ok, i'll be honest, out of any channel i remember you ever covering, this one's the best. like they actually seem to understand nuance, something that no prank channels seem to understand anymore (not that i watch any, you're basically my window). these pranks aren't about making somebody as uncomfortable or fearful as possible, and they AREN'T about convincing somebody AS HARD AS POSSIBLE that a false reality is the truth. it's about the dance of creating an absurd situation and juggling the reactions and awareness of everyone involved. like it actually seemed like they understand nuance. at any point a normal prank channel would try harder to convince onlookers that what they're seeing is genuine (like when someone tries to intervene), they have this other guy come in and completely escalate it off the wall BEFORE people have a chance to get overly concerned or overly reactive. the escalation is Big and could elicit a big reaction in onlookers, but the beauty is the escalation is used to pull down the curtain on the charade. people at their peak of emotion see that what they're reacting to is something silly to be having this reaction to, so they feel silly in the moment. THAT is a prank. not convincing onlookers as hard as possible that you're actually the parent of an actual baby and are actually performing those actions on it and that they've actually just witnessed horrible abuse/infanticide. pulling the curtain at that point makes people feel uncomfortable and hurt and angry. so many who create this content have lost it. making someone feel Uncomfortable does NOT make a good prank. making someone feel SILLY does.

To be fair, laughing is a default reaction when the brain doesn't know how to react. Perhaps it's similar to being tickled. When you're tickled, it's actually affecting pain receptors. That's why many people don't like being tickled (and why the tickle torture is a real form of torture). But you still laugh when you're tickled. So perhaps that's why people might laugh when they see something like that happen. Because it's triggering a part of the brain that would normally be bad (and why people often laugh when they see people get hurt in certain ways, like getting hit in the balls). It's not that they find it funny, it's that your ability to sympathize triggers a "pain" response in your own brain, but like tickling, it triggers laughter instead of a more proper response.
