Y'all been seeing these new AI type things for KZbin creators lately? Generated replies are getting more complex, models for generation of video ideas and outlines and clickbait titles, plus fully synthesized art for thumbnails. Yay.

Seems this video was chosen to receive AI voice dubbing... the "Audio Track" option lets you choose from German, Spanish, French, Portuguese etc. If anyone speaks those languages, lemme know how it does! But considering everything else KZbin does being wonky, eh, I have my doubts as to its accuracy.

The French is awful. I hate this feature with a passion, since it assumes you only speak one language and want everything to be automatically overdubbed into whatever language it thinks you speak. You can't turn it off, so for every video where it has decided you need AI overdubbing you need to go in and switch it back to the original language. It's absolutely horrible. I wonder how many users will just assume that creators are using an AI voice now and will leave. My channels are too small for this nonsense but I would try to disable it if I could. I refuse to watch content with an AI voice, and I really try to avoid any AI content on KZbin in general.

@@blue-dragon Impossible, unfortunately. While many of these videos are obvious, it's not always easy to tell. KZbin won't be forthcoming and detection tools don't work reliably. The problem with calling people out is that this might result in witch hunts, which could be weaponized to target innocent creators who are on the "wrong" side of some made-up culture war or have annoyed influential people or even state actors in some way. What am I saying. Of course this will happen. It's not like we can prevent this, it's not like Google has any interest in combating this when it happens unless it results in extremely bad press - and even then they'll only do a token effort.

@@2Plus2isChicken2013 tech companies go off of slogans like "people _said_ they didn't like it, but interaction nearly doubled!" as if that means it was a huge success. I think that's why they got rid of the really friendly and easy to use [play/add to queue] pop-up when you clicked a video while casting. Now it just automatically plays, and overwrites your TV queue with the playlist you were browsing. It completely tramples over the previously very-good (chrome)cast experience, but... hey, video views and interaction probably went up from all the people fat-fingeredly loading videos they didn't mean to while scrolling. So it's a "success"!

One of the many big problems generative AI has no solution for is that there's already so much AI slop that clean training data doesn't really exist anymore, apart from stuff that is older than the advent of generative AI and increasingly less relevant. The more AI slop is being used, the worse results are getting, even though more and more resources are being poured into training AI models. They can still somewhat believably simulate technological progress, but in reality, this nonsense peaked a while ago and there's no way it'll actually get better. This just feels like they've managed to automate the people who chime in with helpful suggestions like 'What if you did something that was like Batman? It's even more annoying when looking for tech solutions, and you suddenly see a bunch of angry English speakers in the comments of a Hindi video, because the title was translated at no fault of the creator, but all these people searching ended up on the video expecting it to be in English.
