Hey Morgan, thanks for an informative and a very helpful video. How can we identify scams? Sometimes I receive emails, where I need to click some links to see what is the sponsorship product. How we can make sure that it's the real person from the company. The emails look pretty legit. :) Is there anything special we need to pay attention to?

@Anna, I work for @thefilmalliance KZbin channel and what we do is when we get one of those emails we’re not so sure about is we just send a nice email back asking them to tell us a little more about their product. Sometimes they will take the time to email back and really explain their product. Then we can build a relationship and other times it’s crickets. Just emailing back asking for more info really does filter a good amount. Hope that helps.

Thanks Morgan. This was really helpful. I have a small channel but it covers a lot of different things because I am a NFPO. I just help people and teach people new things. I am NOT looking for brand deals and because I teach on so many different topics, I do not notify my subs of new videos, either. However, I have been growing lately - slowly. That said, I did a video on dropshipping recently to help my sister start a business (to avoid being on the phone for weeks, LOL), and received 3 request for 'integrated and dedicated' videos. All 60 seconds each. It's a one time deal with one time pay, so how does that work? I have done review videos in the past for $100 - $500 and free product\sw for Video Editing, Golf stuff, Bass Guitar and Art, but this is new to me.

I have been monetized on KZbin since June of 2021. My subscriber count was above 1,700. Now it's above 3,350. I'm so glad I found this video because honestly I thought my channel was simply just too small to get any kind of sponsorship. I absolutely do not make enough money from monetization. I'm having issues in real life when it comes to work. I have a job but I just am having problems with it now which I'm not going to get into. I saw that a Channel with a little over 7,000 subscribers actually got a sponsor. I hope my channel is deserving of one. My regular videos tend to stay in the hundreds in views, but my shorts normally go into the thousands. In fact when it comes to my shorts I'm off to a pretty good start for 2023 with almost all of them having over 2,000 views each with one of them being above 3,000 views approaching 4,000. I do feel like the best time to get a sponsor would have been late last year though. November honestly was the greatest month my KZbin channel has ever had this far. Going from less than 2,500 subscribers to being somewhere above 3,100 at the end of November. I'm just worried about whether my channel is kind of starting to decline in views. I mean don't get me wrong I'm still getting views and I'm still getting watch time, but not as much as I did in November. It would be really helpful to have a sponsor right now even if it's not a whole lot of money

Thanks Morgan, as my channel is intended to promote my business I do get solicitations. Usually it has nothing to do with what I do but one company gave me a tool they manufacture. I use it now in every video along with do a 1 minute info script in a side window on who to contact if someone is interested. I don't know KZbin edicate but assume this is fine along with give them credit in the description. There is no money involved, just freebies so the relationship isn't binding. With that said, am I doing anything wrong that could come back on me? Ps; hope you and your family had a great time on the beach 🏖

I think that's totally fine and to be expected! As your channel grows, you'll become recognized as an authority in your space because of it so companies will want to start reaching out. You build trust with your audience and they trust your recommendations, so the companies will want to partner to capitalize on that. Gifting products is common because the brand is hoping that you'll like it and use it and they will get free promotion out of it. I see no problem with it. Even better if you can work with that company to get an affiliate code, so that way is someone purchases using your link, you get some compensation. Also, the beach was GREAT! 70-80 degree weather beats the 118 we had in AZ! It was a dream!

I got a sponsorship offer from some random person. I got the product (assuming it's from China), and the person that I was emailing regarding the sponsorship said they randomly had to leave the company and that another person would be handling the whole thing. I had a bad feeling about it, but I was encouraged to take it. So, I did. They wanted me to do a review for a shoe rack that they "needed a review for", and they sent it to me. I now have a free shoe rack, but I told them I would in no way do any review for them based on that email that was sent to me. I asked the guy who could be taking over the emailing so I could contact him/her, and I got no response. Whatever. I now know to be careful where the item is coming from, and I'll be very careful in the future. (This was offered to me through my other channel, which worked for the product. This channel is for my crochet/knitting tutorial channel, and I'm hoping to get a sponsorship from yarn companies or craft stores in the near future). Thanks for this great video. It helped a lot!!

I own a spa and I have been looking into sponsorship with a lot of companies that I’ve already bought products from. I’ve made a few videos on TikTok and a lot of people actually watched them about me doing various random things related to cooking and living the spa life, I do have a lawyer. And I do have a public speaking coach who has worked with me to improve my speaking skills so it’s a lot of work. I’ve already done a lot of footwork by myself I just need to research how to negotiate with sponsors properly and your video is very concise with this. Alot of the major brands that I’ve contacted were only through direct messaging but I realized that I need to go to them directly through their website. What is your view on this? Should I be direct messaging them or is it better for me to take the route of emailing my stats and videos to the company? Thank you so much! Bella 😊

interested in the contract too but so much disclaimers recommanding to use local lawyer service instead on your page. and price is little expensive for what a youtuber can get. i hope the sponsor can create the contrat and provide it for free. i can't get a 200$ sponsor salary and invest 300$ in contract. not realistic projection.

Lawyers are very expensive to hire directly so if you were to hire a lawyer yourself, it would be way more than $300 to get a contract drafted up. I do understand that $300 is a bit high for those starting out, but for me they are an investment. When I first was starting out, I got myself in some big trouble by not having a contact and have to give a $500 refund as a result. I'm not doing that again so I always recommending lawyering up. You can research other templates and those may work for you and your budget! Best of luck!

@@MorganStradling i konw your honnest and you're the only one to recommand a lawyer. because other youtubers are not really interested in our success and doesn't provide this kind of detail. anyway we leave at a place and a time where scammers are everywhere and we're never over protected from it. i do believe you when you say that is when you start you need the most to being well protected. but it's at this time it's the hardest to invest more. cause grapic card and everything. you're doing well. i'm looking for a way to feature others youtuber and i will shout a word or two about your channel when i figure the details of the format. best luck for your nice channel too.

It's probably because they see you as too small or not enough influence to sponsor. Remember when contacting brands, you need to let them know what's in it for them (not what's in it for you). Why would it be worth it for them to sponsor you? Come with them with statistics of your audience (SocialBlueBook makes this super easy), examples of success from other sponsors, etc.

It can be frustrating starting out but you have to remember that those big channels started somewhere too (most likely at 0). You have to put in the work and be consistent. Most big channels have been doing it for years, not months. Keep working and you'll get there. And never say it's too late. Imagine if Elon Musk said, "Oh there already are too many car companies." Hi I've gotten a few emails from a few companies for some sponsorships they sent me links and which I didn't click because they were for something I didn't know anything about or I herd of the product but didn't know anything about it. So I updated my channel info and for my email for companies to email me I put for Doll's,toys,videos games and yarn because that what I do on my channel so that one day a company will email me ans want to send me a doll or talk about the upcoming Doll's or toys and video games. Because I got a few emails one from Adobe, another for a mobile game that has a KZbin channel tied to it and nord VPN then their was another sponsorship email that I got about a year ago from a social media sponsorship network or something. So that way I make it more clearer for companies to contact me for sponsorship for things that go with my channel.
