Jon/Aegon has always been forced to make the hard choices. To choose between what is best for his people over his own wants and desires. Only Jon could get close enough to kill Daenarys Targaryen, his aunt. Jon did not run for his life. He knew what he did, and he was ready to face Drogon. He let Drogon decide his fate. But Drogon knew that desire for the Iron Throne was the true enemy that destroyed his beloved mother. So h destroyed/melted it.

@@Brianism_ Still doesn't change the fact that both John's and Daenerys' character development went completely down the drain. Above all, why didn't Drogon just burn John too? Why was it revealed that John is a Targaryen if in the end Bran is left on the throne who is less interesting than the stone that killed Cersei? Why didn't the Dothraki start a rebellion? Why was the Night King defeated so easily and then not by John? Why didn't they give the Tyrant Character Development more time and space? Why so rushed. These are all things that were just written like shit simply because they wanted to move quickly to Star Wars. A lot of characters that were just rushed to finish Game of Thrones quickly. Everything could have been done much better. And they should have just waited until George R. R. Martin had published the books and then released the last two seasons. Let's see if, after all the prequels, some things will be corrected with a sequel at some point.

Now, rewatching this scene, I hate how the people who used to adore her are now cheering for her death. Even when I watch it, I cry at the end of her story. I loved Dany for her progress as a character, but I'm disappointed by how she went wrong. Seeing her death doesn’t bring me happiness, but fills me with sadness instead. The person we loved turned into something of a monster. She deserved to die though, as she was becoming like Joffrey, blinded by her belief that she would unite the world and that her justice was right. Whenever I rewatch GOT,I can't watch the last two seasons. I hope HOTD ends well

They say that in breeding causes madness, didn't her grandfather go nuts too at the end. Dany's one redeeming quality was to never harm children or the innocent, so you can't just say it was because she went through a lot they all did. She was ready to kill everyone who was not a liberator who was a dictator, John couldn't let her live. Drogon didn't kill him because he knew that at the end of the day, John was the last Targerian.

You know the TV series isn’t technically asoiaf canon because the author of the asoiaf books hasn’t completed writing the book series yet so the full Game of Thrones series as of yet isn’t technically only the first few season can be counted as canon to the books because they follow the book the rest of the seasons are the writers of Game of Thrones making stuff up as they go along.

It would be better if Drogon just kill John, his fans is accept and justify his betrayal of Danny too easily and after that wanted to dragon didnt kill him, what a hypocritical way of thinking. Besides that they accept absurd plot twist what Danny suddenly go mad. Yeah what other do to her, including her allies and all loved John and Sansa, its harsh but strong willed and caring Danny still could overcome this and would not burn Kings Landing. So i see why John by putting away his oath and love with principles do all this for "common sake" by show runners will, cause its emotional and for sake of creating drama and effect of shock and etc. But John probably never would have done that. Yes he would not be happy about that for sure but at least he would have tried very hard and for a long time to return Danny all we know. So show runners ruin even John in their low class scenario.
