so I set it up on public again and still had no comments back, and for now I've left it "unlisted" (still, can't see my comments!!). My question is: when I set it back on public, will the comments go back? (also it used to have 400 comments, now it says it only has 220 comments?) but they appear hidden, like, it says it has "220 comments" but I can't see them. Why did it change from 400 to 220? also, why does it say a number of comments but can't see the comments even when I set it on public? Will I lose all the views and likes as well???? HELP!!! please

What does it matter if you lose all the views or comments ... absolutely nothing. Your views on a daily basis only matter. But no, as soon as the video is public or unlisted comments are back

no you don't. But even if it did ... does it matter? Google already payed you for the ads. You can always get new views and new comments, or remake the video in a year with a chance to get even more views and more comments

I've never had any problems making videos public. It's just flicking a switch. Or do you mean that you get no views on a public video? (that's a whole other issue)

@@socialvideoplaza They say there's a little robot on the KZbin platform so when you post a video on KZbin you have to first put it in private or unlisted and wait around 20 minutes and then put it in public, because that's the only way the platform recognizes my videos and I gain viewing, if you don't do it that way, KZbin won't direct my videos I would like to know if this is true

always upload as private. When ALL processing is done by youtube you can release it as public. BUT I would recommend: release videos on a regular schedule, so your audience knows when to expect a new video. Use the schedule function for that; this also gives youtube the time to process te video.
