I am happy that you're still here at GTLive. It means this isn't goodbye. It's just letting someone else take the spotlight on the other channels. You had an amazing run and made such a difference in so many lives. As I was homeschooling my youngest your videos were often used as applied science and mathematics. Fun things they could watch and talk about to see why it's important to learn science and mathematics. I think it's a big part of why all my kids are so in love with learning. They would put your videos on repeat to fall asleep to. They would plan their schedules around your charity lives so they could watch you, even giving me some of their own money asking me to donate it to you. You taught them so many important things. I have enjoyed it as much as they did. Thank you so much.

The "have I done enough" bit just breaks my heart; you're one of the most influential people on this platform. I've had real life friends exclaim "that's just a theory: a game theory!" I started watching Matpat with film theory and watched food & style theory after that. It was film theory when I realized I wasn't alone in thinking certain things about movies. Matpat you have indeed done enough and it is ok for you to retire and not be the main face anymore. You've helped me through breakups and a divorce, being away from home, losses in my life, and you've still made me wanna be better and honest to who I am, a better theorist, and in general a better person. 14:01 Steph asking why “K” is the universal play/pause button. In video editing software the keyboard shortcuts for reverse, play/stop, and forward are J, K, and L respectively. When editing, you want to try to use the mouse as little as possible so resting your fingers on those three keys is really easy and an editor doesn’t have to move much to do a task that is done a thousand times while editing.

@@eccentricbass3730 The usual rule of thumb is that the mouse is precise and accurate, whereas the keyboard is fast and specific. Shortcuts make stuff always faster and shortcuts can't really be converted to most mouses haha. Same way that selections and precise stuff is easier with a mouse since you have finer control over X & Y IF you don't have specifics in mind :P
